I heard that podcast; I had originally thought it was owing to some Sun-Tzu 'Art of War' quasi-samurai discipline, but no - he had just been an overeater and found this the best method to rein it in! Entirely relatable!1

Sometimes just little hacks of a system can work wonders.1

Five days in, this feels like a huge hack! But now, when faced with a craving, I just need to tell myself "What would General Stanley do?"!!! Four-star generals aside, there is a lot to be said for role models in eating patterns; we adopt the habits of those around us.2 -

Three things to repeat to yourself when faced with cravings:
1) "I can have it, just not now."
2) “Yes, I can eat now, but I won’t be happy if I do.”
3) “Yes, I can eat now, but it won’t stop there.”

I was thinking the same. I have definitely found it much easier to just not eat rather than to stop.1
