What dosha type are you?
I'm curious to learn what dosha types we have here in our little group. I know me and our founder are total opposites! : ) If you're new to Ayurveda, check out the Online Resource page at Ayuveda.com. You can take a dosha quiz, and learn more about the basics of Ayurveda before committing to buying any books or supplies.…

Ayurvedic Daily Schedule
Several of the Ayurvedic sources I've referenced (books, online) have suggested daily schedules for each of the different doshas. For example, as a Kapha, it's recommended that I rise before the sun (between 4:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. depending on the source). Do you keep an Ayurvedic schedule? Have you found it helpful? Do…

Ayurveda Books
Please feel free to share the books you are using in your Ayurvedic journey here! I've found Ayurvedic Cooking for Self-Healing by Usha Lad & Dr. Vasant Lad very helpful. It is full of wonderful, delicious recipes and has chapters on the principles of Ayurvedic medicine as well. It's a great starter book.

First Day, First Meeting, New Friends?
I'm going to my first OA meeting this evening. I'm nervous and excited. I've been all over the OA website to learn all I can about the steps and the traditions and the tools. I feel like I'm ready to take this step toward recovery. I'm looking for OA friends here on MFP. Maybe we can support each other?

Fasting
I'm curious to know if any of you fast as part of an Ayurvedic lifestyle. A couple of the books I have suggest Kaphas fast one day a week. I'm not sure about other doshas. Do you do it for spiritual reasons? For longevity? For detoxing? All of them combined? What benefits have you noticed?

water
What do the books in your collection (or info received from a professional) say about drinking water? How much? Does how much differ by dosha? For Kaphas: Have you found that you feel better by drinking less water? (or not over-drinking) Does anyone drink water first thing in the morning from a copper cup? (as suggested by…

Is weight loss possible on Abilify?
(I apologize if I'm repeating a previously asked question. I'm new to the group.) I'm on Ability 10 mg for GAD and MDD. I've been on it for a while an have had a very difficult time losing weight. My doctor asks me if I've gained each time I see him (I haven't, thank goodness) but that tells me the potential to gain weight…

The Dharma of Food
Just by happenstance, I recently learned about a seminar by Arun Deva (http://yogarasayana.wordpress.com/) in LA this weekend 2/9/2013 called the Dharma of Food. It's being held at the Sivanada Center (http://www.sivananda.org/la/) in Marina del Rey. From the flyer: "In the last 200 years or so we have weakened our ties to…

Dr. Deepak Chopra's Perfect Weight: Hunger Experiments
"Eat whenevery you're hungry, but when you're not hungry, don't eat." The first task we're given by Dr. Chopra in his book Perfect Weight is to learn to read our body's hunger. "Remember: hunger is simply a signal from your body's intelligence that it wishes to eat and is prepared for the proper metabolism of the food that…

Any Buddhists here?
My name is tmc. I noticed that there wasn't a Buddhist or Buddhism group here on MFP. I wondered if there are any other Buddhists here (or folks who are using mindfulness, meditation, Eastern philosophy in their weight loss efforts). I'll start a group if there are enough of us to keep it up and running and useful. Be…

Are you using Bob Harper's Are You Ready! program?
I'm getting the book (it's on its way in the post) soon and am wondering if there are any groups following the same program. I did a search but didn't find anything. Would anyone be interested in a Are You Ready! group?
