That's so cool!! Just click on the address! Have fun!

Shelley, I love your aquarium! It's almost as tall as I am...yeah, but I would need a step stool to play in it!
Don't know what the day holds. Trying for the gym this evening with the kids. I might walk. DH's surgery is tomorrow, so I might just hang around with him today. We'll just have to wait and see.
Chris0 -
Just kick back and relax Chris. You know I will be waiting to hear how it went.
I had to get a step stool with 3 steps! It is made by gorilla. I still am thinking I will need scuba gear. Muahaha. And I think a 7 minute body workout is a great idea. Tomorrow we will be pouring a1.5 yards of concrete for the new patio. Just a small one. But it will have to be wheeled in. Ow.
Did I mention that my mandarin is eating clams and oysters? He loves them. Finally fattening him up.

Thanks, Shelley. Hope your patio turns out great. And Mandy the mandarin takes after us...right? ...eats whatever's in front of him...???
We did hit the gym for about 45 minutes or so. Just stayed around the house with DH...did laundry and read. We are to be at Kaiser tomorrow at 10:15. DDD will go with us.
Going back to my book, now.
Chris0 -
Sadly Mandy was one of the ones that were in the tank that the heater went nuts in.
The one I found to replace my large male is the one who eats most anything. I bought him in Denver about 2 months ago. He was very emaciated. He is now almost chubby and eats all the time. Hmmm, does sound familiar.
Whenever he sees me now he comes swimming. I want to just call him Draco. But Rocky wants Dracko. Not sure of the spelling. I am just glad he made it. I was worried that he was to far gone. But he is doing great. So I probably did not mention getting him. Oops, sorry.
I hope they are not running late for his surgery. Nothing worse than waiting. And I sort of expected DDD to go with you both. How long is the procedure expected to last? Is he excited to be getting it done? Did laundry today also. But no workout!
I have been painting my chair pieces. It is slow going. Using a spray paint. Spray one side, wait about 45 minutes then spray it again. Wait 48 hours and do the other side. And it has been windy. Getting it done though. Slow and steady.
Have to go find a book.

Back from New Orleans. Still sad at times and seems so weird that my little brother is no longer with us. He was only 54, but had a stroke and left behind a 15 year old son. Back on track with logging my food and have 2goals: no alcohol and no meat.
Clara

Clara, glad you are home. I'm sad that your brother passed.
Shelley, I remember you telling us about Draco. What a sweet fish to swim to you when you walk up. I hope Mandy gets better. Pictures of the chair when it's finished and we need to see Rocky's chair too...you know, just to compare.
DH gets admitted at 10:15 this morning. Don't know when the procedure is scheduled, but it should take 2 -2 1/2 hours. He had surgery on his lower spine a while back and we were told to be at the hospital in Walnut Creek (awful drive) early in the morning. They made us wait about five hours before they even started to prep him. I was so mad. That was an awful experience. Thank goodness, both hip 'fixes' will be here at the Antioch Kaiser.
Maybe DDD and I will walk around the hospital. It's up on a hill and has a beautiful view of Mt. Diablo. The wind will probably be the determining factor. If it's strong enough to blow us off the hillside, we won't be going.
Love you guys. Back later.

Clara I am 54. Makes me want to take better care of myself. I like your thinking about no alcohol. I do not eat much meat as it is. And rarely drink. But cookies and such are my problem areas. Take care.
Chris if it is really windy call it strength training cardio.everything will go as planned today.
Well we got it poured. 1.5 yards, wheel barreled in b. And enough left to pour 17 stepping stones. Not sure if they will look good or boy. The concrete had large rocks in the mix.
Until later

Surgery went well. They removed a lot of metal debris from his hip. He's in recovery now. I should get to see him in a while. No walking but it was a beautiful day.
Hope your steps turn out nice, Shelley.0 -
Chris I sure am hoping for a speedy recovery for him. Having the metal shards removed will bring lots of relief also. What did DDD have to say? No walking, so not you.
The stepping stones would be a bonus next to the concrete slab. If they turn out I will try and photograph them. This is a before photo of the side yard we are putting in a concrete slab. Notice how tilted my table is? One bench is not there. And the small arbor had to be mostly cut down. Poor clematis, still have plenty to make him happy again.
Bed time, hey when does DH get to come home?
Shelley

