I don't know what's cuter her (Susan's) words or her emoticons.. seems the emoticons take center stage... I don't even have a dog and I want to use that one....teehehhehe.
You girls are rocking the goals..

I love having daily goals to be accountable for , I may actually see some loss this year.
I'll have to go back and read all later, like Snoozie, I was just popping on during break..

Be good, if not be careful!!

Snooozie, another GREAT day-yay you!!! t2014.gif

Carol and any others in the path of the storm- please bundle up and stay safe!t118052.gif

Patrice, Milove, Straw, Charip, Chatogal and Vail- How's it going?

I ended up having to just take a "rest" day today as I felt really crummy. It's amazing how now whenever I don't make a healthy choice I really pay for it. It has really opened my eyes to just what I had been doing to my body every day before my lifestyle change two years ago. So here is to healthy living, and taking care of ourselves, because we deserve it.

Thank you Seehe!! I love it!! and it's PINK!!!
I have been cheating and stepping on the scale occasionally....not every day, like usual...and I am seeing some diffferent numbers!!1 I am excited...not much but I believe I will show a loss on Feb 1st. I have already updated my weight back to where I was before I brought it back down...so I have lost, but I didn't want to keep getting congratualed on the same 5 lbs I always lose and gain back...So come Feb. I will be losing in new territory.... I claim it!!

Seehe, I hope you are feeling better..
Snoozie, I would count the tea...You made it!! Excellent on your daily goals!!

Gail - I can totally relate to your updated weight/not wanting to post same re loss etc... I updated mine as well and haven't logged any loss yet in the three weeks I've been back to basics.. am hoping my tomorrow once a week weigh in will show the first wee bit of "actual" loss but i know well enough weight loss isn't linear so if it doesn't so be it.. i know as long as i keep working away at it, it WILL happen! it's a bit of a waiting game for sure, but love your attitude and absolutely know you are going to be shouting from the rooftops with new loss in Feb! and we'll be right here cheering and jumping for joy for ya!
    -
Susan - blech on the ick ... also hope you've recovered a bit by now and couldn't have said it better; you're absolutely right about how we THINK something is gonna be a treat but turns around to bite us in the backside to remind us our bodies aren't pleased with our choice lol..

very glad to hear on the news this morning that NY skipped the massive storm, but hear that Boston and my family in the maritimes here are getting hit with it now... can't remember thanks to menopause if any of our peeps are in the area of the U.S. getting it but stay safe if you are!

Off to work early cause I need to hit the grocery store first... i keep forgetting we have a really decent fully equipped kitchen at work; can't usually get up there for long enough to cook an actual meal of course LOL.. but im thinking i could bring in a baby fry pan i have kicking around an 8" one and chop some peppers and onions in for a few minutes aong with a store bought chicken breast already cooked... it doesn't take a whole lot longer than 30 seconds to scramble an egg either - but i had that for breakfast sooo back to the peppers.. yep i'm thinking out loud as i type.... have a great day Hattes!!

    Hi ladies. ..

Juno didn't hit my area too hard. Work closed early Monday and they decided not to open Tuesday.
My husband works closer to the shore, they got hit a little harder.

    NYC. got about 8-12 inches
I live closer to Philadelphia and got about 2 inches

For those still in the wake of the storm stay safe

Great job ladies on making smart choices

I'm having surgery on my right hand Friday to remove a cyst from arthritis
Hopefully I will have a quick recovery and back to work in about a month
My main worry is driving. ...I don't think that I'll be able to shift because I don't think I'll be able to grip the shift

I will do my best on the diet portion of the plan

Hello ladies, I came home early from work still not feeling my best. Carol glad you guys did not get hit hard. My son lives up in Kearney and he said it wasn't that bad, he drove into Jersey City for work without a problem. God's blessings for your surgery Friday Carol. Take one day at a time.

