So as of today I'm not counting calories. Just keeping an eye especially on carbs. Trying to relax (just a little) about this and trust my hunger. We'll see where I land on May 1.0

so loving this challenge.
i had charcuterie, jalapeño stuffed olives and chicharrones three hours ago, and i've never felt to satisfied. i thought that was a snack, but i haven't been hungry for dinner at all!0 -
Ugh. The kids have friends over. I had some pizza for dinner. I feel awful. I'm going to bed and hope I feel better in the morning. It's a new day.0

I've been noticing a little rationalizing in my mind that it might be ok for me to have a slice of a family pizza. Ha. Thanks for the warning...hope you feel better soon.0 -
I know that feeling. Gave in last night too. Didn't even really enjoy it. Hopefully next opportunity I'll remember that before indulging0

If you dig in, pull the toppings off and eat only then. An indulgent compromise!0 -
WoW!
so for the sake of brevity....
Just "did" EAster.
Ate what was served at in-laws.
(lasagna) Had absolutely no emotional response to it!!
Didn't particularly enjoy the chocolate eggs but couldn't stop eating them.
Very odd sensation.
Next morning scale registered 8 pound increase!
Two mornings after that scare registered pre easter weight and I woke with the worst breath ever so I think think must be already transitioning back into keto.
I don't count anything anymore. I think I get a bit more carbs and somehow I think that is doing me good. Still likely less than 30net/day.
Two people this week asked if I had lost weight!
What an interesting experiment. Qualifyer: mostly interesting due to the fact I feel it is yeilding positive results.0 -

It feels good when other people notice.
@kirkor I found a link to that interview on reddit zero carb and that, combined with Goat's experience is what got me really thinking about zero carb.
Well, I didn't gain any water weight but my stomach feels heavy, I feel lethargic and my head is fuzzy. So not worth it. I'm also not the slightest bit hungry yet. I'm sticking to water and coffee and will see what the day brings. I've got this.

Went to chipotle tonight per the birthday boy's request. Tried their steak over salad, mild salsa, and guacamole. Luckily they're pretty stingy with the lettuce (thinking I'll want beans and rice I suppose), so the carbs were all from the salsa and guac.
It was all right but not incredible. Not worth the carbs in my opinion. I wasn't thinking "dried out cubes" when I imagined "steak," but probably should have known better. I'd rather spend that $10 on a nice fatty cut from the butcher. Now I know.0 -
I would never sweat the carbs in a salad like that, but that's just me. It was 17g carbs, about half in the guac.
Pretty similar to my dinner tonight, but crab and eggs instead of steak.0 -

Oh it wasn't that I was sweating it (or I wouldn't have ordered it), I was just overall disappointed (the magic of chipotle's flavors is apparently in their rice and beans) and salad has never agreed with me so I got to suffer after.0 -
The nearest chipotle is about a half hour from me, but for the past few months I've had a few appointments pretty close to it 1-3 times a week, if I'm out there in the afternoon I almost always skip the bacon and eggs for breakfast and just get a steak salad instead. Same thing you ordered, it sounds like, but I also get sour cream. Its definitely a favorite!0

whoa. something is making me wanna go buy a big ol' stack o' ribeyes.

1. Now I want a steak.
2. The resources page at that blog has a lot of things. I'm watching video #18 right now. "Georgia Ede - The Downside of Eating Plants"

Esmée La Fleur is a rabid collector of information and testimonials and interviews. Her page is full of good stuff. I'm currently one of the testimonials (you'll recognize the photo). After a full year (which will be July), she said I'll get my official interview. LOL
She doesn't count you as official enough until you've got at least a full year under your belt, which I do respect.0 -

I found you. ('cause that's not creepy)
You're the first person who I've seen something about those nasty tonsil rocks (blech). That alone may be worth trying ZC, although they do seem to be much less frequent on LCHF.0 -
Yeah, I had persistent tonsil issues for years until keto and ZC. I would get strep or tonsillitis annually. I haven't had either in the two school years since I went keto/ZC. That's not because I haven't been exposed. I had 3 kids out already this year because they had it. Normally, once a kid had it in my room, it would only be a matter of time before I had it as well.
The nasty smelly rocks mostly stopped with keto. So, I definitely think it helps a lot, just being low carb. But, I haven't had a single one since going ZC.0 -
That's hilarious to me, because my history is the opposite: I've never had strep or tonsillitis. Doctors would regularly ask me if I'd had my tonsils out because they didn't see them immediately when they looked at my throat.0

Ouch! (If you'll pardon my weird sense of humour.)

