Any guys who use push ups as your only "lifting" exercises?
I was wondering if any of you strictly use push ups as your "lifting". I've tried lifting free weights but they are sooooooo heavy (ah thank you  ) and I don't like the machines at the gym very much. Was just wondering what kind of success you have had.

Do you ever do it in front of the mirror?
Come on, admit it. You just finished a hard workout and you go strolling through the bathroom. Your significant other is there and sees you all sweatty and the mood hits you. So you rip your top off and flex in front of the mirror. Or is it just me?

Any DMB fans?
I loves me some DMB and have said DMB & Foo Fighters are the only two bands I would ever pay again to see. I have never seen either and am thinking of going to see them this May but by now the only tix I can get are about $130 each. I know you hard core fans will say go, but to the average fan that has been to a show, is…

Since there has been so much talk going on between meat eaters and vegans I just wanted to let you all know that living has been shown to cause death. That is all. Thank you and drive through.

My first NSV
Well, my weight has stayed the same for a few weeks now, but I continue to see transformations in my body so I am not worried. I have shed my "fat" belt and gone to one I hadn't worn in a long time. Funny thing is I am already down to the last hole on it so I am about to have to go buy a new belt as I don't think I have…

Heart Rate Monitor vs Cardio machine
I bought a Polar FT4 this weekend and used it at lunch today. I was suprised that 1.) the cardio machine picked up my HRM without me doing anything and 2.) the machine had me at 400+ calories and the HRM had me at 305. This was for 30 minutes on the eliptical. I think I have seen comments on this before but couldn't find…

Weight loss is so easy, so why is it so hard?
When you really think about it, weight loss is easy. Count your calories (so that you keep yourself above starvation but at a deficit when you consider your BMR) and exercise. That is it. That is the magic bullet. So, why is it so hard to do for so many?

How do you calculate the calories when.......
You cook something in EVOO or you marinate meat in a sauce (since not all of the oil or sauce gets consumed with the meal)?

Desk exercises?
When I can remember, I like to do some exercises tightening my stomach muscles 10-15 times. I am often stretching my shoulders/neck/arms and my desk. What other desk exercises do you? Would like to get some to add. On occassions I shut my office door and drop and do 20 push ups, but I don't have a lot of room in my office…

Alternative to chips - World Table Rice Thins
I found these at Wal-Mart last night as an alternative to chips since I have to have something with a sandwich or soup. You can have 30 and they are only 140 calories. Of course, they have 26g of carbs, but if you want something crunchy they are great. I tried the Chili and they have a nice little spice to them. Just…

Anyone know of a website that illustrates exercises?
Does anyone know of a site that illustrates various exercises? I tend to pick things up better if I have a visual cue. I think some of the things I am doing I am doing wrong. I would prefer a site that has video so you can see the person perform the whole exercise move and not just a couple of pics.

Don't forget to exercise the most important muscle
I have been on here just over a month now and I love the site but I am seeing a lot of people ask for advice. I think it is good to throw ideas and experiences around but I am seeing something on here that troubles me. Many people are posting things that just aren't true. I have seen people tell people bananas slow down…

Suggestions for protein
Just looking for suggestions on meals high in protein and low in carbs that are easy to make. Eample: -steak and eggs -omeletts with ham, onions, cheese and roasted peppers -tuna fish with egg, relish, and mustard (yes it took time to get used to mustard in it but it really cuts out calories that tuna with mayo has) -lean…

Question for those who have lost a lot of weight on MFP
Each day when you submit your diary you get a projected weight in 5 weeks. For those of you who have been on here and stuck with your calories, have you found these projections to be accurate? I was just curious. I have been ahead of projections so far, but I know it is easier for me to lose more weight when I first start…

The difference between then and now
In the past if a vendor or one of our attorneys offered to take me to lunch I was there in a heart beat. Even when I was working out I would skip that day. Well, today I kind of pissed off one of our attorneys and we got into a "discussion" that we finally agreed to continue later. He asked if I wanted to go to lunch and I…

Enjoying working out again thanks to MFP!!!
I am enjoying working out now that I have joined MFP. I was getting so frustrated that I would exercise and not see any results. I was eating "healthy" and not seeing any kind of weight loss. Turns out I was eating things that were "good for me" but I was still eating too much of them. So, with the help of the calorie…

Chocolate milk
Was going to grab one on the way to work this morning as I had a BIG craving for it. Checked the label and for a pint it was going to be 440 calories. Anyone know of a way to get in a chocolate milk fix and stay reasonable on the calories?

Do you use a recovery day when exercising?
How many people give a day or two off each week to let the body recover? Just getting back into eliptical work my legs feel dead and I am thinking of taking a day off, but I hate to lose the momentum I have. I have been increasing my cardio each day and feel like if I just plow through this I will get my legs back under me…

Do you count this as exercise?
If you are outside just doing normal yard cleanup, straightening up and in the course of all this pushing kids on the swings or doing some general play with them, do you count that in your exercise log? I haven't really, but I will be on my feet walking around for an hour or so each time and maybe sit for a couple of…

Wow! This site/app is awesome!
I am new to the site and am amazed at how easy it is to navigate and how simple it is to log everything. I have already told two people about it and plan to tell more. I was a person who was always active but due to some serious injuries and not watching what I was eating I have gained about 50 pounds I need to lose to be…
