Life just gets in the way

I've had a fantastic weekend with my friends who live in Scotland. We went to see the Highland Games (tossing the caber, highland fling, etc). In the greatest Scottish tradition, this is accompanied by eating, drinking, and then eating some more, the washing it all down with some more alcohol.
So, on to the scales this morning. Three pounds on! THREE! IN THREE DAYS!
Time to get the bike out, I think. See you in a few hours.
*Grumble, grumble, three pounds.....*

Unless you ate a surplus of 10,500 calories over your TDEE, it isn't fat you gained. I bet the majority of it is water retention which will easily be lost. There's no reason to punish yourself, just get back to doing what you were doing before to be successful.0

All the extra food and alcohol probably hasn't left your body yet. Give it a day or two and your weight will go down again, as long as you stick to your calories that is.0
