April Morning Coffee and Gratitude List

Hit a snag, Mother Nature didn't want us to take that bike ride, and the power went out at our house as well. No bike ride and had to go out to dinner.

I don't know if any of you buy Trader Joes chicken sausage - but if you do, there is a massive recall on it. If you have some you might want to contact your local distributor.0

Finally an advantage of not having a Trader Joe's near my house.0

I am grateful to live in such a wonderful place as Colorado. Had a nice long walk at a near by state park yesterday. It was a lovely day and the bald eagles were awesome. They have a breeding pair there. We got some good shots of the mother feeding two of the chicks. The father was nearby on a lower branch. And not to be upstaged the blue herons were present and flying overhead and also fishing in the shallows of the lake and being successful. Also saw a couple of snakes, one in the farmers' canal and one near the path, so warmer weather is here to stay. Was so great watching them all. Lots of other water birds but they were too far out on the lake to tell which grebe was which.0

Yippee, maybe. With company, eating out, and trips, etc., my weight was up despite being careful. This morning the scale showed encouragement.
We're heading back to Gig Harbor soon, and it will be so great to see green.0 -
I am grateful this morning for my good old fitbit, still working on my surgery recovery but I am back to a steady 6000 steps a day and hope to increase that soon. Also grateful for a blast from the past that I remembered called Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansome. I used it years ago and during the recovery did not feel like going to the mall to walk so I ordered it and found that for me the 15 minute one mile walk is 2000 steps. Hope to soon increase to the two mile walk! Its a very handy tool!0

DreamOn, Youtube.com also has many of Leslie's walks. I have the 1, 2, and 3 mile dvds, but noticed they are all on youtube as well. When your ready for more steps just pull up the videos.
Glad your recovery is going well enough for you to progress0 -
Grateful I checked in this morning - DreamOn, I looked up Leslie Sansome and there she is on YouTube! I did the One Mile Express. Super fun, worked up a sweat and didn't even have to change out of my pjs - thank you! ~ Kathy
P.S. Just found this article by Leslie Sansome on the MFP blog, where she explains that you should register the exercise under Aerobics rather than walking because of the extra moves she adds in. http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/7-get-started-walking-tips-from-leslie-sansone/0 -
Grateful for the great citizens of Franklin County, Ohio and that rain held off until after noon today. Through my job a three years ago, I organized an e-waste drive for Earth Day. Today was our 3rd drive. Don't know the weight yet, but we had over 400 cars and trucks drop off old electronic equipment in 4 hours! That is double what we did the other two times! I'm excited to know the weight (I'm guessing around 16 tons) and that it will not end up in a landfill, but will be recycled!0

Grateful this rain we are getting will stop the talk of wild fires. Not so grateful to what it is doing to me getting my steps in, I'm going to have to spend serious time with dvds today. I took yesterday as a rest day, I didn't even get in 10K much less 12K, luckily on several nice days, I got plenty of spare steps in, so my over all average for 7 days is still fine. It was a good reminder of how inactive I had been before the Fitbit, however. So I'm grateful for that .0

Mxchana - thanks for the link on Leslie Sansone. I use her you tube videos and am curious to see how burn differs with putting in as aerobics.0

I am grateful that at 68 years of age I am capable of going to the gym at least 7 times week doing lots of cardio and at least 10 hours a week on free weights. My weight is going up but that is muscle gain and not fat thank goodness. I love my excersise regime and I'm now thinking of going out running in the local park rather than on a treadmill at the gym. Sorry for the long post.0

Hey SuperSnoopy those are some abs you have built there. I read your profile. You are awesome for a guy who had a heart attack earlier in his life. So many just give up and say "I can't do that, the heart you know."
I think moving in the outdoors is so much better than a treadmill. Go for it. and happy running.0 -
Grateful the next few days will be dry ones. The sunshine is lovely right now and should stay around into next week. More nice days for walking. I walked home the 2.9 miles from the fitness center today. So much nicer than being in a room with a dvr and a tv screen0
