Looking for women's lifting success stories
If you have 'em, share away -- share your pics! I have become a little obsessed over the fact I have gained about 4 lbs since last summer and I would LOVE to see some female lifters who weigh more now than they used to. I am putting the hard work in in the gym and I most days I am pretty decent with my intake, but I have…

Lifters - cardio question
If you lift (say, at least 3 times a week), and you also do cardio, how long are your sessions? I do three 60-75 minute strength training sessions a week (various muscle groups) and then I do three 5K runs a week (approx. 25-26 minutes). I have been lifting 20 months now and am just wondering if I am on track or if I…

Strength training 17 months; consistently up in weight?
Hi all! I am looking for help from those (especially women) who have been lifting for awhile. I am trying not to focus too hard on the scale, but am wondering if in general, it is normal to just overall weigh more when strength training (versus not). I know in the past when I was just doing cardio, I was 124-125 lbs (I am…

Music: UK Grime, anyone?
I have found some great mixes on Youtube and I put them on my mp3 player to workout to. I had never heard of it before accidentally stumbling across it when I was looking for workout mixes. Anyone else?? Or am I alone in my craziness? It's the best music to workout to, IMHO. LOL

What level should I set the Scooby/TDEE calculator to?
I just want to make sure my caloric intake is what it should be. I am working out 6 days a week: 3 of those days are hard cardio (elliptical for 36 minutes; occasionally swimming laps instead); the other 3 days I warm-up with cardio (16 minutes) and then do about 45 minutes of strength training. I use the heartrate monitor…

Is this just normal for colder weather?
I swear this happens every year. I am up about 4 lbs. I've been working out just as hard as ever (6 days a week), making sure I'm eating (mostly) right, and drinking all my water. Yet my scale says I'm up about 4 lbs. I swear this happened last year too. I do weigh myself every morning, after I've peed, and before I have…

125 lbs to 125 lbs, no tone to on my way to becoming toned!
 Hey all. A little background: I work full-time during the day and have a part-time photography business that keeps me busy. I also have 3 children, ages 6, 3, and 2. I do take them with me to the Y every day, sun, rain, or snow, so they play at the childcare center while I workout downstairs. I joined the Y last…

Better in your 30s than in your 20s?
:) I feel like I am. I have never been bigger, but in my 20s, my only form of exercise was power walking. I did it for 12 years. It became so boring to me, like a chore. I wasn't really even sweating. I decided last September that I needed something new so I got a family Y membership and found a new form of cardio…

How many minutes between sets?
Just as the title says, how much of a break do you take between? I usually do about 2 minutes. Sufficient?

Exercise as therapy
In the past year or so at work, additional duties have been piled on me. I work full-time and clean my house on weekends but the clutter stresses me out. I have noticed that since I began working out back in September (and really kicking it into high gear mid-January) that of course, some of those things around the house…

How many miles on your car, and what make/model/year?
What kind of car do you drive (if multiple vehicles, list all)? What is the mileage at right now? As for me, I have a 2007 Ford Focus with 93K miles. Bought it in 2008 and it had ~28K on it. We have 3 kids in carseats in back (yes, they fit, you just need to get narrow carseats like the Radians). My dream car (no…

Six months of fitness; 3 months of MFP!
I started my fitness journey 6 months ago when I was looking to become more active. With 3 young children (5.5, 3, and 20 months), it was becoming hard to exercise, so I joined the Y and made it part of my routine (at first, just 2-3 days a week). Mid-January is when I joined this site and really kicked it up a notch,…

HyPeR!!!!
Working out has made me, a high energy person already, more hyper. Has anyone else found this? I have tons of energy and just want to workout all the time, even though I really only have time to go to the gym once per day. And my job (sedentary mostly, office HR desk job) doesn't allow me to just go do it. Is this just…

Heartrate monitor vs. machine
Just ordered myself the Polar FT4. I am curious to see the calories burned vs. what the machine tells me. I do the elliptical 7 days a week (and strength training 2-3 days a week; pushups every day). I am impatient and suppose I can answer this when the device arrives, but what has been your experience (if you have a HRM,…

Losing boobage?
This is one of my fears. I want a nice, toned core but I don't really want to lose the boobage. I feel like they already have gone down some, but also, my nurslings are getting older so that could be part of it. I am trying to figure out at what level I can continue my current routine and be happy where I'm at. I think I'm…

Success? Pics of progress....
Back story: I am a full-time working mother of 3 kids (ages 5, 3, and 18 months). Last fall, I joined the Y and initially made it there 2-3 times a week. In mid-January, I joined this site and kicked up my workouts to 6-7 days a week and started watching my diet a lot more. Note, my weight really didn't change much. I am…

Where does one get body fat measured?
I am asking out of curiosity. I have never had that done. I have heard you can buy calipers, right? I would be afraid of measuring wrong. Does anyone do this on a regular basis?

Ab help needed (with progress pics).
Background: I have 3 kids within 4 years (5.5 yrs, 3 yrs, and 18 mos.) and I feel like my abs don't stand a chance because of that, but I'm trying. I do 6 days of cardio (31 minutes on the elliptical, burning anywhere from 350 - 400 ish calories) and I work it hard with spurts of "sprints" where I go faster and bring my…

Is it true?
Do carbonated beverages, including sparkling water (which I love) cause your stomach to look bloated? I have an affinity for my Klarbrunn, but would have to give it up if it means my stomach will look better. LOL. I figure there is some truth to this? Any personal experience?

What's on your mp3 player?
I know this has probably been asked before, but anyway... What do you listen to to get you motivated? I like basically everything except country and am looking for some good tunes to add to the mix. Right now I have some pop, Pearl Jam (not really "workout" beat, but I like the music), and some other random stuff.
