New to gym & lifting
Santa brought me a gym membership for Christmas. I really want to start lifting, either NROLFW or stronglifts. I've never worked with those kind of weights though. Is there anything special I should have when I start? Any tips or advice? Thanks

Finally made it into the 160s!
My weight loss has been kind of stuck for the past 3 months . Pretty much just maintaining for a while there. Well I finally got my *kitten* together and as of this morning I finally hit 169. Anyone have any scale or non scale victories they want to share?

Falling into a slump
I did so great for those first two months. Was great about lowering my portions and not allowing myself to over indulge. Was exercising regularly and lost about 16 lbs. These last two weeks have been rough for me though. Exercise has been ok but not great. But I've been bad about my food. I've been going way over my…

Stupid food scale questions
So I finally succumbed and bought a food scale. I just have a few questions so that I'm using it properly and so it can be most beneficial towards my diet. Do you weigh things like bananas peeled or unpeeled? If I weigh my meat raw but don't eat all of it once it's cooked, how will I know how much I've ate? Like my husband…

Local beef and pork products
Anyone but their beef and pork locally? We bought half a cow and a whole hog. I have no clue the calories in the stuff or the best way to calculate it. This meat will last us all year so it's pretty much exclusively what I'll use. Any suggestions? The meat includes burgers, ground beef, steak, roast, bacon, ham, pork…

Inspiration picture?
Do you have an inspiration picture of where you would like to be? Either an old picture of yourself or someone else? Feel free to post the picture if you have one.

Do you drink water while you run?
I usually do interval run/walk on the treadmill while I build up my endurance. I always find myself parched after the running so i usually take a drink. But this leads to me feeling like the water is just sloshing in my belly while I run. I'm not sure which is worse, the sloshing or the parched feeling.

Accountability partner
Do you think having an accountability partner is helpful? And do you prefer your partner to have similar weight loss goals as you or in the same stage of weight loss?

Where do you carry your weight?
Mine is definitely in my stomach and love handles area. Not saying other parts aren't big but that's definitely the most noticeable. Already starting to see some changes in those areas though so that's encouraging.

A bad day or week does not define you
I notice a lot of posts about being discouraged or having trouble staying on track. I admit I've had a bad couple of days diet wise and not exercising much because of being sick. Usually this would be the point where I give up and go back to my old habits. But I've decided that these bad days don't define me. I have the…

Make ahead lunches
Anyone have any good suggestions? I have slight issues getting out of bed in the morning to make my lunch and I need to stop buying at work for my waist and my wallets sake. Leftovers aren't really an option (my husband usually takes tgose)

Parents of young kids
When do you typically work out? Do you do it when your children are awake? Do they enjoy working out with you or how else Do you keep them occupied? My kids are 5 & 2 so they are all about helping mom workout but a lot of the time they are getting in the way or fighting with each other.

Calling all moms!!
I saw in another thread some other mothers discussing starting a group or FB page to connect with each other. I thought I'd try starting a group here on MFP so we could all discuss the unique challenges of motherhood and working out. If anyone is wanting to join, I'll attach the link to the group at the bottom. The group…

Losing Inches question
I just started tracking and exercising around the 10th of this month which is when I took my first measurements. I decided to measure myself today and I lost about 2 inches off my waist and 3 inches off my hips. 0 from my arms and thighs though. I'm 5'7", starting weight was at 200. I'm still measuring around 200 on the…

cutting out processed food
I hate cooking. This leads to us eating a lot of boxed meals and canned foods. I know I need to get away from this stuff but I don't know how. Anyone have simple suggestions for a non cook with two picky young kids? Would following an actual diet plan help?
