Re: Just Give Me 10 Days - Round 294
I always cook a big sunday dinner, so I felt I had to warn them. I have a blood test tuesday and I want to give myself a chance to go very low carb. I am testing with a normal blood sugar a few days a week, but not every day. Even a few extra carbs (I'm normally 20 grams, so extra can be up to 50) or eating too late can ruin the next day's test, so I cooked Friday and Sat and told them they are on their own today and Monday. I have that "Dawn syndrome" where your blood sugar goes up in the morning before eating anyway, and it goes up with exercise too, so it's not likely I'll get lucky and have a normal blood sugar when they test me as the test is mid morning. And I expect I'll need a few more months to get a normal A1C. But I want to try and do everything I can to better the odds. As to the family, I suspect they are just as happy eating hamburgers and pizzas for two days. I wish I could too!!!

4/21 132.5 A good day with granddaughter #2 yesterday. We went over to the pool. I have the beginning of a tan. Steak and broccoli for non-traditional Easter meal.
4/22 133.0 Dinner with fam last night at In-n-Out. We wanted Yonutz for dessert but the area location is permanently closed. Went to see the Conservatory and fountains at Bellagio. Taking granddaughter to Juan’s Flaming Fajitas for lunch today
4/23 132.5 DGD#2 flies home to KC at noon. It’s been a good visit. No extreme activities. I behaved myself food wise except for chips at Mexican restaurant yesterday but even then, I didn’t go crazy.
4/24 133.0 I ate one meal yesterday which included some of my sourdough bread. Considering all of the eating out (and no TMI) since Saturday, I’m okay with this.
4/25 133.5 Had 1/2# Jesse Rae’s BBQ burnt ends, 3 waffle fries, 2T house made sauce (HOT - YUM!) That is everything I ate yesterday!
4/26 133.5 Community French toast breakfast this morning. DH says he’s tired of everyone and he’s not going. Still waiting for TMI
4/27 134.0 We both went to the breakfast yesterday and we probably BOTH should have skipped!
Re: WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR APRIL 2025
Well thank you Barbara! For heaven's sake… send me your address so you can get one yourself! ❤️
It's WHAT I do. I absolutely LOVE making and sending cards. Who wants this one? I made three yesterday. This was one that I did while watching a technique class called Creativate, put on by four amazing women! So simple, huh?
While she was making hers, she someone said wouldn't this be fun in RWB? So then I made a second one.
My upline has an online "party" every Saturday morning called Stamp Together Saturday TRACEY!!! (go find Amy Rick, Independent Stampin' Up Demonstrator) She provides an instruction card sometime during the week (usually Thu or Fri) with measurements and cutting details and the we all meet at 930am Central time to make a card. Some are very easy; others are a little more difficult. Then some of us share our cards on her thread. This was mine yesterday.
WHO WANTS THESE??? ❤️❤️❤️
Love and Blessings

Re: How long did it take you to start losing again after giving birth?
Totally understand. Not everyone can or wants to, and that's ok! Either way, I maintain eat at or maybe slightly below your maintenence calories. Let your body take its time. Excess weight should come off slowly. Don't rush it, especially when your body and your brain are still recovering. Don't buy into all the instagram, "look how I bounced right back after having my baby with these three tricks!!!!" BS. Cause that's all it is. BS.
Re: Crazy Marketing Claims in Ads
They left out, "In a day, you'll be bruised and sore from the surgery….."
Re: "TLFC" exercise and accountability support!
@DiscusTank5 congrats on the 5k PR! I used to run the 5k back in school, and my personal PR came on a race day where it was snowing! lol Temps were right at freezing, zero wind, big fat flakes, very peaceful and the temperature seemed perfect to cool me down at the same rate as my exertion was heating me up, so I didn't start to feel fatigued until very late in the run.

Re: Just for Today.... ONE DAY AT A TIME... Daily commitment for 2025
Bex953172- I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Give yourself some grace during this difficult time. Grief is a complex thing.
Getting healthy and feeling better is hard work. It takes discipline more than motivation in my opinion. I can only speak for myself but maybe it will help you.
My mental switch was realizing ( I am much older than you) that I didn't want to end up in a constant state of dealing with physical issues. (like my mom) I want to enter the second half of my life feeling strong and capable ,like I was the first 35 years . I had about a 10 year period where I stayed active but didn't really committ to a consistent routine and as such that is when I started seeing physical changes I didn't like.
Focusing on longevity and not wanting to be limited by my physical state is what keeps me going .
You have to find meaning and purpose for you. If you feel like crap, and don't want to stay in that state, then you have to change something . Whatever that might be. I also had to start thinking about putting my health as a priority. I often choose not to join certain friend and family get togethers because the pressure to eat things I shouldn't is far too much. I know I don't have the will power so I make different choices and choose to avoid the temptation . Its just easier. I also gave up alchohol. I will allow myself one drink on a weekend night but honestly I don't miss it. Those are just some examples.
I don't know if any of that helps but I hope you can find a way through to your best self. Its a journey!
Re: For those that lost a lot of weight, have you noticed any changes medically/ health wise since losin
everything is better when you're lighter
Re: For those that lost a lot of weight, have you noticed any changes medically/ health wise since losin
My blood pressure has gone down. Shoes fit and feel better. I can walk more than twice as far. I can do things I couldn't do before. I don't think 🤔 about feeling better or hurting less. I just keep going instead of stopping to rest.
I locked myself out of the house the other day. I climbed in through the window over the kitchen sink. Something I never would have tried 50 pounds ago.
Re: It’s the devil!
I don’t know if this helps, but we used to make a simple homemade vanilla ice cream with yogurt, vanilla extract, sugar free pudding mix, some sugar free syrup and maybe some vanilla bean scrapings.
We scooped it into a cup with some diet Barq’s or a sugar free ginger beer
The Barq’s version was only about 70 calories for a huge glass.
It’s not the same, but it was a tasty and satisfying substitute.
I’ve since gone off sugar-free products and sugar substitutes, but I bet my current version of ice cream would work equally well with some sparkling water. I’ll have to give that a shot. Tonight’s ice cream is fried plantain ice cream (highly successful on the first go around, so this is the improved version.). Somehow, a fried plantain float isn’t doing it for me, lol.
Anyway if you’re here, presumably it’s to lose weight. You can piss and moan about what you can no longer have (and I’ve def been there/done that), or you can get creative and find enjoyable substitutes.
Depends on how determined you are.
