What is the bacon trying to tell me?

This right here is probably the best advice I've heard when it comes to feeling hungry while doing keto. If you're actually feeling hungry (and not bored or craving sweets), then the odds are very good that you actually are hungry and should eat something. Even if you make a mistake about it, the effects of a bit too many calories are less harmful to your goals than on a low-fat diet.0 -
If bacon is speaking, it's probably saying "HELP ME" --- have you seen footage of those industrial pig factories? *shudder*0

Yes, I have. Do you eat meat?0

Or dairy?0

Or eggs?0

I am very happy you have the opportunity, land and ability to do so. Not everyone does. Nor can I afford to buy all certified humane raised either. Yes it's sad. But I can barely afford my meds.0

For sure. We die if we do not eat. I no longer crave sugar and other carbs but I still pig out sometimes but it will be on high fat stuff even if late at night. The other evening I loaded up on almonds, walnuts, celery, cheese and green tea because I was hungry. The next day I still showed a slight weight loss.
Lab studies with animals have shown those on a LCHF diet can consume more calories than those on HCLF diets and still not gain as much weight.
If your brain tells you to eat more wholesome food sources then do it and watch the scales and you will figure out what to do to manage your weight.

Oh dont take it that I was picking on you! I wasnt at all. You asked and I answered.
We'd all love to take animal's feelings into consideration I am sure, but we've got to eat in a healthy way for our bodies. So we do what we have to do. Feeding yourself and your family is more important, imo, than where you get the meat. We live at the poverty line also and am about to lose 1/3 of our income next month because my daughter turns 18, even tho she hasnt graduated high school yet. I get what I can get that is healthy and works for my WOE where I can.
Hope your situation improves soon.0 -
Oh I meant it when I said I was happy you can do that, it has been something I have always wanted to do. Just no land, and I think my Doctor would have that cow you say you want if I DID try and raise animals LOL.0

I have been at least trying to eat back most of what I burn off these past few days. We'll see if that helps.

After 5 solid months of <50 carbs daily) carbs is about all that I watch/limit and try to make sure I do not over do on the protein. Losing about a pound a week but it still is not always linear but could be nothing for two weeks then 2-3 pounds the next week. Starting the day with 4-5 tablespoons of coconut oil in my coffee/100% cocoa mix helps insure I start the day will a lot of healthy fats.0

Obey the bacon!0

This thread has had me limbo! I love it!
Yes, took you up some bacon and keep in the freezer. Wrap each serving in wax paper and keep them in freezer bags. Handy for a quick heat in the microwave. I slightly undercooked before freezing, then it doesn't get over done in the microwave. Great for meals and snacks!0 -

I like this idea a LOT. I tried eating it one morning for breakfast (usually don't have time to cook it) and I was not hungry again for much longer than usual.

Lol! Bacon satisfies me too! Won't get hungry for hours after eating it. Yes, all hail the mighty bacon! Bacon knows best! Thanks for the laugh! Have an awesome low carb day!

I feel your pain. Even when I eat more, I still get hungry when I work out. But for real, all jokes aside, bacon really does keep me satisfied for hours! It's the only thing that works! Too bad I can't make for breakfast during the week
@Fat4Fuel2 I bake up bacon in batches on Sunday. If you let it come to close to room temp (sometimes I like it cold, too), it's just awesome. Sometimes I just stick 4-6 slices in a ziploc bag and take my "breakfast" to work with me. Well worth a little weekend planning to get through the week in bacon bliss! And yes, prepped bacon on Sunday will still be awesome on Friday, if it lasts that long!0