Thanks, Shelley, He'll be coming home tomorrow if he sits up in bed, wiggles his feet and takes a short walk around his room. There was too much going on and we had all kinds of messages about how long the surgery would take, so we didn't want to leave the hospital. As it was...we could have gone on a three hour walk!!
He looked really good when we got to his room. He said he was really alert when he woke up...no groggy side effect from the drugs.
I'll be getting Bean early tomorrow. DDD and SIL are having their bathrooms redone...too much noise. I could take Bean out for a quick walk...we'll just have to see.
Must step away for the peppermint now...
Chris0 -
Am back, but tired. Worked out at my bro's house after waking up in the middle of the night.
Chris, best wishes for your DH. Hope he is so much better very soon.
Clara, Very sorry about your brother. So sad!
Shelley, Cement is heavy! I can't lift the bags anymore. Have to shovel it out from the ground. Good workout.
Best to all,
Paula0 -
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, SHELLEY!!!
Paula, I'm glad you're home. I woke up last night, but working out was the last thing on my mind...picked up my book instead!!
DH is coming home at 3:00 today. PT said he's doing great! He's a bit sore but in great spirits.
Picked up Bean really early this morning. DDD & SIL are having their bathrooms redone...too much noise for the pup. The workmen were there before I was!!! Bean and I did a quick 4 miles. He is the best!! If I keep up with his puppy-trot, I manage a 15 minute mile!
Well, that's it for now. have a great day everyone.
Chris

Thanks Chris! He is coming home today, that is awesome. He is probably home right now.
Poor Bean. I hate noise that early in the morning. Hugs for the pup.
I have been doing a lot of reading lately also. Oh and most of the stepping stones turned out great. Two were 18 inch rounds. A turtle and a frog. Those are awesome looking. So glad because I have a place for them.
There was also a 16 inch one with a hibiscus and humming bird that turned out great. There were 18 all told. And only about 4 did not turn out really good.
Paula you are correct cement is heavy. We had a cement truck though. So no lifting bags. Just fill my wheel barrel and wheel it into the right area. Without it tipping! Egads! Rocky of course did most of the pad leveling. SIL and DD helped wheel the cement. And Sanara helped with the stepping stones. Have to put on the form release, shovel in the concrete and shake them on the shaking table. It gets most of the pin holes out that otherwise ruin the end product. And I took ibuprofen when I woke in the middle of the night. You are an animal!
Painted some today on the chairs. Went to some art type stores and bought some nice little yard decorations. Like I need more! LOL Ok new photo. This is the concrete slab we did yesterday. For some reason my photos are coming out badly. Must check and see if the lense got oil on it.There is a picture in my picture area of the top of that concrete table. It had flowers painted on it years ago. DH and DD originally painted them. We are planning on doing them over after painting the table and benches.
Going out to dinner with hubby tonight.
Have a great day,
Shelley0 -
There is water in the aquarium! Almost have all the pieces to the chairs painted. Have to wait out the 48 hour drying period to put on my last coat of paint. Trucking right along.
Chris how is your hubby?
Shelley0 -
Shelley...YAY!! Water in the aquarium!! Chairs painted!! Good job!
DH is doing pretty good. Has pain walking to and fro, but he has to do that...doc's orders. Good thing we have a darn long hall!! It will get easier for him each day. The physical therapist just called. She's coming out tomorrow. DH said it's to make sure he has all the right equipment and that he's not doing something dumb. He just told me our insurance will cover 120 PT visits!! Crazy!
When he had his hips done the first time, the PT came out (we were in a different house), worked with him and then told my DH he didn't need the PT to come out. That DH was doing everything he was supposed to be doing and knew the moves he was supposed to make. DH is hoping that same thing happens tomorrow. Cross your fingers.
We were planning the gym this evening but DDD had a bad headache, so we didn't go. I didn't do anything today except read. I get Bean really early tomorrow...2nd bathroom to be redone...so I'm planning to walk with the pup before it gets too hot! Now, if I could just quit eating.
I hope everyone has a terrific Friday.

