I don’t know if this helps, but we used to make a simple homemade vanilla ice cream with yogurt, vanilla extract, sugar free pudding mix, some sugar free syrup and maybe some vanilla bean scrapings.

We scooped it into a cup with some diet Barq’s or a sugar free ginger beer

The Barq’s version was only about 70 calories for a huge glass.

It’s not the same, but it was a tasty and satisfying substitute.

I’ve since gone off sugar-free products and sugar substitutes, but I bet my current version of ice cream would work equally well with some sparkling water. I’ll have to give that a shot. Tonight’s ice cream is fried plantain ice cream (highly successful on the first go around, so this is the improved version.). Somehow, a fried plantain float isn’t doing it for me, lol.

Anyway if you’re here, presumably it’s to lose weight. You can piss and moan about what you can no longer have (and I’ve def been there/done that), or you can get creative and find enjoyable substitutes.

Depends on how determined you are.

and btw, nice dog. I’m going to assume he’s a rescue like mine. * sigh *

They and their teeth, they can be a trial. Mine is the most hated dog in town, I think, but, he’s mine and I love him, even if everyone else thinks he’s psycho.

if it’s something that’s not good for me or my goals.. I ask myself if this comfort or taste is worth ditching my goals for.

Ps I didn’t know they still made Dr. Pepper!

Remember Laverne and Shirley. Remember Laverne's scooter pies and milk & Pepsi. I still enjoy a milk and diet Pepsi occasionally. I don't worry about the calories in the milk. It's healthy. I just slurp up the foam. LOL!

wait. What? Milk and soda drunk together?

I mean it’s no different than a float, I suppose, but I’ve never heard of this in my life, and I live in the heartbeat of Coca-Cola country.

Well, Laverne and Shirley were from Milwaukee, I believe, which is not the heart of Coca-Cola country. I'm from the Mid-Atlantic and never heard of it before the televisionHouse.

I think it was more intended to be an idiosyncracy of Laverne's than a regional thing. It's essentially a cola-flavored egg cream, instead of a vanilla or chocolate one.

I occasionally have one when I get a craving for a float or a milkshake and don't have any ice cream in the house.
