C25K Distance intervals vs. Timed intervals
I'm currently using an app called RunDouble for C25K, and I'm currently on Week 3 Day 2. RunDouble actually offers two versions of C25K. The first is the traditional version where you run/walk for timed intervals, regardless of distance. They also offer a version where you run/walk for distance intervals, regardless of…

Protein powder recipes
Looking for some ideas on recipes for protein powder. Thought we could all share some of our experiments! My favorite so far has been a chocolate milkshake. 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, half cup of skim milk, one scoop of chocolate whey powder. Occasionally, I'll add a banana or a touch of peanut butter. Probably not the…

Starting today!
Hi all! I will be starting the new rules program today and I'm extremely excited! I'm 5'10" and around 165. I wear a size 12L. When I started MFP I weighed almost 190 pounds and was a size 14L. Since then I have counted calories and completed the C25K program. Running has become a new favorite hobby of mine. I feel really…

First 5K Done
Did my first 5K yesterday, finished in 36:31. I did have to walk about a quarter of the last mile (and I had to take an unexpected pee break at the turn around point, lol). I'm really proud of myself for finishing the race, although I little disappointed I couldn't run the whole thing. There were a few factors that…

First 5K!
Yesterday I ran my first 5K to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, or PanCan! I had three great friends there to support me and I trained and ran in honor of my grandma, who passed away from the disease about a year and a half ago (after being diagnosed just 2 months prior). I'm so proud to have been able to do…

W5D3 Today!
Doing the dreaded week 5 day 3 run tonight! I'm feeling pretty good about it because W5D2 went really well for me! However, the weather also decided to have about 200% humidity today for the first time this summer. I'll probably wait until later this evening to try and avoid some of it. Would love to hear some w5d3 success…

NSV - C25K
Had a NSV tonight. I actually was able to complete the dreaded C25K Week 5 day 3 run on my first try! For those unfamiliar, this is a 5 minute warm up, 20 straight minutes of running, and a 5 minute cool down. I actually ran 21 minutes and did it at a 5 mph pace, and I wasn't completely dead tired when I was done! I have…

Newbie
Okay, so I've been on this journey since January 2011, sidetracked by a back injury last summer and the holidays, but overall I've lost close to 25 pounds. I've been about 4-5 pounds above my lowest weight of 163 for a week or two after doing some traveling and eating poorly and can't seem to shake them. Before that, I had…

Starting today!
So yesterday (because I was mad) I took the dog out and for the first time in my life I ran a full 5K. (Okay, so I walked about a half mile of it, but still, I'm not a runner and never have been so I was proud of myself.) I set a goal to run a 5K for pancreatic cancer here later this summer and decided this would be a good…

Question for a.m. exercisers
I'm trying to get into the routine of exercising in the mornings which really isn't something I've ever done before. My question is when do all you morning exercisers find is the best time to eat breakfast? This morning I ate a banana and had a glass of water before working out and then threw it up about 20 minutes after…

Rad Tech Week
Any radiologic technologists out there trying to avoid packing on the calories this week as we celebrate Rad Tech Week? We've had Panera Monday and Subway Tuesday, and still have Olive Garden Wednesday, Sweet Treat Thursday and Pizza Friday yet to come! I love rad tech week, but it's really making dieting difficult! :P

Physical Therapy
Hey all, Just throwing this out there. I'm currently in a seemingly never ending stretch of physical therapy due to a condition called spondylolysis, which is a stress fracture of a specific part of a vertebral bone. I have a lumbar spine anomaly that causes some other problems/pain as well. What this all boils down to is…

Finally hit 20!
This morning I finally hit the 20 pound mark! I've been plateaued for 2-3 months, just haven't been able to break 20, so I'm very excited!!! Feels like the next 15 will come much easier now. :) Anyone else hit a landmark this morning?
