Greetings to the month of June!
Gotta love technology Here I sit in our travel trailer on the North shore of Lake Superior in the UP of Michigan creating a chat page on my iPad. As a former user of a manual Ditto machine, I must say...This is so cool

Welcome to June indeed....... a new month and a new start...... I have put on 2 pounds on holiday which amazed me...I ate just what I wanted ... delicious food including, fries, chocolate, desserts, ice creams. crisps, wine.....and only added 2 pounds ... had sensible breakfast each day...hardly any lunch as we were out and about and then a delicious dinner each evening....kept up the walking most days and even used some hotel treadmills...... looking forward now to losing these last few pounds.......
Happy June to all...:flowerforyou:

Tech is wonderful isn't it. I recently saw a short film made by the army on manners and protocol. It was made in the early 70's. I could not believe that they were worried about who should open the door (man vs woman) and the slang usage was funny. I had forgotten how much things have changed.0 -
Wooken3--I agree, technology is wonderful and I, too, remember those ditto machines and right. Ow using an IPAD. Don't you just love it! I know you are in a beautiful part of the country because we were there many years ago during a tour around Lake Michigan from Our home just outside Chicago. would love to visit that as again.
Jeanrob--glad you made it home safely and that you enjoyed your visit. Since you had already started cultivating good habits, I'm not surprised that you didn't gain a lot of weight. Congratulations!
Happy June, everyone!0 -
Ditto that. LOL0
-
Wooken - the suits were all political wonks from Detroit and Lansing. I envy you on Lake Superior!! I do remember ditto machines and blue ink all over my hands and clothes. :grumble:0
-
Jean, that sure looks good. Can't believe you did not share, shame on you. LOL And I might add, nice to see a close up of you, you are beautiful! And isn't it cool when you eat goodies and not gain a lot? That happened on our 9 day cruise. I was shocked I only gained a couple of pounds, but we were taking the stairs a lot and walking, so it does help.
Hope you are over jet lag by now and getting settled in back home.
Yes, technology is awesome. Just think, we all never would have "met" and to think we are communicating with pals all over the world. To me that is the best part of it all.
Happy June everyone. Here's to keeping on track and doing great!0 -
Ditto that. LOL
Good one  and that reply did make me LOL!! :bigsmile:0 -
I never stopped to think so glad that I can call so many people friends and that they're from all over the world. Awesome!0

Welcome to June everyone. The birds are chirping and my dog Dudley is happy because we now go for walks several times a day. I'm feeling so much more positive since I found this site and that I have friends who understand weight struggles. Life is good.:flowerforyou:0

A positive attitude always helps, and beautiful weather always helps the attitude. Walking is a great way to burn calories, so good for you!
It's raining here today but it seems to rain a little every day down here. Hopefully, it will clear up later and turn into a beautiful day down south. If not, we'll just hang out with the kids and grandkids doing whatever they do on a rainy weekend day. Have a wonderful day everyone.0 -
@ Ann, don't you love when the birds are chirping and the weather is nice? Really seems like Spring. Yesterday we had 95degrees. Today cooler and hopefully we will hang around the high 70's this week. I love for the weather to be right around 80 or 82. Those days we get up to 90 or 100 YUCK. LOL
Wishing you and Dudley a wonderful, productive June!0 -
Spring?? Not in the Michigan UP...last night was 36F and we once again had the furnace & electric blanket going in the trailer. But I'm not complaining, nope not one bit
Phx is to have 100+ everyday this week and I'm not there!!
Also, this will be out last night in the trailer for 10-weeks as we will be moving into the dorm tomorrow.
I retirement!!
Now to get busy and lose those last 8 pounds :ohwell:0 -
Wooken3--I think I like the Midwest because the temps don't usually get to 100+, but we're down south for awhile and it's bee in the upper 80s and lower 90s most of the time; the humidity is awful, too. The kids have a pool and I'm making good use of it. Glad you'll be arriving at your destination. Soon and will be able to settle for awhile. Enjoy your stay.0

Unusually nice weather here in the North of England since I got home...really lovely - sun shining and birds twittering........ that said due to circumstances regarding sharing a car at the moment - I ended up at the cinema this afternoon...... one of my retirement delights is going to the cinema by myself to see films which I know my husband would not like.....today was The Great Gatsby - one of my favourite books - and I just loved Baz Lurhman's latest film....the ladies looked amazing ... really enjoyed it.......
Had a single scoop of Baked Alaska Ben and Jerry's ... enjoyed that too!

