Is weight loss really as easy as Calories in calories out? R is there more to it than that?

What staples do you always keep in your pantry?
When I shop I tend to buy the same items, but unless I comb my recipes before I shop I never seem to have the staples I need to make a variety of healthy food options. Can any of my fellow MFPs give me some ideas for items to always keep on hand so this won't be so much of a problem?

Natural or added? Are all sugars related equal?
Is there a nutritional difference between Added sugar and naturally occurring sugar in our diet? If I so much as each one serving each of fruit and dairy I'm over my daily allotment. I'm perplexed. I did a search for this subject on the internet and this site and still don't have an answer.

I know you burn more calories, gain strength and tone up when you build muscle. But how long does it take to build a pound of muscle? I'm strength training three times a week and doing cardio at least five times a week. When can I expect to notice the difference?

Heavy yard work should count for what?
I was busting serious butt this morning. Raking up hay in the goat yard and dumping it in the burn pile took about an hour.