To the tonsil people. That's really interesting. I'm extremly curious to see how LC might affect my other mysterious ailments.
I had strep throat and tonsilitis so bad that they took mine out. My glands would swell so bad at that time you could see them sticking out of my neck like some bearded dragon thing. I'd drool because I couldn't swallow. (TMI?)
The last year, before they did, I had it basically, all the time. I'd get it, go to the doctor, he'd put me on stuff, I'd feel sorta better until It would finally go away. I'd finish the pills. Then whoops! There it is. I was usually there every 4 to 6 weeks or so 'till we all decided enough is enough.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go stock FIT_goat on the other blog.0 -
That testimonial of mine is very disjointed and weird. It was taken from a conversation I had with someone who was asking about the effects of going zero carb after I posted about it being my eight-month anniversary. I was answering a couple questions they had.

I'm here to say I am nowhere near ready to jump out of this airplane and trust that my chute will open. While I've been fine with my declared goal of <16 carbs, I just feel way out of control and anxious if I'm not counting calories. I've done okay with not eating to stay in my macros, however when it's late in the evening and I'm hungry, I feel like I have to check my macros to see if I need fat or protein more. Maybe after 6 months or so I'll be ready to let go and trust that I'm strong and confident enough in my body listening skills to try this fully again. For now, for the rest of April, I'll stick to maintaining my <16 carbs and that will be good enough for me this time around.
You'll have days were you eat barely anything and days were you feel like all you do is eat, if you follow your hunger cues. Some people this way of doing it works and others prefer to keep track. You have to figure out what you like best. I don't even fill out my food diary anymore, because I can keep track of 20 carbs in my head and I might be a little lazy ;0

I had this. For 4 years. I missed so much work and it was starting to affect work performance pretty badly. I had them out the age of 29 but then I started getting skin boils (after never having them) after the birth of my son. 3-4 years ago I managed to clear those up by eating mostly paleo.
I've only just realised they are probably connected to eating carbs. I remember that after having my tonsils out (it hurt - a lot) I couldn't eat chocolate. It was just before Easter and I remember asking my family not to bother buying me any chocolate.

Ended up eating at a Chinese buffet tonight. I am sure there were untold numbers of hidden carbs in the sauces and stuff the meats were in. I stuck to unbreaded meats and seafood. But, most stuff had gravy of some sort with it. Compared to most people, I am sure it was trivial. I expect to see some water weight tomorrow.
Plus, I'm having some bourbon and seltzer water tonight. Wild and crazy weekend.0 -
Yesterday saw my highest carbs in a long time, close to 40g, but something worked because my weight actually was down this morning.
No more birthdays for almost three weeks, so I'll be keeping it simple and meaty.0 -
I think I did pretty well with the buffet. They had a grill, but the line for that was just ridiculous. I generally don't worry about carbs from incidentals like that when eating out. I do my best to avoid them, but don't stress about it. It's like when I get ribs at Sonny's. Their dry rub has some carbs (about 1g per rib). I don't have so much difficulty with that amount as to go out of my way to avoid it.
Even the Chinese food wasn't horrible. My stomach was a little gurgly last night, which is to be expected. Scale weight was up a pound, but I'm not worried about that.
The only weird side effect? I actually found myself looking at various candy bars in a store later that night. I was slightly tempted by them. Not enough to actually act on it. But, it crossed my mind. This isn't typical, because I normally don't even think to look at them. On top of that, I was still physically stuffed from the buffet at this point. The actual thought of which one might taste good turned me off. But, the fact that they even appealed at all, that was unusual.0
