2018 might do me in
I had my gastric bypass in March of 2015. I lost over 100 pounds, and felt great. I got off a lot of the social media (MFP included) because I just felt I spent too much time on them. Now, 2018 has just about killed me, but I am getting back on track. My mother passed away in February, and then our dog passed the next…

Just wanted to share...
It's been a long time since I've posted. Life has gotten so busy that I just barely have time to log my food. However this morning I realized that I am now down 67 pounds. So, I decided to try on a pair of pants that I hadn't been able to wear for 20 years. They fit! They're tight, but they fit! So I decided to do a…

Tell me. What was the best thing that happened today?
Every day has something good in it. Sometimes it's hard to see at first. But once we take a moment we can see that there was likely at least one good thing. Maybe someone you admire told you that you're doing awesome. Or you got a new job. Could be that you got home and your kids cleaned the house...it could happen. For…

New Here. Hi From Texas!
Hi everyone. So glad to find a group on MFP that I feel comfortable enough to join. My story: I have been "chubby" most of my life. Well, except that short period of when I was a VERY busy teen and was rarely at home. After a failed marriage, being a single mom for 20+ years on a pretty small income, having a child with…

tat2cookie, you're a genius!
I had your protein puree today and it was soooooo good!! I didn't use the spice because I am a wimpy girl, and I don't have any unflavored protein powder. But the rest I made and LOVED it! I was able to feed my daughter, and she liked it too. I do want to add the protein powder, but wanted to know what kind of unflavored…

For the seasoned post-op'ers - exercising
So it shouldn't be much longer before I am released to do more exercise. Right now I am just getting some walking in. I don't own a bike, nor can I afford to get one. I don't swim (picture an anchor). But as I near that release date I am wondering what I can do to ease into a regular exercise routine. I have never been a…

Day after surgery
I am feeling pretty good. Sore like I did a sit-up marathon, but good. As of right now I have walked 5 times. My swallow test didn't show any problems so now I get ice chips! After being without something to drink for so long they tasted devine. But right now I am gonna nap. Just wanted to let you all know how well things…

Sucralose
While everything is going pretty good here in my recovery, I am finding that anything with Sucralose is causing tummy troubles. The only problem with that is that I am on clear liquids only, so that means I can't have my jello, Isopure protein drink, or Nectar protein drink. That makes it much harder to get protein in to…

How I Make Yogurt
I am finally able to have yogurt again, so this weekend I made a batch, which prompted me to want to share this with you all. This is copied from a Note I posted on Facebook about a year or so ago. The best thing about making your own yogurt is that you know exactly what goes into it. Mind you that this is homemade plain…

Off my meds...
Well at least for 3 months! I went for my PCP follow-up. She's really pleased with my numbers and the fact that I've lost 20 pounds since she last saw me in February. She told me to not bother with my meds until we do some new blood work and get a new baseline. I am pretty stoked about that!

Just a conversation starter
Beginning this new journey has me wondering about what lies ahead. So I ask of you, what strategy do you have/use to get through the emotional, or just plain difficult, times?

On the road to recovery
Good morning all. I am happy to say that I am recovering nicely after my surgery. It seems I've had a lot easier time of it than some people I've read about. The nursing staff at my hospital were amazing and took such good care of me. Jason, the night nurse my first night, came in to check on me and asked how I was doing.…

How to survive clear liquid day?
Tomorrow is the day before I go for surgery and I am to be on clear liquids only. How did you survive that day? I'm afraid I'm gonna be terribly hungry. I've done good on my liquid diet, but tomorrow I am worried about since I won't be able to have my protein shakes.

Search how to?
Is there a way to just search topics within this group? I've tried searching but seem to always end up on the regular forum boards.
