yoga
Due to some health issues, I shouldn't be doing "stressful" exercising. I took yoga in college, and LOVED it, so figured I would begin there. I know the best way to learn and do yoga is in person, but currently that won't fit in my budget. Anyone have any good- not too 'pop cultury' dvd suggestions I can do at home?

Ways to reduce sodium and still satisfy?
Hey all! I've been pretty good staying within my other macros, but I'm always high on sodium. I naturally retain water, and know this could be a culprit as to why. HOWEVER, I love salty foods. For example: a lean lunch meat sandwich on whole wheat with spinach, and a side of all natural chips and a fruit isn't all that bad…

Bikers
Okay, I am doing a big ride for MS next week, and we did a practice 30 mile ride today. I did very well, but my knees are killing me this evening. Any tips besides some motrin?

Teacher Friends...
Okay, our first teacher work week is next week. Today is our first official day. I always pack my meals during the school year, but I'm wondering how to keep so little calories. Today and next week will be "practice" because I'll still be able to work out EVERY day... after that I know I won't Tuesday or Thursday because I…

Why do I crave when I'm SLEEPY?
I remember reading once that there's a biological reason of why we crave "comfort" foods when we're tired and/or stressed, but I can't remember what it is. Do any of you nutrition buffs know? It's such a pain because of course if you're tired or stressed, healthy food and some exercise can really turn your attitude…

New question for morning workout people...
I was not the OP of the last morning exercise topic, but I read it and it inspired me. I'm a teacher and work a 2nd job on Tuesdays and Thursdays until after 8 (then of course I have to eat dinner and get everything ready for the next day). I was trying to figure out how to keep exercise in everyday M-F when I saw the last…

Suggestions for a later/small "dinner"?
What's something you would eat this late that has at least 300 calories or so, but little to no protien, and feels like a meal (from things you'd probably already have in an average refrigerator/pantry? Had a full meal at 4:00, then exercised (and am starting to realize I'm hungry)... it's 8:45, I need to clean, still, and…

Bottoms of feet hurt...
As I've been increasing the intesity of my cardio wokouts, I notice the bottoms of my feet are sore. This happens after walking long distances, too (for example after a day in Washington, DC), any of you body experts know why, and what I can do to help it (example: a specific kind of shoe insert). Thanks in advance.

Boobs
Now that I have your attention... why are they always the LAST things to come when gaining weight, and the FIRST things to go when losing? The one thing I want to keep, and they're shrinking before my eyes, meanwhile I see no difference anywhere else yet (only about an 8-10 lb loss so far, but still)

Boobs again... question for guys
1st: Read my last post about them... then answer below. Are men okay with the shinking boobs when weight is lost? They are the last thing to get bigger when I've gained weight, and they're the first things to go when I lose... just curious. LOVED the comments from everyone on the last post.

A healthy attitude about food...
Put this in my blog, but wanted to share with people who aren't my "friend" and may not see my blog. Since I've been more serious about MFP, I've noticed many people feeling badly when they eat sweets, or carbs, etc. but they are exercising and eating well overall. I'm not trying to be insensitve to anyone's goal, and…

TV while exercising?
I didn't realize how much I depend on the distraction of the TV when using my apartment complex gym, until today. Let me start by saying that usually I'm not a "gym" person. I prefer being outdoors. However, I've gone through spurts where using the machines in the gym where I live become the best fitness option (i.e.…

Add me as a friend if...
1.) You are more concerned with how healthy you are than the number on the scale (at a point in your life where there's SO much else that's more important, and you realize people love you just the way you are, even when you don't) 2.) The number on the scale provides motivation anyway (b/c GOSH it's nice to actually zip…

Teacher w/ NO THYROID... worried about school starting!
Hi everyone, I'm a middle school language arts teacher living in North Carolina, originally from Rochester, NY and Coral Springs, FL (yeah, I know, but actually AM from both). I had thyroid cancer 2 years ago, and since then I have put on more weight than ever before. I had always been in pretty good shape (played…
