How important is cooling down really? Is it something worth taking the extra minutes to do? Or is the walk to the locker room and a cold shower good enough?

The woes of working at a desk
Like a lot of people I'm at a desk 8-10 hours a day. On top of that I have an hour commute both ways, so 12 hours a day before watching Game of Thrones or Walking Dead. Should I be doing cardio? Lifting weights? Both?
I currently do strength training for half an hour, and then cardio for 30-45 min. One of the guys at my gym told me I would get better results if I focus on cardio until I lose the weight - then start back up on the weight lifting. This caused a big fight at my gym, and everyone had a different opinion. What do you guys…
