Does your fat go to just one place?

My question is rather simple-do you have an area of your body that is disproportionate to the rest of your body? If so, where?
Generally, why does this happen? Are there ways to avoid/fix/target this?

Personally, it's my stomach. I fluctuate around 105 pounds (as of right now) and I've slimmed down a lot since my highest at 118, mainly around the hips, arms, back and thighs. However, my stomach remains pretty much in tact as to when I began. And quite frankly, it has always been like this. I have a very noticeable "belly bump" that I need eliminated! This struggle is neverending! Any and all advice would be welcome :)

(a picture of what i'm trying to describe is available in my pictures! feel free to check out what I mean! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/photos/view/13793694)

Thanks so much in advance :)

Alas... I'm pretty sure it's mostly genetic. :(

Some people carry weight in the stomach, some in the thighs, some in the butt, and for some it's distributed relatively evenly.

There's not much you can do about it except lose the surplus fat and decide to be okay with your body shape. You might have to get really crazy lean to get rid of it.

    Well that's unfortunate! :(
I really hope this isn't the case, but if it is I will have no other option than to just accept it.
Since tomorrow is the start of a new month, I plan on giving it my all.
Hopefully after these next 30 days I will see a difference!
Thanks for your input, even though it scares me haha :)

Mine is my stomach - the rest of my family are skinny as hell so I don't know where they put it on!

    I do think it's genetic though :)

I never considered it could be genetic.
At least I'm not alone :)

Same area for me, have lost 23 lbs so far, but that little pouch ain't going! :grumble: The only way to shift it is to lower your/our body fat further. When it is the last place to go be warned, it can take a looooooong time. The body sees this area as its emergency stores for times of famine, so it realy doesn't want to give it up.

As it has been pointed out many, many times before, it ain't possible to spot reduce I'm afraid. We are either going to have to accept that it may take way longer to shift this final store, or accept that this what nature intended! I'm still in the wanting to shift the last bit phase, but if it requires unrealistic effort or cutting favourite things like wine and the occasional delicious chocolatey treat, then I'm afraid me and my little pudding are going to hav to become friends

Good luck, you look great already!

Congrats on the 23 pounds :D I guess we're both in the same boat! It recently came to my attention that even though it's gone down slightly, it hasn't budged much in a while. So I guess my only option is to work towards lowering my body fat! Best of luck to us both :) Hopefully giving up our little treats will prove beneficial in the long run haha :) And thanks so much, that's very kind of you!

You certainly aren't alone in this. I've got the same problem too and refuse to accept it as a genetic thingy (even if it really is lol). I strongly believe that something can be done about it, cos it wasn't there when I was in my late teens! Am too looking at lowering my body fat and hopefully someday, that annoying belly will disappear too. Best of luck to you!

I like your attitude :) I'm having a hard time accepting it as well!
Best of luck to you, too :D

It's such a burden! I still have about 10-15 more pounds of fat to lose, so I'm not quite there. I've done the 30 Day Shred, which included strength training here and there, and I start Ripped in 30, which is very similar. Good luck hun :)

I feel your pain, I've got a belly too and it shows no signs of shifting
Like others have said I think its partly genetic, we all have a natural body shape and different places where we gain more weight.
Bright side though: The middle is easily covered and disguised by clothes whereas a huge *kitten*, chunky legs, fat arms are not so much. I often get a downer about my belly but when I do I have a word with myself. I look slim in clothes, even shorts and vests. It's only unclothed I look a bit flabby and whoever sees that is either going to accept me as I am or jog on!!!

ETA: I've just looked at your pics and I would kill for your belly!! Yeah it sticks out a wee bit but you have no overhang like me. That should be easily disguised by the right clothes... hell I would even bother disguising it if it were mine. It looks fine

Good news for you, it looks like the fat is stored quite homogeneously based on ypur pictures.
That mean across your fat burn (which is NEVER spotted) you'll be slowly thinner.
The trick is not to create a way too big calories deficit. If you do such, you'll have stretch marks. Burning slowly will allow the skin to become stretched accross your fat burn :)

Definitely my belly. This is a new thing though, when I was younger I was distinctly pear-shaped. It must be either ageing or introducing running/exercise in general that made the difference.

The stubborn fat requires a strict diet and a specific protocol. That SF are zones which are much less/ not irrigated, making the fat cell getting used less (lipolysis less efficient). It's totally feasible - but takes times.
Intermittent Fasting can help to get rid off the Stubborn fat, also thermogenic foods :)

I am intrigued. O: Can you explain intermittent fasting and thermogenic foods?

fat also sticks to your internal organs not just on the outside. That's were the danger lies!

Haha I definitely take advantage of clothes to cover it up! :) However, as well all know, bikini season isn't too far away...hence my worries ;) But thank you so much for the compliments! This actually made my day :D

I guess that is good news :D

    Thank you, everyone <3
