I have been at this woe since around Easter, and I keep thinking I sold be taking vitamins and supplements but haven't got around to it.
I was dairy free also but have added just a bit back in.

Thank you!

Agreed with @FIT_Goat. Unless you have tested deficiencies, the short answer is none, other than watching your sodium, potassium, and magnesium to make sure you're maintaining what you need. This WOE fulfills most nutritional needs because the body is far more efficient without the wasteful processing of carbs.

I've been waking up with charley horses in feet & calves the past few mornings. Was waiting for blood work before I started taking anything, but maybe I should pick up some magnesium? Does it need to be with something else so we can process it?Drinking the chicken boullion keeps headaches away. As soon as I feel one coming on, drink the broth & voila! Gone (placebo?).

Magnesium is amazing for cramps. I'd just start taking it. Only thing that'll happen if you take it and don't need it is you'll get diarrhea.

I take calcium and vitamin D. Because I'm a woman and have been vit D deficient since i could remember. I used to take a multivitamin but stopped because i feel it's unnecessary to load myself up with vitamins I'm already ingesting while I eat. Just my opinion. Trust your body.

I take a Vitamin B complex. I also take cinnamon pills since I read it's good for sugar metabolism. Whether they do anything, I can't say. I also did notice when I took the magnesium, calcium and zinc combo my cramps weren't as bad and my period wasn't as heavy. Sorry if that's TMI lol.

Make sure you get Magnesium CITRATE. Slo-Mag is a preferred one for some. I just got it straight, but it's only 135 mg, so I'm taking it more than once a day. I had 500 mg OXIDE and it would give me the diarrhea problems. Badly. Like went on myself in my sleep bad.

Citrate can be liquid, powder, or capsules... You can get it at some pharmacies (my Walgreens carries it, but not my WM, as far as I can tell)...or online.... 500 mg is about the max dose you want to take unless you're deficient...but you'll be able to tell.

And I think that the best ones tell you to take it with food so it is metabolized. There was something here someone mentioned to take with it, but I can't recall. I have no problems with absorption, as I can easily tell when I do or don't take it.

I take Natural Calm before bed, but I've also started to drink way more water than before and I find it really helps for the charley horses ( leg cramps ).

Do we only get charley horses in Canada? I have hard time with calcium as most is derived from oysters (shellfish allergy) & I'll look for the magnesium citrate. Thanks

A "charley horse" is a cramp in the leg or foot. Can be very painful.

I have started taking magnesium as a spray in oil - it's great because if you forget to take the magnesium as a pill you can just spray on before going to bed. Works a treat!

I take magnesium and potassium as a supplement. Very occasionally I take a multivitamin or some spirulina.

I was born in Kansas, raised in Texas, and live in Oklahoma, USA now, and every single person I've ever spoken to knew EXACTLY what I meant when I said charley horse!!!! So either I'm more non-US than I think or something. LOL

    Lol we're such nerds.

I rarely have friends get that reference.

I actually didn't realize until I read this thread that the... ahem, digestive problems I was having was related to the mag citrate. I've even taken it before! I should have known better. Well, eyes are opened now. Lol.

Charlie Horse is also the term here in Western Canada, and speaking of them, following my night shift I had Charlie horses' twice this morning in my left calf as I was stretching/yawning in bed around 3pm. It really sucked: I took magnesium when I got up, and have been trying to eat an assortment of foods throughout the day to prevent same from happening again. Good luck taming your Charlie Horses!

I'm a total Trek nerd too, but I don't have access to as many reruns anymore, so my logic memory starts to fade after some point...but y'all are making me laugh...just for the record.
