Newbie here
Well I started 5:2 diet this week, Monday was my fast day and again tomorrow. Over the years I have tried every diet under the sun including the "sensible" eating plan of 1200 a day as recommended by MFP but I still ended up overeating and overweight. So this is my last resort and I hope it works. Judging on first day, my…

A newbie to 5:2
Watched the documentary, ordered the book and soon to start the 5:2 diet next week and hoping it will work. Really like the sound of eating what you want and not having to count calories on feeding days! However, worried I may overeat and lose track of cals and as a result, not lose weight. Do you stick to your recommended…

Conflicting advice from diets about WHEAT
1. First they say - "carbs are evil" 2. Then they say "You need carbs for energy. Good carbs are good for you" 3. I just recently heard that it is wheat that gives you a fat belly 4. Bran seems to be the highest form of fibre, along with fruits and veg. Recommended daily intake they say is 25gm for women 30 for men. I…

Have you tried the Biggest Loser diet?
This is basically it: 4 x fruit/veg 3 x protein 2 x wholegrains (i.e. carbs, potato etc) 1 x extra for fats, oil, sugar, alcohol (equivalent to 200 cals). I've been failing badly lately so this is a new start for me. What's your opinion, is it a good thing or not? Thanks in advance

Two meals a day? Maybe even 3.
I'm going to try it! Eating 4 - 6 smaller meals a day just doesn't work. I end up feeling more hungry, overeating, those "small" meals can easily lead to a bigger meal and I just don't feel satisfied. I found this. Interesting read, but it can be confusing when there are so many conflicting facts out there. Has anyone…

How many meals a day
I've heard that having 4 - 6 small meals a day is more effective for weight loss, yet I have read this article saying that this might not work for some people and that sticking to 3 meals a day is more effective. What do you think or what works for you?

Temptations
When you're faced with a craving or you're out somewhere and there's a feast goin on or you're at home and you can't get to sleep, so you get hungry and the food in fridge starts staring at you - how do you stop yourself from bingeing? What is your mental motivation that stops you from bingeing. Silly question I know but…

Starving
This is the ONLY way that I can lose weight. By being hungry. 1200 calories is enough food but I have to go under 1200 if I want to see a result. I still exercise nearly every day but I can't burn it up as fast as I used to. Probably my fault. All those years of feast or famine. All those stupid fad diets. Frustrating…

Message from Buddhist scriptures
“You must learn to be moderate in eating, and eat only enough to remain healthy, and fit for trance. For excessive food obstructs the flow of the breath as it goes in and out, induces lassitude (lack of vitality), sleepiness, and kills all valour. As too much food has unfortunate consequences, also starvation does not…

Calorie food calculator
Hi, I'm new, only been here 2 days, please see my food diary for today, I had a few too many roast potatoes for dinner, a white bread bacon/egg sandwich for breakfast, see for yourself - and I can't believe I still have 454 calories remaining! What am I doing wrong? This seems too good to be true.

Help! Temptations
It's late at night, I can't sleep, I've been good all day but now feel like bingeing out on the leftovers in fridge, roast chicken and potatoes, how do you stop yourself when you feel tempted?
