I Just Hit My First Weight Loss Goal π
Alright, so weight loss can be challenging for many. I know that when I first started I viewed my goal weight as not knowing where to start climbing a mountain. It was such a huge number in my eyes that in the back of my mind I doubted if I could really do it, it just seemed like this immense task that was impossible at times, so why even try it?
Well, boy how important it was for my mindset to change. I decided this time to focus on small little attainable goals, over the big number that I was trying to lose. I set 4 Different weight Goals in my mind, by doing this, it made attaining my desired weight more attainable and it kept me enjoying meeting the target. So, today, I weighed myself and I officially hit my first goal. It wasnt a whole lot of weight, but it represented a major milestone for me, in my eyes it was a paradigm to myself that I CAN do it, that I can achieve what Iβm after. I donβt want to JUST lose weight quickly and look and feel good, I want to have a great lifestyle that I can have till my old age and I want to do things that Iβve always wanted to do for myself without my weight holding me back. Iβve lost weight before and I was pretty successful at maintaining, although I did gain only a small fraction of it back.
I think, the trick here for me, is that I needed to focus on the smaller things rather than the overall big goal, as it seemed too daunting for me and itβs been working. My next milestone is only 15lbs away and it represents me being at my lowest weight in over a decade, itβs not the number ITSELF that means anything to me, however itβs the meaning behind the number on the scale and itβs the push the gets me motivated to get ready for the gym in a few mins to get a great workout in.
So in conclusion, itβs great to have an overall goal, but I donβt fixate too much on it rather than what is my next realistic goal to hit AND I celebrate each small victory. This really got me pumped and Iβm truly happy to see my progress.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But itβs proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I donβt think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

Re: WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR JUNE 2025
@sh0tzz99 β¦ sorry about your husband's situation. But glad to hear you've lost some weight!
@Snowflake1968 β¦ sorry about your kids and your daughter's friend. A lot going on.
@1948CWB β¦ I wouldn't be able to handle my life without my anti-depressants. I'd be having a complete meltdown at least once a week.
Are you able to do something about the cause of crying?
With stress, I have learned that there are heaps of ways to cope with stress, but the only thing that seems to work for me is doing something about the cause of the stress.
@bwcetc β¦ are you sure you had to keep the mattress for 30 days β¦ or did you have to return it within 30 days? Although that said, I did come across one place that offers a Comfort Guarantee, "Under the Comfort Guarantee,Β mattresses are only able to be exchanged after they have been slept on (with an approved mattress protector) for 30 nights and before 60 nights (inclusive) from the date of purchase".
I'd probably prop it up in the garage and go purchase something else.
I know the two twin bed thing may sound a bit odd, but the bed looks like a king-sized bed and acts like a king-sized bed. The only way you'd know it was two twin beds if is you slept right in the middle of the bed. You might feel a bit of an edge.

My calories were good yesterday but I was a bit of a bum for most of the day. You would think I would have decided to accomplish something with a bonus afternoon off but instead I did a lot of napping.
I just had to accept that I needed to rest and reset. I canβt always just power through.
I did enjoy belly dancing class last night. Iβm still terrible dancer but Iβm trying!

Oh I am so glad your grand nephew got that opportunity!
I think it was a one shot visit for the sailors in medical hold status. Many are there for mental health issues then there's a guy with a heel problem, and my son with Crohn's. So it was a way out of cleaning which is what the Navy has them doing to keep them busy.

Re: Nutritional information provided by MFP reliable?
Did you check how many servings the recipe you created is for? I believe it defaults to 1, so if you didn't change it, it's including all the calories in the entire recipe in one serving.
Re: Maintainers' Weekly Check-in
I skipped my weekend 36hr fast again this weekend as I am still having challenges maintaining my weight. I was able to maintained a balanced diet, and kept somewhat active with the limitations of my shoulder. I am starting back on the bike this week and I am going to start swimming twice a week as part of my rehab. I am still running a little under my goal weight, and lost another pound over the past week, however, I am still within a healthy range. Have a great week everyone!

Re: One Pot, several days
If you're using the app, you can search your recipes by clicking on "add food" under a meal in your diary and then under the "recipe" tab, just start typing the name of the recipe. It doesn't have to be the beginning of the name. If you know it was a stew but you're not certain whether you called it beef stew or meat and vegetable stew, just type stew, and it will bring up all of your recipes that include stew in the name.
If you don't want to log it right now (say, you want to tweak a prior recipe by changing the protein or the veg), you can search from the foods, meals, and recipes links in the "more" menu from the app home page.
I use "recipes" when I'm making a batch of something I'm going to eat over multiple meals and "meals" mostly when I'm going to eat it all in one meal and want to choose from a saved list of potential ingredients for something like a smoothie, oatmeal and mix-ins, salad, or customizable foods from places like Chipotle, Cafe Rio, etc.
