I don't do books, but there is a huge list either in the LaunchPad post stickied at the top of this group or linked in the launch pad post. There are also a crap-ton of websites there.

Me personally, I just google anything I'm researching with "Keto" in front of it, because it's more trendy that "LCHF or LCHFMP" which hasn't caught on as well yet. I'll also google Paleo recipes and just tweak sweeteners, but I've yet to NOT find a recipe I'm looking for by googling "Keto recipe" for the one I want. Some rock, some suck, but they are usually edible. Unless they include sesame oil. That's banished from my cabinet. No way to rescue those...

Dana Carpender's Fat Fast Cookbook & 1001 Low-Carb Recipes are my 2 actual low carb books that I cook from on occasion (less often now that I'm not eating dairy or eggs). I also have a bunch of paleo cookbooks, Tim Ferriss's Four-Hour Chef (more for technique & seasoning), and some of Maria Emmerich's books (definitely not compatible with my current restrictions).

Coconutty if you are into real books on the subject that is more like a textbook on how to prevent/treat cancer using keto eat as part of the solution you may be interested in reading Cancer as a Metabolic Disease, On the Origin, Management and Prevention of Cancer by Dr. Thomas N Seyfried of Boston College.

Before you pay $120 for the fine book read the low tech long four part summary that is free from Georgia Ede, MD's website. The book came a couple days ago and I thumbed it and her review did hit the core info about using keto that Dr. Seyfried covers in a complete and technical way.

Oh wow, $120! Oh well i suppose we cant put a price on knowledge and health (mind you, my fiance may disagree with that!). I'll certainly check out the free summary. Thanks very much Gale.

I was looking at those 2 Dana Carpender ones on Amazon. I dont suppose they have any pictures do they? I dont know why most LCHF cookbooks are totally picture-less, because its so much less inspiring when you cant see what the dish looks like.

They don't. None of her books do. If you're looking for pictures, look at the paleo cookbooks (Nom Nom Paleo, Practical Paleo, and Eat Like a Dinosaur are where I'd start). Not necessarily keto, but lots of options (and PICTURES!).

This one has pictures (practically every comment mentions them): http://smile.amazon.com/Nourished-Cookbook-Health-Metabolic-Balance-ebook/dp/B007SZGD7Y/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1434557454&sr=1-2&keywords=nourished

I have it on Kindle, but haven't gone through it yet (I buy a bunch of paleo and low carb books when Buck Books does their events and has them for a buck or 2). Glanced through, doesn't have pictures for every recipe, but does have pictures.

I'll check these out, thanks very much.

What does anyone think to "Keto Clarity" or "Keto Power"?

    Recommended Books

    Recommended Books - The Science
Request for Submissions - Books - books only please
"Art and Science of Low Carb" - Phinney and Volek
Arguably the most comprehensive book on the LCHF lifestyle ever written. Lots of "science" but presented in a "understandable" way - a "must read".
"Good Calories, Bad Calories" - Gary Taubes
This is similar in content to Why We Get Fat, but much more detailed. This is a harder read, but may be worth it for many people.

Coconutty Peter Attia, MD who is also a jock may be one of the most experienced MD when it comes to ketosis and has been eating and lab testing ketosis for years and has much keto info on his website.

Dr. Seyfried book is the textbook being used in cancer research labs I understand. It's price is in line with that quality of binding, color photos, lab results, etc but for those without a background in healthcare science the free review is what I would suggest unless one wants more details. The four part summary by Dr. Ede covers the concept and 'how to' well the best I can see.

I read Keto Clarity. I love the way he explains things. Listen to his podcast, he writes the way he talks. It also has a 21-day meal plan that uses mostly food that sounds normal.

Finally found a LCHF recipe for a brownie that really is chocolatey and under 5 carbs per serving. It even uses berries, which you can subtract and get a lower carb count. These were very good and filling. One is PLENTY.
