Stay the course, tweak plan, or bail??
Sob. I am now up NINE pounds since starting NROLFW. Strictly adhering to the diet and lifting plan, and maintaining my cardio that I had been doing. Realistically, some of it is water weight, I know. But I can't fit into my pants this morning!! I drastically upped my calorie intake. I had been sticking to a max of 1200,…

What do you do on off days?
I just started the program. Prior to starting, I had been running most days, as well as riding my horse 4-5 days a week. A few days a week I was also doing a crossfit class. I don't want to overtrain, but I had completely stopped losing weight (no drop since November). So trying to shake things up a little by going heavier…

Raw Vegan Cheddar Dip
I'm not vegan (though I'm trying to be, Monday - Friday). I made this today, and though it doesn't really taste like cheese to me, it is absolutely delicious! I'm munching through it with carrots right now. Rich Cheddar Dip/Sauce 1 red bell pepper ¼ cup water ¾ cup raw sunflower seeds 1 tbsp. tahini 3 tbsp. nutritional…

Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk
I'd really like to do this, and I'm not at all worried about the sixty miles of walking. I am worried about the minimum $2300 fundraising, and that I'm personally responsible to make up the difference if I can't raise the full amount. Has anyone ever done this walk, and how easy/hard was it to fundraise that amount? My…

FitBit (now that it's MFP integrated) v. BodyBugg
I have a BodyBugg, and it works great. It wasn't cheap though, and I do need to pay a monthly fee as well. And the interface is awful. But I think it's quite accurate. My subscription is almost up, and I'm thinking about a FitBit, as it's only $99, and I don't think there would be any subscription fee. Does anyone have (or…

Bruises from running?
Am I the only one? If I do a longish run (anything over 6 miles) I get huge bruises on my calves. It looks like I've been hit by a softball. They don't hurt, but they look very unsightly. And I can't figure out why I'd get them. I'm not hitting anything, I'm not putting that much stress on my legs. It's very odd.

Breaking a plateau
I have been gaining and losing the same couple pounds for several months now, after an initial steady weight loss of nearly 50 pounds. But I'm stuck now. Really stuck. I need to get out of this plateau. I gave myself last week off from exercise and diet. Partly because I wasn't feeling great, but also because I figured I'd…

Half Marathon training support group?
I've seen a ton of the Couch to 5k groups on here, but nothing for those training for a half marathon. I decided to give it a try. I just downloaded a training app for a 12 week program. I know it might take me a little longer than 12 weeks, but I'm aiming for a half in the spring. Anyone interested in a group?

Vanity Sizing: Love it or hate it?
I've lost nearly 50 pounds, and while I'm definitely in a smaller size than previously, it's not really smaller traditionally. I can fit into size 8 jeans now, but if they were size 8 jeans from 10 years ago, there's not a chance I could fit into them. Probably closer to a 12 10 years ago. I love that I can say I fit into…

The Paleo-Diet: Not The Way To A Healthy Future
by BARBARA J KING In a few days, the world's population will reach 7 billion. Only a tiny fraction of this number still makes a living by hunting and gathering, the way all our ancestors did before about 12,000 years ago. According to a set of claims relentlessly pushed in some books and blogs, as many modern humans as…

So the BodyBugg definitely works
I had my Basal Metabolic Rate tested a few years ago. It's appallingly low. I do wear a BodyBugg every day to help track my exercise level, intensity, length, steps, etc. Even working out in excess of 2 hours per day, I rarely burn over 2000 in a day. That hour usually includes running, high-intensity aerobics, elliptical,…

Summer Progress

Break up exercise throughout the day
I run every day, for at least an hour. That I don't plan to change. I usually go first thing in the morning, or at the very end of the day, and I want to do it all at once. But I work from home, and it's a very sedentary job. I don't have an hour solid to do anything else, but I have bits of time here and there, where I'm…

What supplements do you take?
Do you take anything to help with general health or aid in weight loss? I feel like I'm taking a handful of things, but I do feel better when I take them. But I'm always looking for better options. • Complete multi-vitamin • Spirulina tablets • Apple cider vinegar tablets • Amazing Grass powder • Hemp protein powder
