Portion size of liver for a 25 # dog
My mother’s dog is old (supposedly 126 yo in people years) and will not eat dog food anymore. She has been feeding him vegetables, sweet potato, and beef liver. She is wondering how big the portions of the liver should be. Any thoughts?

How many of you know the (non-vaccinated) Covid hospitalization rate without googling it?
I ask because a recent Bill Maher episode made a big deal about people getting this wrong, and more importantly, an anti vax site, to which I will not link, is using this as a talking point. Was the (non-vaccinated) Covid hospitalization rate widely discussed? I've had the death rate in my head for a year but my impression…

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Irish Soda Bread
I've long been aware that the Irish Soda Bread recipe I use from the Joy of Cooking wasn't traditional. While googling to see if I could use oil instead of butter, I found this interesting Q&A. https://www.inquirer.com/philly/entertainment/20080228_Jim_Coleman_.html I'll keep adding caraway and currants, as that is…

Too Much on the Bottom and Not Enough in the Middle: Nanaimo Bar Outrage
I got a big laugh out of this story. I've made Nanaimo bars once and only once - too dangerously yummy! https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/12/world/canada/Nanaimo-Bar-Outrage-Canada.html?smid=em-share An online post of a Nanaimo bar photo swiftly prompted criticism in Canada and discussion about the treat’s ideal proportions.…

"Foodie Calls"
Heard about this on another thread and thought that it might be a fun discussion topic. Who's done this? Who thinks it was done to them? Dark personality traits predict women’s propensity to go on deceptive “foodie calls” for a free meal "...a foodie call occurs when a person, despite their lack of romantic attraction to…

What went wrong with my Norwegian Potato Flatbread (Lefse)?
https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/278136/norwegian-potato-flatbread-lefse/ I did two things differently from this recipe and needed to use an extra cup of flour so it wouldn't be too sticky to roll. 1. I mixed it in the food processor rather than by hand 2. I refrigerated it overnight rather than for the two hours as I…

How Foods May Affect Our Sleep
I've been experimenting with my bed time snack and have found what I have really does make a difference in my sleep. Last night I got almost 9 hours straight, which, as someone who might wake up once, twice, or three times is crazy! I've been separately working on increasing fiber and decreasing saturated fat and now that…

Suggestions for homemade cookies that will be shipped across the world
What cookies travel well? Am shipping homemade cookies from the US to the Middle East. Recipient is not picky. I'm good at packaging. I anticipate a long travel time so am wondering what doesn't get stale or break up easily.

3 Recipes For Cooking Up A Scaled-Down, Low-Key Thanksgiving Meal
This was on the radio today, too late for me, my menu is set and I am all about tradition for Thanksgiving so the first two recipes don't do it for me. But I am definitely going to make the mini apple pies next month! They look ideal for prepping in advance, freezing, and cooking when needed.…

Videos for "Flour Water Salt Yeast"

Recommendations for cold laser therapy device to use at home (golfer's elbow)
I've had pain on the inside of my elbow (golfer's elbow) for coming up on two years now. My PT gave me exercises, which don't help, and two cold laser therapy treatments, which helped amazingly. Unfortunately, they currently do not have slots for anyone other than post-surgery patients and no prediction for when this will…