    Tuesday's challenges:

    - YES - to paying attention to portion control
    - YES - to consciously focus on healthier choices thru the day
    - YES - to staying within calorie goal
    - NO - to 7 glasses of water (6)
    - YES - to logging today
    - N/A 30 min of actual exercise (specifying actual dedicated exercise) 4x a week

Had a lot of running around to do before work yesterday and didn't get to any groceries before heading in - had to order dinner in with the others who chose Portuguese Piri chicken - usually comes with rice AND potatoes as two sides.. and quite frankly there's enough in the dish to feed a small country... and I know me. if it came with that i'd eat it! I decided to switch mine to asking for greek salad and any veg on the side just in case there was a chance lol.. and lo and behold - got a lovely greek salad AND I swear an entire head of broccoli - the stalks were like freaken trees mind you hahaha... the stalks were thicker than my wrist on some of them ha!! BUT despite some raised eyebrows from my co workers (who are all 6'2 men) I was a very happy camper!! AND I learned it never hurts to ask!! I had to do a drive thru on the way in to make it on time and chose a kids plain burger - enough to keep me from starving but not a loaded grown up one LOL.. so I can happily say YES to consciously focusing on better choices!

I showed a loss on the scale this morning after almost 3 weeks of being back on track and consistently aiming for my daily goals - happy to see the scale moving of course!! But more so, was a positive reminder for me that consistently working towards those small daily goals WILL get me the results I want....

One thing I have noticed is that I have to start drinking my water earlier in the day... on this shift I tend to wait til noonish and i'm going to try to start earlier in the day - I think that's why I've been a cup short lately every day!

How's everyone doing now that we're at mid week?

Carol - yikes on the surgery - must be pretty major stuff if you're going to be off work for a month! i'm guessing you're right; you won't be able to use the shift (and probably shouldn't move the hand around that much til you're fully recovered?) just think of it as having your own personal chauffeur for a month; draft hubby and son into being your taxi driver! I remember breaking a few fingers years ago and the smallest things were the most frustrating with only one hand - couldn't open any jars or bottles, and trying to dry my hair had me looking like medusa a few times lol! Are you going to be in hosp for a while or is it day sugery? Will keep paws crossed you get some relief from the arthritis once the cyst is gone!
    -
Milove - the flu can REALLY knock you out for a couple of weeks; even after the symptoms themselves are gone its gonna take your immune system a while to recover; take care of yourself for a few days more k??

    Hey snooze..

It's a one day out patient in the same office. ...just in the surgical suite down the hall

And yes on everything you said. ...the surgery will be on my right hand and I'm a righty... and don't even want to think about the bathroom aspect. ...minor surgery with big impact on my lifestyle for the month or so. .

The doggone boss doesn't realize what I've tried to tell him. ...he thinks just because it's only one finger I should be ok to come back to work in a week or so. ....ugh...and that everything will be ok.....

Luckily not painful just that the cyst is next to the nail on my hand and is making a dent

And he doesn't realize that my other surgery was on the left side of my brain which controls the right side of your body. ...

Thank goodness I have a hand doctor that should write a good note

    Carol:)

It's great to see our little group is so active again! Seehe, I especially like the penquins doing a happy dance- so fitting, and congrats on getting back on track. Yay on the weight loss finally showing up on the scale Snoozie, persistence really does pay off. Only a few days till Feb. Gail, I know you'll be happy with what the scale says Feb 1st. Good luck on the surgery Thursday Carol, I'm sure you don't even realize how much you use that hand without even thinking, wishing you a quick recovery.
Blizzard wasn't too bad here yesterday, but everything was closed, and lots of things are still closed today for cleanup- at least the power didn't go off, so since I was stuck inside and couldn't get out for a walk- I cranked up the music and danced ( like no one was watching, haha), burnt lots of calories. Only time I ventured out was to go with my boxer, little bugger won't go out in bad weather unless I go with him. Thought I'd be smart and put his coat on him and send him out to play, but he just planted his feet inside in front of the door and wouldn't budge till I got dressed and went too. Funny how fast he can high tail it back for the door while I fight my way across the yard in a blizzard!

Snoozie, well done for staying on track and seeing results! That's great you can actually cook at work. I'm envious! It really broadens your options - as long as you can think of quick things to cook apart from omelettes and scrambled eggs! I suppose you could do things like a minute steak to have with a salad or put in a sandwich.

I'm keeping on track surprisingly well at the moment. I think it really suits me to be in a strict routine for eating. I don't have an actual written list of rules, but I am sticking to the ones in my head (3 meals a day, no eating outside of meals, no sweet stuff - mostly!, no calorific drinks, portion control all the time). And there's a few more now since I started the weight loss class at my gym - no caffeine, no alcohol, no processed food, no wheat, no gluten, no cheese, no butter, etc. That's just for the first week, I think, then we can eat a bit more.

Good luck to everybody getting caught in the awful weather. It hasn't been too bad in my part of the world - just windy and wet, but supposedly blizzards on the way.
