HR Zone Training
I'm a keen cyclist and am trying (and failing) to make the most of HR Zone training. I've been riding for 10 months and have seen a 50 pound weight loss in that time. For all my efforts on my ride today (a comfortable 51km, 32 miles), I spent my time trying to keep to below zone 4, which for me is roughly 150bpm. No matter…

What makes you disproportionately angry?
You know, something happens and you get annoyed much more than you should. Here's mine. 1. When my stapler runs out of staples 2. When people read out mobile phone numbers in the wrong grouping: Its "07123 456789" not "071 234 567 89" 3, When I leave the butter in the microwave for 3 seconds too long

Any benefits in lifting heavy?
In case anyone was in any doubt whatsoever about the benefits of programmes like Stronglifts, here is my BF& tracked before and after I started lifting. Over the same period, my weight has gone from 204lb to 196lb.

How did you stop obsessing about your weight?
I started losing weight last June and have lost a total of 42 pounds pretty consistently since then. I'm really pleased with the way things have gone - achieved through obsessive calorie tracking, eating a deficit and exercise. Over the summer, my primary exercise has been my (new) bicycle and I've racked up a few hundred…

A couple of helpful tips
I use a couple of techniques when I feel like getting something to eat. It has helped me cut down on the snacks, helped reduce my daily calorie intake. 1. Well known, tried and tested. The signals that your body sends out when you are hungry are exactly the same as those when you are dehydrated. So before you eat, drink a…

Stronglifts 5x5
The very helpful adini749 has recommended Stronglifts 5x5 as a good introductory lifting plan for me, an absolute lifting noobie. I'd be interested to hear the board's thoughts about the plan, good or bad, and some experiences of using the system. I'm roughly halfway through a 68lb weight loss programme, and my primary aim…

Can't get the bike out - what next?
For the past couple of months, I've been cycling after work. The results of my weight loss have been pretty amazing and I've loved every second on the bike. Now the nights are closing in, I need to look for something else. The local gyms are rubbish so I'm left with setting up my own training programme in the garage. But…

Life just gets in the way
I've had a fantastic weekend with my friends who live in Scotland. We went to see the Highland Games (tossing the caber, highland fling, etc). In the greatest Scottish tradition, this is accompanied by eating, drinking, and then eating some more, the washing it all down with some more alcohol. So, on to the scales this…

MFP Daily Calorie Limit
Does any one know why the MFP calorie limit doesn't change with weight loss? Most other sites I've seen adjust the daily amount in line with a person's weight.

New member from Surrey, UK
Hi Everyone, I've been following a healthy eating plan from the last couple of months, having slowly gained all my losses from 2010. Not only that, but I've even bought my first bike since being a teenager! I'm looking for new friends to spice up my news feed and to give me motivation on the hard days. Feel free to add me.…