Chris & Shelley, I bet neither of you watch TV much, do you? You seem too busy. I got hooked on the Grimm series while my knee was healing.
Shelley, I'm so excited about your aquarium. Wish-a-wish-a-wish you were just down the street. Chris, same thing. Across the bay is just a smidgeon too far to squeeze into an evening. No steps today???? What did you do with the real Chris?
Carol took me bike riding again today at lunch. Five miles up to the foothills. Boy, am I out of shape! Stopping was the hardest thing because my legs were like rubber.
Still doing stretching and flexing for my knee. Will try to do some core and arm weights tonight. Not monstrous, just to feel it.
Can't see it well here, but my new profile picture is with my two little nieces, 3 and 4, and Lacey (my Mom's shih-tzu/papillon baby) and Teddy (my sister's shih-tzu son). Such cuties, all of 'em!
Paula0 -
Paula - Bwahahah! 99 years old!! Zowee...that makes me 103 or something like that! I love your profile picture! And I love Grimm! I haven't seen all of the last season. DH has them ready for me when I get on the recumbent....which I'm going to have to do in order to make my 200 miles this month. Egad!!
Yesterday I had 9.49 miles for 18,946 steps...please be impressed...however, I didn't have the energy for an additional 1,054 steps to make it an even 20,000...nopey, nope! Today, I have a sad 2.47 miles for 5,391 steps.Tomorrow will be much better.
Hope your evening is wonderful!
Chris0 -
We all love Grimm! I have been watching it since it first started. We watch a little television before bed. And everything is recorded. Chris sounds like you will be on that bike and watching Grimm in no time. Glad to hear hubby is home and moving a little. Crossing my fingers that he can do the PT at home. But I must wonder if it is like a personal trainer. Maybe he should go at least once a week.
Chris either way, you have alot of steps in.
I hope DDD feels better soon. I see you realized that our friend is ancient.
Paula your new photo is so fun. The little girls are darling! And you know I love them four legged darlings!Oh my you are getting into that bike riding. You will be in shape in no time!
I wish we were closer too. I will take photos. Let me know how the extra exercises go.
Went to zumba tonight. The instructor did a special workout for me. It was 20 minutes of cardio kickboxing. Not sure if I still have any friends in class or not. There is rocks, sand and salt in the tank also now. I rinsed all 80 pounds of sand as best I could. But the water is still a bit cloudy. It will clear up eventually. I will be putting some last minute touches to the paint tomorrow. Then let it dry for about a week before assembling. The boys went for their walk today. And darling Joey went for a swim. And he rode on dad's lap all the way home! Muahaha
Time to find my pillow,
Shelley

Hi ladies. Sorry for being absent but I've been so busy catching up at work. I had a tennis lesson on Wed & Thurs as well as practice on Thursday. This is our last week of USTA. We have 6 weeks off until the start of ALTA fall season. I'm going to take next week off...no ticking up a racket I believe I need a short break from tennis...or should I say my body needs a break.
I'm going to use that time to get back to walking. My neighbor and I are going to push each other to get out the door.
Hope everyone is well.
Happy Friday!
Kathy0 -
Kathy I'm glad you're walking with your neighbor and that you are going to help each other stay on track.
Shelley, I'm working on DDD to get her back to the gym for a class or two. We had fun when we were doing them before the wedding. There house-redo will be finished in the next few weeks so we'll see.
Walked with Bean this morning. He has un-learned everything about walking and not smelling everything that I bragged about a few days ago...that pup had to sniff everything his morning!! And he really wasn't interested in participating in the walk either. He wanted to go home after the first 15 minutes. We did 45 minutes then crossed the street to some shady trees, and I sat down thinking he was hot and tired...nopey, nope...he wanted to head home, no resting for that pup! I was so confused. I let him stop and sniff anything he wanted for then next 15 minutes.
DDD and I hit Kohl's really fast. She got some new tops for work. I got some shorts for DH. The PT came and was here for about an hour talking with DH. She checked out all his supplies and equipment and gave him some pointers on his gait when he walks. He has exercises he has to do and he'll have to show her on Monday. She'll be back next week...twice.Yeah, it's cool that they come to the house, though. That has been my day.
So far I have 5.93 miles for 11,794 steps.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Chris0 -
A cashier told me Jesus loved me. I had religion pushed at me and now over-react to being a captive audience. The cashier was just so out of the blue. Opinions?
Ah, it's Friday. rest day.
Is it okay to ask philosophical questions? Or should I abstain in the future? :flowerforyou:
Chris, I hope DH is doing better soon. The PTist sounds good. They really helped me even though they weren't teaching anything new.
Shelley, So happy for your fishies.
Kathy, I love your wisdom.
Would anyone be interested a "discussion" thread for Kathy's wisdoms? That way if there are new posts (comments, or especially new wisdoms), we'll get that little yellow number that tells us to look at it again. Might foster more interaction?
Thank you little sisters, :blushing:
Paula

