Sprint triathlon training
I am training for my first ever triathlon. Sprint distance of 750 m open water swim, 20 km cycle and 5 km run. Although I am a strong swimmer and fitter and faster at running than when I began a few years ago, it is the swim I am most wary of (we will be swimming in the Bristol UK docks), never used a wetsuit for swimming…

The Eating Academy
An interesting and well put-together website and blog thingy...I don't recommend things much, but I am going to read through this one for sure... http://eatingacademy.com/start-here

One year ago...
...I had my right hand in plaster (broke two fingers rather badly, had them wired in), my boyfriend needed space so he could cheat on me with some easy floosie he met in a night club, I was 2 stone heavier (28 lbs), I was unfit, rather depressed and basically looking forward to the worst Christmas of my life. This year I…

Any barefoot or minimalist footwear runners out there?!
I have decided to go barefoot after many years of shin splints, achilles tendonitis after runs and the like. I do own vibrams but admit to having suffered slight exuberance the first couple of goes I had previously. According to running shops and their measurements I over-pronate and I have always had to have deep…

Boxing
Am a little bored with lifting lifting lifting so have started boxing for half an hour after my back lifts day (barbell rows, pull ups and similar). Felt good this morning...the deloads feel so strange, especially the squats and deads...it is almost like lifting nothing, but I guess they work...so will keep at…

Cycle 2, week 1
Yep, getting there...not sure if the deload helped or not as I seem to be waning on the heavier sets this week...will see when it comes to pushing over my last weights. Seems a slow way of increasing, time will tell though how this compares to the stronglifts 5 x5 with madcow added for the stalls...hmmmmmm...I am eating at…

Week 4, cycle 1
Wow deloading feels so strange. It all feels so light and the workout is really short. Anyway, filling in with pull ups, push ups, dips, jumping squats, kettlebell swings, that sort of thing. Began running this week also. Looking forward to cycle 2.

Body fat percentage changes
Hey ladies! Just a quick one to let you know my progress. Am still doing heavy lifting (Wendler's 5/3/1), this week is my de-load with my programme, finding it odd as it is so quick and easy to go lighter, but filling the time with push ups, pull ups, jumping squats, dips, that kind of thing. Feeling strong...also ran 4.6…

Non weight related success story
Just thought I would throw my little success out there. To me it is rather big. I began my fitness journey many years ago whilst I was still in the midst of overcoming an eating disorder. I class myself as still recovering, because, although I have had 3 clear years, of no watching the scale, watching the calories, being…

Second gym accident
Bah! First gym accident happened shortly after I started there in April. Picked up a 20 kg plate and tried to put it away, instead smacked the back of my hand on the rack...ugh! Bruise, ice pack, could still carry on with session. Second gym accident, last night, warmed up with some rowing, goblet squats, bent over rows as…

Last four weeks
Woo hoo! Last four weeks of stronglifts strength training before I change things up and trim the fat. Not sure what to do when I am done, as want to reduce body weight by going into slight deficit and then get back to strengthening up again to build some more lean mass hopefully. Do not want to do countless hours of cardio…

Veins/vascularity
I find myself liking the fact I can see huge veins one moment (arms, chest, shoulders, stomach) and really being repulsed the next. Anyone else have thoughts/feelings or anything to say on the subject of their veins becoming larger, more visible and seemingly multiplying when you've been lifting heavy for a while or doing…
