My head... Ba dum ching!

It's a brand of stationary bike. If you log in, it'll keep track of your stats for you. So, are you up for a challenge to complete x number of miles in March? I'm thinking I want to do 200 miles. I think that's pretty doable, for me. I'm kind of a gym rat.

Don't worry about doing too much too soon, as other people have said. You don't want to hurt yourself or get burned out. Maybe the Couch to 5k program could be helpful to increase your walking speed. During the running intervals, walk faster, and during the walk intervals walk at your normal pace.

Bump. Anyone up for a bike mileage challenge, period?

I do vinyasa flow yoga, and sometimes during class the sweat is dripping off my face onto my mat. I think yoga has been helping me lose weight, but I do also do a lot of cardio. I notice that I'm getting a lot stronger, and there's the whole muscles burn more calories than fat thing. Did you try it, or just watch it? Some…

-Alan Aragon [/quote] I've always suspected this ^^ so now I know. I'm glad to hear that the overall opinion is that breakfast isn't make or break. I don't do it very often, I'm just not hungry. I eat the bulk of my calories between 4pm and 10pm most days. I sometimes think I need to change that, but it works for me, and I…

I agree 1000%! I have had some success with emotional eating now that I've really been working on my mental and emotional health.

Ugh, yeah, depression... My friend and I were having a conversation about that Catch-22. You know you should get out and do something, go work out, call a friend, whatever it is that makes you feel better, but you CAN'T because you're depressed and have no motivation. She said that's what she's going to write her thesis…

Bump. Also, I'm a very lazy cook when I cook just for myself, which is most of the time. My go-to dinner is vegetable stirfry with beans seasoned with sesame oil and soy sauce. Sesame oil and soy sauce together is heaven!

Nice! I'm finally getting to the point that I exercise about 70% because it makes me feel amazing, 20% because it'll help me lose weight, and 10% because it'll help me to live to be an old weirdo (I'm a young weirdo now...ha).

I do. I eat a LOT of fruits and veggies, and they add up. Especially the fruit.
-
Great job!

My point is that we can disagree and still be polite. No one is saying that we all need to be blindly patting each other on the back.
-
It's so nice to read that so many of you make an effort to be polite, too! It is easy to let the negative comments overshadow the polite, helpful ones. I appreciate all of you who are kind!
-
I'm not referring to one topic, but message boards in general. As some other people have commented in this post, they see it, too. I'm not making a case out of it, I'm just saying that I promise to be polite. Thank you, and you Be Well also
-
I second that!
-
I agree, I find myself wanting to avoid message boards, which is SO sad because there's so much great help and support to be found. The negativity does have an icky effect on me, too. Negativity breeds negativity... so, I'm going to do my darndest to turn it around.

Nuts, beans, soy
-
I still disagree. But it's ok that we have different opinions
-
Well, I disagree, I consider body pump weight lifting... I'd say listen to the instructor. My personal experience is that I didn't see any major difference in my legs (I do cardio, weight lifting, and tons of yoga) even as I lost weight. And then BAM just this last week I noticed they're a lot more toned.

My bat wings (ha!) were pretty bad when I started to lose weight, and I was worried about them getting worse as I lost. I've been doing strength training consistently, and I noticed yesterday that my arm flab is shrinking. So, it seems to me that strength training is the best fix, but as other people have said, there will…

I'm vegan. I'm also a lazy cook when I'm cooking for just myself. My dinner every night is a massive pile of stir fried vegetables and some beans on the side. Breakfast is generally fresh fruit. I don't really eat lunch, but I do snack throughout the day, and I usually eat more fresh fruit and some nuts. Once in awhile…

Yes, you can post a thread and ask people to refrain from being negative. Whether people will respect your wishes is another thing.

I know I had to find something that clicked for me. I will NEVER EVER EVER get my heart rate up high enough on a bike. N-E-V-E-R. I don't know why, but it's just not going to happen. But put me on an elliptical or a treadmill, and I'll have my heart at 140-160 for an hour straight.
-
Steamed until it's bright green! I have three bunches in my fridge right now! Wow, I am really excited about asparagus...
-
Thanks for asking this. I was going to post a similar question, but didn't. Strength training makes me feel like a badass, so I recommend it. Plus I find I can eat a lot more when I strength train and still lose weight.

I went there, but it's a website for a pilates studio... huh?
