Still struggling with my "ideal weight"
I was mildly flabbergasted to find that according to this website: http://www.healthcentral.com/diet-exercise/ideal-body-weight-3146-143.html.... I'm "underweight" (I'm slightly above six-foot-two, about 192 pounds give or take). It says I have a large frame (which I think is fair). According to the BMI, I'm at the top…

How to reset Fitbit Aria
.... the stupid thing won't sync with my router anymore. I followed the instructions and thought I reset it, but it still won't post my stats up on Fitbit (and, obviously, sync with MFP). Can anyone offer any tips? If necessary, I have no problem resetting the thing to factory defaults and starting over. Just need a good…

Poll - best way to gain muscle / bulk
Feel free to answer this any way you like. I'm trying to see what the consensus is in MFP, and what your reasoning is. For someone who is at or near goal-weight (such as myself), what do you think is the best way to effectively gain muscle / bulk, while minimizing fat gain? a) Traditional bulk / cut cycles - basically, eat…

Bulk / surplus days + maintainence / fat loss days
So this is the plan I'm hatching. Since I'm pretty much at goal weight (on the high side of a normal BMI, which I think is fine), I'd like to try gaining more muscle. I am OK with modest gains in fat if I can gain some significant muscle, but I'd like to keep the fat gain minimal if possible - I am not going to hold out…

around 190 pounds, 6'2'', newly on maintainence, want to recomp
Here's my plan. Stay on maintainence. Up my protein intake to about 140grams per day (currently averaging around 100). Lift every other day, continue daily cardio. Sound fair? Trying to keep this simple.
-
So, bottom line - do I need to switch to maintainence in order to gain muscle?
I'm hovering around 190 (slightly over 6'2''). Seems to be a comfortable weight for me, albeit on the upper end of normal BMI. Just the beginnings of some nice vasculature in my legs and midsection, arms. I've started lifting again. I'm an old hand at it - I used to lift all the time for years, and know how to do it (took…
-
How do I about get back into lifting? Need some background first - I've had issues. Comments?
Height - six foot two and change Weight - 189 (as of this morning) Body fat % - about 15 (according to Fitbit Aria) Cholesterol, lipids, blood pressure, blood glucose - excellent and significantly improved from 40+ pounds ago (although they were still at least OK then) Fitness level - Can run a sustained pace of 8+ miles /…

193.4 as of yesterday. Wanting to resolve to keep going to 180s. People at work "you're too skinny!"
Its sapping my motivation somewhat. But the fact is, in the 190s my BMI is in the upper limit of what is considered normal (e.g., it hits pretty close to the 25s). If I got to the low 180s, I would be midrange in terms of BMI and I would be much more comfortable to stop there and maintain… I think it would give me a nice…

Interminable question - working in "treats" in maintainence - do you do it? How do you do it?
I'm not technically in maintainence as I still have MFP set at a 0.5 pounds / week loss goal. However, it is a lot more liberal than when I was at 1.5 pounds per week (and I was hitting 1.75 / week besides). In a lot of ways, I'm getting used to what being in maintainence is like right now, I think. It's weird. So, here's…

How to not be one of those "I lost X pounds but then I gained X of it back!"
I see lots of those pop up around here. I'm a few pounds from what I previously said was my goal weight (really, I think I'm at goal at this point). I'm trying to seriously start thinking of what maintainence and recomposition will look like for me. How do you *not* become a statistic, as they say?

Asked my doctor if he thinks I should keep losing. He said, "you're at an ideal weight now"
... and he said I should stop. That was yesterday. My BMI as of yesterday was 25.46. I'm still "overweight." On the other hand, I now clearly have vasculature visible in my midsection (I'm veiny!), I've dropped from a size 38 waist to a 32, and I'm getting regular (super annoying now) comments from people at work that I'm…

cardio folks, do you have this? postural hypotension - getting dizzy when you stand up
So, I run typically every day, for at least around a 1/2 hour, and often more. I've been averaging about 30-35 miles per week for awhile now. My resting heart rate is around the mid-50s. It used to be higher. Weight is now in normal BMI range. I've found that as I've gotten leaner and the more I run, the more I have this…

