I gained exactly two lbs over night and had an intense workout and lost about one of them ???? Why????

I think having friends on here would help me maintain my intake better by having someone to 'impress' and to have someone to look up to. I'd also like to know ideas for food that are good for you and are appetizing!
I've been exercising for about two months now and I've gained between 5-10lbs. My diet has gotten slightly better and I drink a cup of water for every meal and sometimes a bottle throughout the day so I'm not understanding. I do cardio and have a set weekly routine that involves using the machines in the gym.
How do I add this to my challenges? I'm new and I'm in!
