  • I seem to have strained every muscle in my body this week but managed to get out for a bit of exercise.

    Squats - 25 x 12.5kg
    Barbell Rows - 25 x 12.5
    Bench Press - 25 x 20kg

This was the first time I've used an Olympic bar and I was honestly surprised by how heavy it was! I'm such a weakling lol.

Thoughts and impressions after first week:

I am not scared of the weights section in the gym anymore. Nobody stares, nobody bothers me, I know what I'm doing.

Lifting a few kilograms feels like nothing at the time, but then I hurt afterwards; this just goes to show how much I needed to work on my strength.

Free weights really are harder and require more 'stabilising' muscles than resistance machines.

It doesn't have to be complicated to work. It doesn't have to be lifting your own body weight from the first day. It is perfectly okay to start small and simple and work up.

Onwards and upwards for the 2nd week!
