Veggies you never knew you liked
I find that bulking up my proteins/carbs with lots of low-cal veggies really helps fill me up and keep me emotionally feeling like I ate a full meal. I'm looking for new veggies to try, though, since I feel like sometimes eating the same veggies on a regular basis get pretty boring. Here's what I already eat: * Lettuce *…

Can eating too few calories stop you from losing weight?
I've been doing MFP for a little while now, and at the beginning it was a real struggle to stick to my calorie allotment. Now it's gotten much easier, and there are more and more days where I'm fine several hundred calories under my goal. (My goal is in the 1400s, and sometimes I feel full when I hit 1100-1200.) Should I…

Breakfast
Is it really bad to skip breakfast if you're not hungry for it? Does it "get your metabolism going" or is that a myth? I'm often rushing out the door with my kids and just don't have time, so I've been grabbing a small handful of almonds on the way out just because I feel like I'm supposed to. I'm not very hungry in the…

Question for women who have lost weight
If you were big-busted, did you get smaller? Right now I've lost twenty pounds, and I feel like it's mostly in my mid-section, which is great! But I only have about another 25 to go until I reach my goal, and my shirts look ridiculous because my top is so much bigger than my middle... Anything I can do? Does everything…

Eating back calories
So usually when I exercise, it's 15 minutes, or 30 minutes, and I don't eat back my calories. But today I power walked for 30 minutes, lifted weights for a while, and played 45 minutes of one-on-one with my kids, and then pitched to another kid (and ran after the ball when he hit it). I ate a very substantial dinner…

The science behind "being full"
I had posted something on the science behind weight loss earlier on this board, and I learned a lot! This has been bothering recently, so I figured I'd ask and see if anyone could explain it to me. What makes you feel full? I don't mean psychologically -- obviously if you're craving chocolate, eating hundreds of calories…

How to measure the unmeasurable
For those of you who really measure every bite that you eat, what do you do about things that are unmeasurable? For example, if I make chicken broth by boiling chicken in water, but then I eat the broth and not the chicken (leaving the chicken for my husband and kids), how do I figure out the calories in the soup? It's not…

Rice and Beans Recipes?
Looking for a meatless meal with rice and beans. Not too spicy (need my kids to go for it). Preferably not a major tomato taste either. Ideas? I'd love to make it a buffet kind of thing, with lots of different vegetables and maybe some cheese to add on top of the rice and beans...

A couple of things I don't understand about weight loss
1) How does weight actually "get lost." For example, if I weigh myself and I weigh 100 pounds (yeah right). And then I eat a 16 oz steak, a pound of potatoes, and a pound of green beans. I should gain three pounds, right? But there's not necessarily the same amount of calories in each of those, so I'll probably end up…

Your favorite calorie-friendly foods
I've just started calorie counting for the first time a few weeks ago, and I'm realizing how little I know about food. Obviously vegetables are low-calorie, but I had no idea that a whole can of light tuna was only 50 calories, or that popcorn -- even lightly buttered -- was so low-calorie. I think of chicken as healthy,…

Looking for a mom buddy
I feel like I'll be able to relate best to someone with several kids under 10 or so. Often it's the hectic (and fun) aspects of life that make it hard to stick to a diet, and a buddy who's in the same boat would help. I have three boys (8, 6, and 4) and a baby girl (9 months). Anyone out there in a similar situation?

Eating more later in the day?
I've only been tracking calories for a few days now, but I'm seeing a pattern. I often eat a small breakfast (in a rush, getting kids out of the house), a larger lunch, a little snack in the afternoon, and then a LARGE dinner. I'm sticking to the calorie amounts, but does it matter when you eat the calories? I do make sure…

Mexican food without lime, tomato sauce, or...
We love Mexican food (or maybe it's Tex-Mex, I'm not enough of a foodie to know) in our house. My kids love black bean and salsa quesadillas, breakfast enchilladas, tacos (of course)... So I'd really like to try some more Mexican recipes, but I'm finding a hard time finding some that work for my family. Here are the…

Does breastfeeding count?
I'm still nursing a 9 month old 3 times a day. No idea how much she is getting. Does that factor in to the number of calories I should be eating each day?
