I don't like Butter!

I am learning to love it and it has changed me. From the inside out, I am different, and feeling so much better! Bring out the butter. I think margarine was slowly poisoning my body! I truly do. It's all I ever used since butter was so "bad" for you. The deception the has been put upon us all by these experts with their own personal agendas have created the major health crises we are seeing today. Their recommendations are killing people! Sorry, soap box!
Going to hijack this thread a moment...
IMPE, you are correct. Until 18, I ate a heavy fat diet with a lot of raw dairy and very little sugar, as my mother dislikes sweet flavours. I rode my bike an hour a day and lifted heavy weights 3x a week. I joined the military, at a typical american diet for many years, and had 2 children. After struggling to lose the weight after baby #2, the military put me on a diet and exercise programme. I was weighed and measured every day, and did 1 hour of running and 1 hour of calisthenics daily. I still lifted weights 3x a week, plus the heavy lifting that my work entailed.
I struggled on this high carb low fat diet for years (almost 4), Somedays I ate less than 15g of fat a day, but had all the sugar and starches I wanted and still stayed at 1600 calories in. After 4 years of this I had started developing fatty liver disease, was pre-diabetic and my knees, shins and feet were shot from the running.
I was medically discharged from the military. I only knew one way to eat now, the diet they gave me. I had to give up the weight lifting, the biking and the running. I started putting on more weight. I developed an autoimmune disease, an adrenal adenoma and fibroids. I was a mess. I tried a high protein diet, recommended by my doctor and my dietician. I developed kidney issues.
I gave up for a few years and just ate whatever I wanted. After all, nothing I had tried had ever worked. I had migraines, this autoimmune disease, was developing cirrhosis, my liver enzymes were through the roof, I was passing kidney stones. I had psoriasis over 40% of my body. My triglycerides were over 400. My hair started falling out.
Then I needed surgery, and it was not going to happen until I got my blood sugar under control. At the time, my A1C was 11.9. I started doing my own research. I stumbled across LCHF. It sounded a lot like the way I had eaten when I was growing up. I tried it, and I am improving my health every day.
So yes, I believe you are correct. I listened to the experts, I listened to my doctor, and several dieticians and nutritionists. I followed the food pyramid religiously. At the rate I was going, it would have killed me in a few years. (BTW, my doctor -still- doesn't like me being on LCHF, even though she has undisputable scientific evidence in her hands that it is the best diet FOR ME.

Holy... wow. I am so sorry to hear about all they put you through, @Keliandra , and glad you found what works for YOU.
Regarding fats...
Thanks to this group, I've discovered the wonders of cacao butter. I've been adding that to my morning coffee for extra fat. The coconut oil was turning my stomach for some reason.

You could try it any way you like it. Coconut oil and cream should work.0

@Keliandra Amazing story! I am considered a newbie, but the changes I have seen, so far, have been so eye opening. Our government lies to us all the time, why wouldn't they mislead our dietary habits for their own profit? Been going on for far too long!0

Wow Keliandra, glad you found your way to LCHF. I, too, tried the diets given to me by experts and things got worse. Not to that extent though. Kudos for figuring it out for yourself before it was too late!0

I have to have 5 days dairy free starting today and it's butter that I've missed most so far.

@Keliandra Oh my goodness, what a horrific story of 'being a good girl' following everything you were told to do by 'experts'. I'm so glad you found the truth before it was too late.0

@GrannyMayOz I grew up eating margarine because we were told it was better for us. What a load of baloney! Now, to get this butter revolution really going! Hope your five days of dairy free goes by quickly!0

Ok, so tried BPC today. Used 1tbsp butter, 1 tbsp cream, 1tbsp coconut oil, & 1/2 packet Splenda. Much too my surprise I liked it! No butter taste or feel in my mouth. Reminded me almost of a Tim's ice cap. So then it made me start to wonder how much fat are really in those drinks? One site said that a Peanut Buster Parfait has less calories & fat that a Mocha Ice Cap. Wow!0
-
Timmie's ! Some folks here won't know Tim's. I used to get the regular iced cap made with cream.....but way too much sugar now. I sometimes make my own. Maybe if you think of BPC as a Tim's iced cap, you'll like it better. My daughter drinks her BPC cold with some protein powder in it. Why not put some cocoa in it and make a mocha ?0

Oh that sounds good too. I'm a hard core coffee-aholic so didn't notice any energy surge. But, was glad it tasted way better than I thought it could.0
