Breakfast

How many calories is a realistic breakfast goal?

I have a tendency to cut back breakfast and often lunch calories (though I still eat them) in order to 'save up' my remaining calories for dinner (because even 600, or 700 calories is pretty easy to rack up). But how much should I be eating in the morning? Does it really matter if I'm not eating 3 equal(ish) meals during the day?

doesnt matter at all how you split up calories between meals

for example, i typically only have a banana for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch so i can leave the majority of my calories for a big last meal since my family tends to eat large dinners

In terms of weight loss it doesn't matter. I wasn't eating breakfasts (or lunches) at all until last few weeks. Now I just have a smoothie (500ml, fresh fruit/veg, anywhere from 200 to 300 cals) for breakfast. Well, considering I wake up pretty late, I guess that's lunch. Either way, eat whichever way is more comfortable for you. If you're in the deficit, you'll lose weight. Just eat enough protein and dont forget to check on your vitamins and fats (fats are good too!).

Nope, it doesn't matter. If eating more at dinner matters most to you then just eat a few hundred calories for breakfast and lunch. You could skip breakfast and lunch altogether and eat a big dinner and still lose weight provided you stay within your calories limit. The key is maintaining a calorie deficiency and hitting your macros. How you do it is entirely up to you.

I like to save a lot of my calories for dinner as well. I typically eat about 50-60% of my calories throughout the day (spread out over 2 meals and 2 snacks) and the rest @ dinner.
