I've found a lot of info on the web, here and elsewhere, but do any of you have a favorite book that covers the essentials of the Keto diet and recipes?

I think Jimmy Moore's book "Keto Clarity" is a good place to start.

Is it just a basics/how to book or does it have good recipes?

    Keto Clarity is great.
I know its not a book, but if you can access the net then go to the Diet Doctor website. All the concepts are put out there in plain and direct language, and it is a great resource for beginners and old hands alike!

More of a keto basics book. For recipes, go to Amazon and search on "Dana Carpender." She's written several cookbooks of keto recipes.

Another great source is the ruled.me blog and forum.

Bought Keto Clarity, read a little yesterday. Seems pretty well written and backs up principles with science and real life experience.

I don't own any but Maria Emmerich writes keto cookbooks too. She also has a blog with recipes on it as well.