Getting skinny is.... kinda weird
This is the unexpected part of weight loss for me. I'm apparently a skinny person now. I recently looked at some recent loss pictures of me and compared them to when I was heavy, and they look like someone I'm not sure I know. I've spent most of my life overweight or obese. I'd like to get used to being skinny so it just…

Goals are too aggressive for where I'm at? Advice?
So I'm basically very close to my goal weight (190 pounds), currently hovering around 196-199. I've averaged a loss of 1.75 pounds per week since I started MFP. I think it's time to slow down. I've reset my loss rate to 1 pound per week (from 1.5 pounds currently). Wise? Unwise?

30+ pounds lost - pictures
So, time for the obligatory success pictures, since as of today I've hit my first major milestone - normal BMI, for the first time in about 10 years. So, although I haven't been this fat since 2004, here's a picture of me when I topped the scales at around 260 pounds. This was me at my worst. This is me more recently, with…

First plateau ever, from what I can tell. Advice?
Let me know if you can't see my journal. Have lost about 30 pounds of weight total, have gone down two pants sizes already. I think I've gotten a little spoiled by the fact that the weight basically has dropped off of me since I started all of this. Aside from "weigh your food" or "get a scale" (which I'm not opposed to -…

four pound weight fluctuation = feeling a bit discouraged
I've kept within my calorie allotment (although two days ago I was very close to going over). I've lost about 30 pounds thus far (10 of it pre-MFP). I ate a really salty dinner last night (KFC). Also, woke up today with some bad muscle soreness that decided to really kick in today - was bad yesterday, but MUCH worse today…

3.6 pounds away from a normal BMI!!!
This seems to be the hardest leg of the journey. Ideally, I would like to get to a 22 or 23 BMI. But right now this is my biggest and most important milestone. I have so far lost over 30 pounds (10 of my weight loss was pre-MFP). I was a little bummed as after a long weekend I weighed myself in again this morning and the…

Coworker said I looked "skeletal" and that I should "stop" losing any more weight
My profile pic is a very recent pic of me from a day or so ago. I'm six-foot-three, 207 (as of today) with some decent base muscle from about 20 years of weightlifting (although I haven't lifted for about a year and a half now). Should I stop losing, or keep going? I still have an "overweight" BMI, I'm just not sure what…

Does anyone else "save calories" for dinner (or another meal)?
I've found out I actually don't really need much to get through the day. Usually a bowl of high-protein cereal with skim milk and berries for breakfast plus black coffee. Then lunch is salad and maybe some cheesesticks. Once my exercise is factored in, I typically have 1500-2000 calories to play with by dinnertime. A…

Really, really want to break through the 200 barrier
I've gone from 235 (lost my first 10 pre-MFP) down to where I am now, hovering at around 207-209. This gives me a BMI that is just barely, barely overweight (around a 26 BMI, as I'm six-foot-three). I haven't weighed under 200 in about 10 years. Budge, you damn scale!!!

Worked out yesterday and ate lightly throughout the day - this is what I "binged" on last night:
1 bag of "Pop Secret Homestyle" popcorn = 510 calories 1/4 cup of sugar-free hersheys chocolate chips = 240 calories 2 sugar free popsicles = 30 calories I ended up with over 300 calories left over for the day, which was good. But you know? The eating wasn't that satisfying. I mean, the popcorn tasted good, but it didn't…

Not paying attention to "macros"... is that bad?
I don't think my diet is particularly bad - Lots of veggies and fruit, I tend to default to protein when hungry, etc. But what's the deal? Do I need goals for macros? Any thoughts? Feel free to check out my food diary if you want.

Too much food lying around the house. My shopping habits are officially outsized
So, I'm getting punished by success. I've so far lost nearly 30 pounds (15 pre-MFP, about 13 of it after joining MFP), and since really getting good at this calorie-counting thing, I've found that I seem to be buying way more food than I eat. My freezer is stuffed, I have little bags of food and little containers floating…

Having a big urge to binge on 20 chicken mcnuggets
Plus like a whole mess of ranch dressing. I'd only have to budget like, around 1200 calories or so, including the ranch, right? No problem....
