I have not gotten any real exercise in this pass week, and I feel it, no motivation, not sleeping good. Not happy with myself, but don't have the drive to change it. Which I believe all stems from no workouts. I keep waking up at night anywhere from 1am to 2am and going back to bed around 5am then toss and turn till I have to get up for work, okay so the alarm goes off at 6am but I am pushing it till 7am. Not good.

Why does one lose drive so fast do you think?

June goals - 120 miles & 20 days over 10,000 steps. Kind of lofty goals for such busy month at work but I will do the best I can.

    June 1 - 11th = 39.6 miles & 3 days over 10,000 steps.
    June 12 - 4.5 miles - 10016 steps (4/20 days)
    June 13 - 5.1 miles - 11272 steps (5/20 days)
    June 14 - 5.2 miles - 11585 steps (6/20 days)
    June 15 - 3.3 miles
    June 16 - 5 miles - 11096 steps (7/20 days)
    June 17 - 3.2 miles
    June 18 - 2.8 miles
    June 19 - 5.9 miles - 13061 steps (8/20 days) = 74.6 miles

Why does one lose drive so fast do you think?

Are you dealing with a lot of stress Dawn? I have had the worst time this winter being motivated and I also have gone over my calories at least one a week, which I have never done on the past 2 years of being on MFP. However, my motivation increased substantially after I graded my last final and entered final grades. It finally dawned on me that teaching 7 classes with 4 of them online this semester was extremely stressful even though I LOVE it! The fact that you are having the same sleeping problems that I did (I would wake up in a panic that I forgot something, go to the computer, check all my classes, find out I did not forget anything and still not be able to fall asleep again until 4 hours later) makes me think that you are dealing with stress and may not recognize it.

I don't think we always recognize stress because it often comes along with things we love to do and do not think of as "stressful." The holidays are a good example. Everyone loves the parties, the decorating, the shopping the smells etc, but it is very stressful even though we love it. There is a lot on the forums about "emotional" eating and losing motivation because of "emotional" issues, but I found stress to be a much bigger problem for me. It has reached the point now that when I go for that second glass of wine or that extra handful of baked cheetos, I KNOW I have some stress somewhere. Think about all that is going on in your life and think about things that you are resisting or trying not to think about or even that you enjoy, but there is just too much of a good thing right now. You may find some hidden stress that is sapping your motivation.

I hope this helped a least a little.

Hi Breanda, how are you feeling? I see that your getting some walking in, that's great.

I feel very good and am getting stronger every day now. I actually used 5 pound weights yesterday (my cute surgeon limited me to 10 pounds so 5 pounds X2 =10 pounds right????) and although I sleep more on the days I work out, I can do it now and not collapse on the floor. I've been sticking to the 3 mile workouts, but I think I am going to try a 4 today.

The funny part of all of this that many of you will appreciate is that the hernia protruded from my abdomen and so as I lost weight (101 pounds total), the lose skin on my midriff was very minimal. Now that it is gone and the skin is not stretched over it anymore, I have this little roll of "muffin" top! So I have to decide which is worse, the little bulge or the little roll! As Gilda Radner said, "It's always something!"
