Cardio & Weights - help me be efficient!
Question: I'm always reading about (and seeing videos) about how its all about the lifting (more so than cardio), but when I prioritize weights, I really don't see a lot of movement on the scale (and I have at least 20 but more ideally 40 lbs to lose). Any advice on the most productive use of time in the gym? (I can put in…

What am I missing?
I’m a little embarrassed to write this because I’m a big believer in calories in, calories out and weight loss being a math equation. But, I’m struggling to see sufficient progress and perhaps someone can offer a nugget advice that will be helpful. Over the last ten weeks I’ve counted calories carefully. Ensuring I’m…

The Elliptical
When I use an elliptical machine, am I actually burning calories at a rate comparable to the treadmill? I know MFP and machines themselves often (always) over estimate so I'm not concerned about actually calories burned but rather relative benefits.

Fibre and weight gain
When it come to macros, I really struggle with fibre. So, ever few months I make an attempt to up my fibre. Inevitably I end up bloated and gaining weight (take today for example). Is that actually weight gain or is water retention? Do I really need so much fibre?

Hunger post-workout?
So, I've pretty much got the calorie counting down now and with few exceptions its pretty easy to stay within my goals. But now I'm increasing my gym time, and it is a serious struggle not to over-eat post work out (particularly since I am trying not to eat back all of my extra 'earned' calories). Any suggestions for post…

Hey walkers/runners, how many steps do you take in a day?
How many steps do you take in a day? I'm using a fitbit (which I love) and want some idea of how many steps other walkers are taking. Thanks!

Fitbit Accuracy
I have been wearing a smarthealth HR monitor (its a watch style one) for a couple of months now but it has recently stopped on me. Instead of buying a new one I went with the fitbit zip. I'm noticing that my FB zip is calculating a similar number of steps but a much larger number of calories burned. Is it accurate? I don't…

My goal: abs I can see
So I want to be healthy and I want to be strong. I quite frankly also want to see my abs. I know washboard abs are all about overall fat loss and I'm getting there (albeit slowly) by sticking to my daily calorie goal and increasing my exercise. But, as a goal oriented person it would be seriously motivating to know the…

Are you fit? How long and how often do you run (or walk)?
I'm a casual runner who has decided to up her game but I'm not really sure how long or how often fit people run. I go once or twice a week for an hour but sometimes I walk and sometimes I don't. Just wondering what people who are good at this do.

How far, how long, how often?
Good morning! My basic question is: how far / how long / how often should I be running, walking, jogging? I'm an active person (woman, 29) who runs occaisionally but mostly just stays active (softball, cycling to work, walking regularly, drop-in gym classes, etc.) and am now trying to set more goals and keep more of a…

Calculating Calories Burned
Quick question because I am not sure if I am doing this right: My MFP goal is 1200 calories per day. If I wear a heart rate monitor that tracks calories all day - can I calculate my "exercise" (in order to count my general calories burned) as the number of calories burned in a 24 hour period (on my HRM) and then subtract…

Breakfast
How many calories is a realistic breakfast goal? I have a tendency to cut back breakfast and often lunch calories (though I still eat them) in order to 'save up' my remaining calories for dinner (because even 600, or 700 calories is pretty easy to rack up). But how much should I be eating in the morning? Does it really…

Chinese Food
Tonight I am going out for Chinese food for the first time since starting MFP. What are the healthiest options? (side note: I've been avoiding it since starting MFP but tonight I am going to have to make the best of it and just make the best possible choices). Vegetarian options would be particularly helpful. Thanks!

Restaurant food
Hey there! How do you deal with eating out? In my experience, it is far easier to meet my calorie goals and lose weight when I eat at home and can cook strategically and measure what I'm making. As a result I eat at home most of the time but not all of the time... My friends and significant other like to eat out (A LOT)…