Hi everyone. I am not enjoying June since winter is closing in on us in New Zealand. It has been wet and cold here today so I have been working on the family tree.
Wooken you will just love your iPad. I don't go far without my iToys in my bag.
I hope you are enjoying your vacation. Only about 6 weeks now until my daughter and I go to Australia for a couple of weeks of sunshine and seashore.0 -
@ _Liz_M. so sorry you are heading into Winter, but so glad we are out. lol Hope you and your daughter have a fun time in Australia and soak up that sunshine and just enjoy yourselves!
@ Jean. so glad you are having good weather and isn't it awesome to go to a movie by yourself? I know so many people still who will not do anything on their own. Oh I see, you did not go by yourself, you took Ben and Jerry with you. LOL Sounds good to me.0 -
Californiagirl...I do lots of things on my own....... I do stuff with my husband too....but he has his interests and I have mine....... it works well for us0
-
Like jeanmrob, Hubby and I have different interests too. I love to bike and be outside as much as possible while he enjoys being indoor with all his electronic toys. I'm very social (big surprise) well he isn't as much. It's a very good thing that we learned to accept the other's ways early in our retirement or things could have gotten ugly...fast. :frown:
We are almost settled into the dorm and now heading out to the market. Well, there goes my excuse for eating all those starches that I so love like cinnamon rolls & pancakes. It gonna be back to Hello vegetables and fruit and Goodbye carbs.
Haven't make it over to the Fitness Center on campus but that's on my list for today as there is a Welcome Back Ice Cream Social tonight. Gotta get some calories in the bank for later. :laugh:0 -
Happy June and the start of hurricane season. First tropical storm already on the books just in time for our beach trip this weekend. Hopefully it will make its way up to New England before Saturday. Please pray for my daughter and her family as they drive in it all day Friday to join us. We are expecting anywhere from 1 to 4 inches over the next couple days. We have already received 6 inches over the last 6 days. Enough is enough I say. But then, I am not in control of the weather. At least I should not have to worry about the veggie garden drying out while we are gone. Happy and Safe trip to all my MFP friends that are traveling this summer.
Pam0 -
Pam, will keep good thoughts for your daughter and her family. Hope they make it safely there. I hope that tropical storm bypasses you and goes elsewhere so you can enjoy your beach trip!0

June 1st I committed myself to doing 30 mins of walking for 30 days. I am happy to say that today is my 6th straight day with out a miss :blushing:
My cardiologist wants me walking more. My goal is to get up to 1 hour per day by the end of August.0 -
Wow, look at the size of that sundae....yummy:happy:0

A very realistic goal Please post your success so we can all cheer you on!! :drinker:0 -
Well, I pulled up my Big Girl Panties and weighed myself at the Fitness center today and much to my delight...my weight was the same as when we left ~6 weeks ago. While the weight did stay the same, my stamina is down as riding the stationary bike clearly showed. And now I'll be working to get that stamina back as soon as possible.
And as a reward, as if I needed one, I've booked a Spa Day tomorrow for the works. After living out of the trailer for all this time, I'm ready to a little pampering...not to mentation some serious maintenance. :laugh:0 -
Walking is a great way to keep the pounds off...even when I am not losing - it helps keep me steady.....off to London today to spend the weekend with my son....... might struggle with the tracking but hey ho......life is to enjoy!

Thanks I will!!0

Being away from home, I've really fell away from my daily exercise and, yes, I really feel it. I should bring my laptop and workout DVDs with me to use when hubby is working on the kids' old house getting it ready to sell, but I don't. I don't think I've put on any weight; calories show up ok on MFP; and my clothes still fit so hopefully no weight gain. Fitness and stamina are a whole different story.
I CAN and WIlL do this and so will all do this!0 -
gramanana - we can indeed do this. It seems some of us got the non-exercise gene. They say you can overcome it, but you need to be persistent in your exercise regimen. Keep up the activity!0
