Fitness during lockdown - what are you doing, and how do you stay motivated?
Hi all, Between 2018 and 2019, I lost about 75 pounds. I was maintaining pretty solidly, but this lockdown has been extremely hard, for a few reasons. First, I'm most successful when I integrate fitness into my lifestyle - I'm not usually successful at just forcing myself to exercise. In other words, adopting a biking…

Balancing work stress with healthy habits/success stories of getting back on track after setbacks
In 2013, I lost 55 pounds. It was awesome. I lived with a good friend, and we got healthy together. We consistently left the house to talk on long walks (instead of on the couch); we joined volleyball leagues and played multiple times a week; we biked together; we rock climbed. I didn't make all these changes overnight,…

Two airline NSVs
Right now (yay in-flight wi-fi!) I'm flying out west for a conference I also attended in March 2012. It's the first time I've flown since then. Last summer, I started losing weight, and now I've lost about 50 pounds -- enough for the effects to be very noticeable. As a result, I now have two major NSVs: #1: The restriction…

NSV - easier to wear heels!
Okay, this is a weird one, and I'm kind of wondering if I'm the only one. In the past, when I wanted to wear heels, I had to wear comfy shoes to work, and then change into heels once I got there. Now I've lost about 45 pounds, and it's way easier to wear heels all day -- it doesn't hurt at all. This isn't because I wore…

Calling all rock climbers: improving your climb
Hi all, I'm pretty new to rock climbing. I tried it back in August for 2-3 weeks, and after a really disastrous class, I didn't come back for 4 months. Now I'm picking it up again, and since I weigh considerably less, it's a little easier. However, I've still got a lot to lose (don't let my ticker fool you - I'm just…

43 pounds gone (with pics)
I never thought I'd be posting in the Success Stories forum. While I'm planning to lose more weight, I took progress photos yesterday that mirrored ones from six months ago, and I was surprised to see a real difference. First, the backstory. I'm 5'9"/5'10"ish. Size 16 was my default size for so long that I still look for…

Zephyr HxM + Android phone
Hi all, I recently got a Polar FT4, and I've been fairly happy with it, but I'm looking for an HRM that can use my phone as the sensor. I saw that the Zephyr at http://www.zephyr-technology.com/store/9600.0112.html can do this, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried it out. I've seen a few posts on it, but my big question…

Roll Call 7/31 - Did YOU finish today's workout?
Making today's thread! First time I've done 30DS in the morning (as opposed to evening) in like two weeks. Phew. Day 8 Level 2 down - trying to decide whether to go to Level 3 now since I'm counting my rest days into the 30. A little scared though, since I'm still struggling with L2. :)

Anybody else gaining weight?
I just finished Day 3 of the shred, and while I feel pretty awesome about that, I'm getting discouraged. I didn't expect to lose weight immediately, but I did expect to maintain. I gained 2 pounds the morning after my first workout, and another pound the morning after my second. All this despite being under my calorie…

Plank madness!
After a level 2 workout, I am sensing a problem coming my way... I am *awful* at planks. Like really really awful. I can barely do 3-5 seconds if I'm resting on my elbows and I'm worse if I'm on my hands. My toes kinda slide out from beneath me and I can't stay up on them. I don't know how to go about fixing this, or what…

Roll Call for 7/12/12 - Finished today's workout?
Done with today's workout! I took a "rest" day yesterday that wasn't too rest-y since it included an hour of swimming. Back to it today, and the break did make it a little more challenging. I feel sooo much better once I'm done though. P.S. Want to see another side of Jillian? I came across this story:…

Roll Call for 7/9/12 - Finished today's workout?
I love the idea of a daily roll call thread, so I made today's. :) I started my second 30DS at 6:45 before work, and it was really worth it. I'm not normally a morning workout person, but I feel so much better now! I picked up weights yesterday and used them today, just little two pound things, but it made a big difference…
