Found out this morning that it's an arrhythmia problem with my heart that causes the racing. I'll be having a catheterization that will diagnose exactly what's happening so they can fix it. Has nothing to do with diet or exercise. I'll be fine, but will be glad when it's fixed.0

So glad to hear that you have an answer. Hopefully it will be easily fixed and you feel comfortable again soon.
I have had a niggle in my head since reading these posts....aren't bananas and other high potassium foods recommended to reduce high blood pressure????0 -
Thanks, Jane. Yes, bananas have a nice amount of potassium and are helpful to the heart. Unfortunately they blister my mouth so I can't eat them. I do, however, love avocados and they're loaded with potassium. So far I haven't been able to control my hbp through diet. But I'm hopeful that as the weight goes, that will change.0

Just so you know, most likely that is a shared protein sensitivity that causes the reaction. It is in avocados, too, so be very careful. My daughter inherited it from her Dad... Check out all the related ones... I believe it is peaches and sometimes pineapples, depending on how fresh. Apples could cause it for her sometimes too, depending on brand/breed (brand for juice). The fiber in the fruit can negate the allergy, but is crazy. Wishing you luck... (greens and broccoli both have more potassium than bananas, just FYI...)0 -
Thanks, @Knit. I had actual allergy testing which showed I wasn't truly allergic to bananas. The doctor said it is more of a "contact" allergy that likely isn't life-threatening. I had avoided avocados, mangos, etc. b/c of their connection, but since I saw the dr. decided to give avocados another try and they seem ok. Yes, greens and broccoli have more potassium and I eat much more of those. I'll never eat another banana tho!0

Yeah, that kind of reaction is terrifying!!! Strangely, though, my daughter could have them in smoothies (yogurt to neutralize maybe?) but her dad couldn't!0
