Tips for a good weigh-in
So, I’m in a weight loss challenge at my gym and we have our final weigh in in 2 weeks. I’m doing pretty well and think I’m in contention to place (lost about 7 pounds in 8 weeks). I want to make sure my weigh in reflects that and if there’s anything I can do in the coming days and weeks to make sure my weight is extra…

What do you guys do when you get a cold?
So, I'm going on day 4 of a whopping cold. I've been keeping up my low carb diet, but have been CRAVING like crazy. Today (day 4) I decided I would eat up to 100ish carbs, thinking that maybe I could use the energy/glucose to help me heal. I don't normally have colds for this long - what do you guys think? Symptoms:…

Calories in bacon
So, I've been enjoying bacon a lot recently - I feel like it adds a lot of flavor to food without *that* many calories. Anyway, so my process has been this: weigh out raw bacon, log it, cook it and then I cook something else (like a veggie) in the grease. if I use the grease to cook, am I undercounting my calories? Thanks!

I don't get intermittent fasting.
So, obviously keto and IF are the fad diets du jour. I've done a lot of research and thought about keto, and don't want to get into it, but I simply don't GET intermittent fasting. First of all, the 16/8 deal is just....skipping breakfast? TBH I don't really see how that's fasting or why that would have any metabolic…

Low carb / keto slow cooker and freezer meals
I'm trying to get more into meal prep and planning and I think freezer meals would work great for my family. Problem is, a lot of them are pasta based or have some kind of thick heavy sauce. I see a lot of suggestion for ziti, lasagna, etc. Anyone do meal prep using either the slow cooker or freezer meals? What kind of…

Is net calories meaningless?
Hey guys - help me out. I'm a little confused about what net calories exactly....are. So, as I understand it, there's no difference between exercise calories and calories burned through normal life activities. I have my fitbit hooked up, so all my steps are counted as exercise calories that reduce my net. I'm typically an…

So what do you guys put nut butter on?
I absolutely love nut butter - natural peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, etc. I just bought a super yummy fresh ground cashew butter from the grocery store and I got it home ready for a snack and I had a duh moment. I would usually put nut butter on toast or a banana, but neither of those are things I want to…

What are your strategies to avoid feeling deprived?
My SO pointed out to me that when I'm dieting he feels like he eats better, which got me thinking to strategies. So, a big weakness for me is eating out. I love getting takeout during the week and kind of consider myself a foodie. My go-tos are thai, pho, and sushi. I know, I know I can fit it in if I want to, and I do but…

Help me low-carbify this recipe
Hey guys - I have a favorite salmon recipe I make almost once a week that I'm trying to cut some carbs out of. It's basically a homemade honey mustard salmon - https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/honey-mustard-salmon-in-foil/ The sauce is honestly my favorite part! but it's so much sugar. Last week I tried it with more mustard…

5 Min LC Pumpkin Pie filling snack
Hi guys, I just made an amazing LC snack and had to share. 1/2 cup pumpkin 1/4 cup ricotta cheese 1 tsp honey a bunch of pumpkin pie spice OMG so good and so filling! It tastes JUST like pumpkin pie filling. I don't do artificial sweeteners so I just put a small amount of honey, but I'm sure splenda would be fine. I…

What are you doing for LISS?
Wanted to check in with other BBG girls on what they're doing for LISS? I've been doing walks around a local park - it's about a half mile to the park (uphill), and a half mile loop (uphill and downhill parts), and then obviously a half mile back (downhill), so what I like to do is walk there, around the loop 4 times, and…

I *should* be in keto, but am I?
hi guys - I have been trying to eat a low carb diet and have cut out grains and unnecessary sugars, but not necessarily trying to achieve ketosis. However, as I've gotten to enjoy more fat/protein/veg based recipes, I have naturally kept my carb count at what should be keto levels. But am I in keto? Here's my carb intake…

Weighing and counting wings
So, I've recently bought a food scale and am getting used to weighing everything. I'm making wings tonight - they're one of my fav foods and I figured making it homemade can help me control it. Anyway, problem is the logging. I logged my portion of 6 wings (raw with the bone in) and it was 665 grams, which would be 675…

Are there any benefits of moderate low carb diets?
Hey guys - I'm new to this lifestyle and reading a lot about keto. I'm starting out cutting grains and most starches (really potatoes) but right now I want to keep fruits and veggies heavily in my diet - like I still want a banana in the morning, you know? I've been doing it for 4 days now and keeping around 100 carbs.…

Low carbers - what do you eat for your "on the go" breakfast?
So, I've decided to try cutting carbs. I've realized I don't find them satisfying or satiating and since I'm aiming for 1200-1400 calories, there's not a lot of wiggle room. So, I'm trying to cut down to a moderate carb amount of 50-100 per day (from around 150-200). I basically am thinking I'll get all my carbs from…

Any spin lovers here?
Hey guys - I go on and off with spin for exercise a lot, but it's absolutely my favorite form of cardio. Back when I was in my early 20's I used to take spin class a few times a week and always found it effective at helping me lose a pound or two. I've recently gained quite a bit of weight for me (about 15 pounds) and am…
