Backpack Advice
I went to REI yesterday (fabulous experience!) and bought a new backpack for an upcoming multi-week walking trip on the Camino de Santiago. They suggested one with a frame, because it would ventilate my back, and because I have scoliosis. Did a 6+ mile walk this morning to make sure I liked it, and to start practicing. My…

Cold Hands
When my hands get the slightest bit cold, they don’t work well. I struggle to do buttons, zippers, texts, anything that requires small amounts of dexterity becomes very difficult. Anyone else experience this? Gloves don’t seem to help. It’s 48 degrees here, I just completed a 6+ mile walk, trying out a new backpack, and…

Grosssss, MFP!
That ad with the big glob of wax and dirt being pulled out of someone’s ear? Does MFP vet these ads? Or is this a subtle plot to make sure I lose my appetite for the rest of the day? Gag!!!!

Foods Disappearing From Search
When you don’t enter a food for thirty days, it doesn’t automatically come up when you’re logging foods. We were out of the country for several weeks. Now that I’m back, food that was in my regular rotation has naturally disappeared from auto fill, and I have to rebuild my regular foods for my diary. But, I can no longer…

Target Discontinuing Champion : Everything Left at 50% Off
FYI: Target is dropping their Champion workout clothing line in favor of a new one. All remaining items are half off in store, and most online items are half off as well. I loved their Champion gear. It’s sturdy and lasts, and comfy for mat classes, running and weights.

What Would You Ask a Dietician, a Year In?
I started 09/2018, and hover around 80 pounds or so down from SW. I am on a final push to lose what I think should be my last five. I thought it might be a good idea to make a followup appointment with my dietician. It's been a year. I do appx 11 hot yoga and pilates classes a week, averaged 7.4 miles a day in 2019…

Chai Latte Substitute
I learned to love chai lattes because of my dog. His favorite place to visit was the local coffee shop, since they would pet him lavishly and give him treats. I didn’t like coffee, so chai lattes became my excuse to let him visit. I’ve sorely missed them but yesterday lucked into a simple low cal substitute. A chai tea…

Whole Foods Bakery Posted Calories Accurate?
Visited Whole Foods for the first time in a while this afternoon. Surprised to see they are now clearly posting calorie counts in the bakery area. Some seemed reasonable compared to things I’ve seen on MFP, such as 140 calories for a two ounce serving of a baguette style bread. Others seemed all over the place. Cupcakes…

Anyone Tried Cocoringa?
Friend recommended something called cocoringa as a hot drink. It’s supposed to be hot chocolate-like. Anyone tried this before I invest (!!!) in a box? ETA: it’s 71 calories a serving, supposedly tastes milky, has 10g protein and they claim it has the equivalent of three servings of fresh vegetables in it.

Why Is It That Some Days......
Why is it that some days, you can barely, barely avoid going over your calorie goal? I often hit mine right to the target, after frantically tinkering with some little thing - like a stingy partial tablespoon of PBP or sadly enjoying a fraction of a serving of something. And then other days, you just pile on the food and…

Warm Snack Suggestions
Guys, since the temperature has dropped into the 60’s (!!!!!!), I am freezing my *kitten* off. It seems like I can’t get warm, even with sweaters and fleece lined booties and lots of hot tea. Last winter, following the initial weight loss, was bad, but this one is starting off on all the wrong foot. My usual snacks of icy…

Lidl Bakery Items
Anybody found a source for Lidl bakery nutrition? I treat myself to two peanut butter cookies a week, and we also like their small crusty dinner rolls. I don’t know if I’m grossly overcharging myself on them or not but I try to stay on the safe side. I’ve searched everywhere and can’t find anything.

Have Fun With This One
So, I have a confession. The Daily Mail has replaced chocolate as my secret vice. Have fun with this gem, y’all. Be sure to read the comments that follow. Grabbing popcorn...3...2...1...now.

First my desktop stopped working. Then my iPad. I’ve changed my password umpteen times and it keeps rejecting it. Yet I can still get in on my phone. Arrggggh!!!!!

Thanks, Madwife2009
No longer have an elderly dog running my life in 90 minute segments. So, at loose ends this morning, decided to go for a bike ride. I’ve never gone more than five miles before. Got to the halfway point, but instead of turning around, thought, “WTF, if @Madwife2009 can do seven miles with all she’s been through, well so can…

Ribs
This is kinda a weird question, As you’ve lost weight, do you still have “fat person ribs” that poke out at an angle over where your big belly would have been, and will they eventually flatten out?

Running / Walking Friction Burns
Did an unusually long run and walk this morning. I ended up with large red friction burns under my arms, from rubbing as I pump my arms. I didn’t realize I had done so til I climbed in the shower and they started stinging. Any suggestions for easing the burns, and prevention in future? I’ve gotten small ones before, but…

Apps Have Different Calorie Totals (iPhone versus iPad)
My iPad is reporting higher calories than my iPhone for the last several days, sometimes several hundred calories more. It seems to report some foods twice, or, if I swiped right on the iPhone to repeat yesterday’s meal, adds in ingredients from a week earlier. Anyone else having this problem?

Anyone Tried an Earthing Blanket?
Has anyone tried an earthing blanket? What was your experience? The idea is very simple. Humans have lost touch with the earth, due to shoes, floors in homes that raise us above it, high rises, etc, and thus the body has no way to drain pent up electrical charges back to the earth, which has its own electrical charge. Pent…

Fast Food Gripe
We are traveling and stopping at fast food simply because it’s expedient. Rural ND and MN, stops along the freeway are few. I hate these new computer monitor style menu boards! They don’t show the entire menu. I couldn’t find a better choice, placed my order, and after I’d stood there a minute, a salad menu popped up - and…

Running Tips To/From Grey Headed Possums
I am trying to take up running. The last time I ran was 45 years ago in 7th grade. Can anyone give me any tips? The first one I’ve learned for myself is don’t run immediately after breakfast. Is there a good Apple Watch interval app that doesn’t require a phone to start it?

The Gratefulness Lens
My yoga instructor gave her three year old a magnifying glass, and talked about how excited he was to look at everything (especially ants). She said it occurred to her, “What if you could look at life through a lens of gratefulness and find three things a day to be grateful for?” I’ve thought about that a lot since she…

Macros
Would someone please point me to a good explanatory thread about macros? I’m down almost 70, and I workout an average of three times a day: walking, training, vinyasa yoga and Pilates It’s time to pay attention to macros before I hurt myself. FWIW, my diary is open, but we were out of the country a month and things have…

Glutathione, CoQ-10
Doc prescribed me Glutathione and CoQ-10. Been taking both for three days. Noticed an uptick in energy yesterday, and today when working out. Today I am suddenly ravenous. Have not had experienced this at all during the last seven months of weight loss. I know it’s only three days, but energy and hunger are so unexpected…

Eyesight and Weight Loss?
I’ve searched and don’t really see this addressed. Has anyone’s eyesight changed with their weight loss? I had my eyes checked in October, before I started to lose. My prescription was strengthened a little bit but I didn’t get around to getting new glasses. I’m now down about 65 pounds since that exam, and my eyesight has…

Lidl
Has anyone else noticed that the calorie counts on many products from Lidl are less (sometimes significantly) than similar products recorded in MFP from other stores? Any reasonable explanation? Or are they just messing with our minds?

Kudos, Delta
Am currently on an international flight (seatbelt fits great, thankyaverymuch). I was just served a really nice meal. Well balanced, lots of mixed fresh fruit, cheese, chicken breast on lettuce. I ate all but the dressing and figured it at about 650 calories. I have to say, it was tasty and for airline food, far less…
