Hey Black People: I need hair help!
I hate doing my hair. Hate it! So, I've always had dreads. I had chemo and lost my hair, but it's grown back out now. The texture has changed, so it doesn't dread as easily as it used to. Consequently I have this dread-fro thing going on, and I'm liking it. So I'm going to go with it and see what happens. I tried looking…

Expresso bike riders? March miles challenge???
Hey, do you use them at your gym? I've been using them off and on, but I just finally registered online so I can keep track of mileage and find out how many calories I'm really burning. I'm wondering if anyone wants to do a March miles challenge with me, using Expresso.

Let's Restore Civiilty to MFP
Message boards are battlegrounds, lately. I promise to do my part to be as polite to each of as you I would if we were having a discussion face to face. It's OK if we disagree with each other! But we can still be kind

soy and breast cancer connection?
As I was chugging a big glass of soymilk, I realized I should look into this. I've heard that people with a history of certain cancers shouldn't eat soy. I didn't worry too much about it because a nutritionist whose opinion I trust said that it's best to avoid overly-processed soy (soy lecithin, modified soy protein, etc)…

struggling with being more attractive
Pretty please, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all, ok? I'm exposing some vulnerabilities here, so I'd appreciate it if everyone would try their best to be kind. Thank you. I've lost 73 pounds total. 40 in the last year. Dudes are looking at me. It's fun and cool, for the obvious reasons. But…

Is Yoga "Enough" to Strength Train?
A gym member and I were wondering if yoga was enough... enough what? Well in my case, I was wondering if yoga was enough strength training, or if I also needed to mix in some weights or Body Pump class or something. So, I think I got my answer. In the last two weeks I decreased my body fat by 2.3% and my BMI only decreased…

Hives/bumps/histamine reaction after running?
I used to run, and never had a problem with this. But today I just ran for 30 minutes out of the blue (I usually do the elliptical) and as soon as I was done I felt incredibly itchy and I had these bumps/welts of different sizes all over my body, kind of like mosquito bites. I also had that weird thing where the roof of my…

Curious about the body's decreased ability to burn calories
I'm curious about this. I do the elliptical every day for an hour. I try to always burn 800 calories. I wonder how long it's possible to maintain it the same amount of calories burned per hour as you lose weight? At 220 it was pretty hard because I was so out of shape. At 210 it was easier because I was a little fitter.…

do YOU enter your strength training info to MFP?
I really, really am curious about this. I tried a different thread, but it died out before I any kind of answer. I've entered strength exercises to MFP, and nothing seems to happen. I lift daily. I'm wondering what happens to the info you put in when you enter strength training exercises into MFP. I don't want to do the…

Why should I add my strength training exercise to MFP?
I'm not being a smartass. I lift a lot. I'm wondering what happens to the info you put in when you enter strength training exercises into MFP. I don't want to do the work of entering it all if I don't get a report, or something beneficial... PS: I've entered strength exercises, and nothing seems to happen. That's why I'm…

Healthy living as a celebration of life!
Hi, I just started MFP yesterday. I'm excited about it. My highest weight was 260. I lost 30 pounds a couple years ago, and I've lost 30 pounds since April by going to the gym most days and becoming vegan. I'm at 197 right now. Fairly recently I had breast cancer and went through treatment for that. That stress caused some…
