Congrats on beating me in the fitbit challenge Sara!! I will need to try harder next week0
-
TJ, I was just looking back at one of my post on FB regarding last years WD challenge and we were competing for 500 mins of cardio. I think one week I turned in 900 mins. Should we try for gradual 100s? I'm not as fit as I was last year and about 20 lbs heavier to boot. I would love to get back to it though.0
-
Absolutely!! We can see how many teammates want to play too!0
-
I love cardio. And also am not in as good of shape as I was last time. 10 extra pounds also. Next Friday I will be doing a Jackalope Jump for Special Olympics here in WY. You jump in an outside pool, run to the other end and climb out. There is only one ladder, so I hope the people I am going to jump with are all slow or fast climbers! I know after that I can get through any challenge. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That sounds like a bad dream Shelly. Yikes! Ok, let's try for 300 mins of cardio this week.0

Got in 45 minutes of outdoor cardio today. Walking my dogs in the snow. Had to carry Joey the last 15-20 minutes. His feet were packed with snow. Good thing he only weighs around 18 pounds! Will start on the rest of our challenge and punishments tomorrow. Rather busy today. Laundry, maintenance on my salt water aquariums also. Moving living room furniture to paint living room. Almost done with that. Hubby did the painting, I did the moving and dinner. Must be ready for my new aquarium.
Cardio: 45/300

I am Team Rick. What motivates me is my husband - I wouldn't be able to do this without him by my side. He makes most of my meals. Without him, I struggled with depression and being extremely unmotivated to just even get up. Because of him, I want to get up every morning and try to achieve my dreams and goals. Also, he comforts me when I'm in my lowest moments.
A high protein meal . . . hmm not too sure, but tuna fish sandwiches are pretty high with the tuna.
Recipe for a tuna fish sandwich:
1 tbsp. of miracle whip (or your choice of mayo)
Can of tuna
2 slices of bread
1. Mix the mayo and tuna together
2. Put the tuna on one slice of bread
3. Smack the two slices of bread together
4. Enjoy your sandwich!0 -
Hi all! I'm also team Rick. I ran across this quote a while ago and it really rang true with me so I Figured I'd share it. "Look back at what you used to be to learn and grow from it, but don't dwell there. Look forward and move on to the future you."
High(ish) protein recipe, well high for cookies... I made them for my kids when they were younger. It's a healthier alternative to processed junk cookies anyway. And no bake
Choco-PB Oatmeal cookies
½ C Butter
2 C Sugar
½ C Milk
4 T Cocoa Powder (unsweetened)
½ C Creamy PB
2 t Vanilla extract
3 C dry quick oats
Mix the first 4 ingredients (butter, sugar, milk, cocoa) in a large saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil and hold for 1 minute. Then remove from heat. Add PB and mix until melted. Add vanilla. Then mix in oats. Drop by tablespoons onto waxed paper. Cool until set, about 30 minutes.

I am deeply sorry I didn't post my numbers this past week...thought I did but apparently I didn't...I'll make sure to do it by Saturday morning this week...Damn...hope we didn't lose because of me0

My computer is sketchy at best this week. Been doing all our challenges and staying in my calories. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. Tomorrow I am participating in a Jackalope Jump. Freezing outdoor pool. Jump in and jog to the far side and climb out. Wish me luck. It is for the Special Olympics!

Sara - I have 150 cardio, 40 strength so far....i think i will make the 300 cardio goal by tomorrow's check in - woohooo!!!!!0
-
I'm going for a big push tomorrow. I haven't been keeping track, just doing as much as I can for working full time.0
-
I spent today in bed sick :-( and missed my workout. Hoping I feel better tomorrow and can finish strong but I may be in the need of some minutes if anyone has extras.
For protein at my house we smoke a lot of meat. And I mean A lot! Like we use the smoker 3+ days a week. Mostly turkey breasts, pork tenderloin or salmon. But I'm going to share my favorite meatless protein recipe because episodes like this week's make me want to be a vegetarian (Tainted meat episode did too!)
Quinoa fiesta enchiliada bake. So delicious and filling that my family of meat eaters didn't notice the missing meat. Now my husband calls quinoa the meat for vegetarians.

OK so I didn't make it to 300, but I was close. Will have to try again next week. And congrats on coming in first on the fitbit challenge!!!0 -
Thanks Sara! I made it! It was close. I couldn't do the punishment. I am still too congested and couldn't breathe. So I did Sally squats again. Hope that counts!0

Oh my gosh. I am glad I checked on this. My post did not save. I bet I put preview and not Post Reply!
Cardio: 190/100 Did not make my 300
Strength: 110/65
Got my challenges done
No recipe, I do not have any
And here is my inspirational story:
I married at 18. Had little self esteem. Raised my two wonderful children. Then they left. I had hardly ever done anything for myself. No job, no schooling after high school. Very few friends. So I got a job at a juvenile detention center. I really enjoyed working with the teens. But I worked graveyard. Hardly seen my husband even now. There was a deputy sheriff officer who convinced me, after leaving several applications with me, to try to join the force. I looked up the requirements. Run, maybe, pushups doable, situps, laughable. But I tried out anyway. Passed the written, the oral, the psych evaluation. I aced the situps and maxed the pushups. I had been working on these. But I had shin splints! I could not pass the run. I had to complete the academy within one year of my hire date. I squeaked through. So now I had a great career doing something I could be proud of and meet lots of exciting folks. I was asked to go back to the academy several years later. I was 50 at this time. I decided I would more than squeak through this time. I would not be in the slow group. Going back to the academy was an extra 13 weeks of training to get my PO (police officer) basic training completed. I currently had held a detention officer certification. This would open more doors for me. I worked out like crazy. I completed 73 pushups in 1 minute. I passed everything and was in the fast group. I placed second for over all physical fitness and received an award. I have never been so happy with my accomplishments. We can do this at any age if we just do not quit. And I am still married to my best friend.
I did the Jackalope Jump. It was a jump into a pool of freezing water, run to the other side and climb out. It was for Special Olympics. The hardest part was standing outside, most of my group was barefoot or in sandals on the freezing concrete! Ouch. We had to wait around 20 minutes for our turn. The best part was the the lap pool we got to go inside and get into when we were done. And I am happy to say that the Law Dogs had more participation than the Police department!
My aquarium had its lighting fried this week. So that was a big pain. Still not working. My poor corals are not liking it. Should be working soon though.

Almost forgot, got my punishment done also. 10 times, had to finish it up this evening when I was reminded by reading I'm awesome post. Great numbers, nice come back!0
-
I barely hit 300's. Let's try again this week!0
-
Ok Sara, I am on board. Last week was just bad. At least I am done with my jump. The aquarium hood still has a short in it. But hopefully it will not take more than one evening to fix. Just a pain to take it all apart. We are waiting on our son to help get the new trusses in the crawl space now. The new tank will be around 2600 pounds when fully assembled. So we are beefing it up. Already got in an hour of cardio today.
Great job getting in 300. That is alot of minutes!

Ty, looks like we have other superstars way above that number. Congrats!0
