Working the same muscles 2 days in a row
So what if I don't work the heck out of my biceps (for example) today. Can I go back to the gym tomorrow and work them more? Any harm done there?

Leg press using 1 leg
I found a video of a woman doing 1 leg presses on the leg press machine. Claims it's good for the glutes. Looking for opinions if this is worthwhile doing? I tried it last night, I can do 280lbs with both legs and 1/2 that with just one. So many videos out there, just checking to see if this is harmful or helpful! Thanks :)

My first deadlift
Had the weight room all to myself last night so I took advantage of doing some things I wouldn't attempt with an audience because I don't want to look like an idiot trying! LOL First I had no clue how much weight to put on the bar for a deadlift. So i put 10pounders on each side. I wasn't sure how much I could lift and…

Haven't lost anything since 4/2!
So frustrating! I bounce up a few down a few but I can't get past my current weight. I am religiously counting calories and cannot understand why I don't lose on 800 calories a day, not counting exercise. Ughhhh.... All I seem to do is complain about how hard it is to lose weight. It never comes easy. Sorry to be such a…

Weight Lifting sets
I try to search the boards before I ask. Curious...does it matter if while lifting weights if you (as example) do biceps, 8 reps, rest and repeat until your sets are done. Or do you do a circuit? I do a circuit but last night saw someone doing shoulder presses, he'd sit for a minute or 2, then do another before moving on…

Julian Bakery protein bars
Anyone ever order these? I thought I'd try, had good reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't google further because people say they never get their orders, there is always an excuse of equipment failure etc. Guess what? I ordered mid March and I still don't have my order, but they got their money! Have emailed 3 times, called and…

Bench Press "station" question
Hi everyone. I'm back with a question for you. I lift weights alone so I don't have anyone to ask. In my gym there are 2 bench press stations I'll call them. The bench is actually attached to the racking system. You cannot move it anywhere. I was messing with using it the other night and found it to be awkward. I can't…

Weight lifting for balanced/toned arms
I'm curious. To get even tone in the biceps/triceps and shoulders should you do many exercises that work those muscles or pick a couple of each when you workout. So like 2 bicep moves / 2 tricep etc. Or could I do as many bicep/tricep exercises as I want? I've lost over 100lbs and I've lifted weights the entire time to…

Do any with VSG experience dumping?
I'm really having a hard time the past couple weeks. I discovered early on that I can't tolerate too much sugar at once. A small taste here or there is fine. The last 2 weeks I've been having a lot of cramping and diarrhea. I'm not taking in sugar and the only thing I can think of might be a protein shake I'm trying to…

Type of bar to use for deadlifts?
I've been watching a lot of videos on deadlifts. I would like to try doing them but the gym I go to doesn't have a long (I'm sure there is a name for it) barbell laying around on the floor. They have a bar in the squat rack and 2 stations where you can do bench presses and the bars are able to be removed. Then there is a…

TRX and heavy breathing - funny story
My husband installed the TRX in our living room. I was using it today after work while my teenage daughter was upstairs sleeping. After I was done she comes downstairs and tells me she woke to hear heavy breathing and wondered what the heck was going on down there! She actually thought "something" was going on and wouldn't…

How many calories are you eating during the losing phase?
I have the VSG and just curious what you take in? I am always under 1,000, between 700 and 900. I exercise every day and weight lift so I usually have calorie burn from that at about 300 cals or more. I suspect I'm not eating enough because my weight isn't coming off. I'm trying to increase calories to see if I see…

Gym - kind of frustrated
I go to a small gym close to my house early in the a.m. to do weights. I get up at 4am. Woman comes in a 5 usually..no big deal. Lately she has been coming at the same time as me and hogs the squat rack and smith machine plus all the heavy dumbbells. So, I said ok, if you're coming at 4, I'll get up at 3. Guess…

For those with the sleeve
Good morning. I'm thinking about revising band to sleeve (have been for a long time). Curious how well do you have to chew your food up before you swallow? Will small unchewed pieces get stuck? I know you have to and always should chew well, but how well? I have to do it with the band and sometimes even the smallest piece…

Stopped exercising = lost weight
I haven't worked out in about 10 days due to end of year activities and such for my kids. My weight loss has been stalled for 2 months. Today, I weighed and I've lost 2 lbs in a few days. I plan to get back to exercise today now that everything is done but is there some reason why a vacation from exercise would suddenly…

Do Band to Sleeve patients lose slower after revision?
Has anyone here heard this or can speak from experience? I can't understand the science behind it, if it's true. Thanks! Karen

Drastic times call for drastic measures
I have the band, into my 9th year. I lost well, had trouble swallowing, regained. I restarted a year ago and have lost just under 40lbs since. But I've been stuck at the same weight for 3 months despite exercise and eating right most of the time. My nutritionist suggested I do Optifast. I can't afford that so I'm drinking…

At the gym today....
On the elliptical, this girl doing her workout but she adds hand movements, arms flying around, sings outloud for everyone to hear and is just plain funny to watch. She is very expressive. The last time, I would have sworn she was using that elliptical for a substitute "pole", she was gyrating around on it like crazy.…

VSG - You can eat anything?
HI, I've been reading some posts. Question for the VSG folks. I currently have the band, am considering revision to VSG due to lack of weight lost and swallowing problems. So I read some say "I can eat anything I want". What does that incorporate? Can you eat lettuce? A full salad with tomatoes, cucumbers etc? Are you…

Getting discouraged
I recommitted to my band in November. I've lost 31 lbs since. I am now beginning to struggle and it's really getting me down. I am eating what I should, I log my food, I stay within calorie range and nothing is moving. I was doing so good with exercise but this week have totally slacked off. How do you keep yourself going…

Calories
I am sorry if this has been asked before. I have the lapband and I wondered if the preset calorie goals that MFP sets could be too high? I seem to be struggling to lose. I have lost 30lbs since November 1st, but it's slowwwww! For my current weight I really should lose faster, in my opinion. Just wondered if I should cut…

Healthy Cookies
I tried making this recipe tonight and they turned out pretty good. 2 ripe bananas - mashed well 1 cup quick cooking oats (dry) 1/2 cup chocolate chips 1 heaping tablespoon natural peanut butter Mix well, drop by spoon on parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 mins. I thought they would flatten out…

Saying Hi - new here
Hi! I have had my lap band since 4/18/06. I haven't done so well. At first I lost fast, 86lbs total. Started having trouble swallowing and kept telling myself that "it's just me not being compliant, it'll work itself out." It worked out to be a gain of every pound I had lost. Went back to my doc with the intent on revising…

Hot Dog!! Someone noticed
At work today, someone actually noticed that I'd lost weight! This makes the hard work exercising and diet all worth while to keep on going.

Can I get a "way to go!"?
I don't get any support from my husband and I don't flaunt my efforts to those who know me such as coworkers etc. But I went to my doc today and have lost 16 pounds since mid November! I'm proud of myself and determined that if I don't get any support at home, which is where I should be getting it...I'll continue on…

Spouses
Hi - just had to vent, if you will. Ever since meeting my husband 25 years ago I've been heavy. I've lost, I've gained, I've had 2 children and really gained. So I've been all over the board. When I was in a losing phase he's never been supportive in the way I think a spouse should be, or the way I hear other spouses…