We can get a little yellow number? That would be awesome. Be back, have to walk the boys before it gets hotter.
Shelley0 -
Paula, I don't mind you asking philosophical questions. I would view the "Jesus loves you" as a friendly greeting or salutation, meant sincerely, and just leave it at that. Kind of like when someone tells me Namaste or Bless you.
Chris, I'm so glad DH is getting better.
Like Kathy, I'm getting back into walking.0 -
Paula, you can ask anything you want. We can answer if we want or not, if we don't.
IMHO...Sorry, Miss Cashier...your god is not my god...so keep it to yourself. What store were you in, Paula? Religion was also crammed down my throat.
Going walking now. I'm taking an umbrella...the sun is really hot today!

Chris with four pups I just never know what they are going to do. The check for pee mail is usually at the top of their list though!
I am glad someone will be checking up on your DH at least for awhile.
Yep Paula, ask away. I just consider people who say things like that as very religious. Could even be a bit fanatical. But as long as no one is offended I do not mind. Personally it is the trash people put on their vehicles and drive around for all to see. Or being told to grow thicker skin if things bother me at work. Our new Sgt., female, well kind of female. Anyways she says f##k every other word most days. I hate that. I had a gal we call Crazy Carol ask me if I knew JC? Heck, I did not know she meant Jesus Christ! Say what you mean! But truly I would much rather she had kept it to herself, the cashier. I do not mind a bless you, heaven knows I can use it.
Shelley0 -
Shelley Bean does the same thing...that pup has a pee supply that totally surprises me. He can pee on stuff for two and a half hours. A little here...a little there...It's so crazy. And then go in the back yard when we finish and pee for a really long time. He's amazing!
Hit the gym with DDD and SIL early then went out for a fast walk by myself. I had to bring the umbrella back because it was too windy...bwahahah...so I suffered when the wind was at my back and the sun was hot, but it was nice walking into it. I walk where there are a lot of short courts, so going down is hotter than hell but coming around and up is a breeze!!! It was also 11:00 when I left the house. I knew it was going to be tough.
I'll be back later to post my final numbers...I must shop now.
Chris0 -
I just learned that the "announcements" turn grey after you've read them, and turn back to white if someone posts on them after you. Not a yellow number, but it works.0
-
Bean is here for a puppy sleep-over. I think he and I will head out early tomorrow morning. We'll just have to see how that goes...it might just turn into a "sniff and pee" session!
Final numbers for today...6.60 miles for 12,580 steps.
Hope you all have a grand Sunday!
Chris0 -
Chris what really drives me nuts is this: Oscar sniffs an area, decides it is deserving of a squirt. Cooper sees this, must investigate. Circles said spot. Then he decides, yes it is indeed in need of a squirt. This is repeated until all four have had a chance. Often two at a time! They so crack me up. No wonder I do not consider walking them to be much of a workout! Great step count.
Paula thanks for the notification. I must investigate.
Watched Guardians of the Galaxy in 3 D with some of the grandkids. We had invited one over to get to know her. Usually she only comes over with all the others. Hard to get to know her when she is running and playing with the others. Probably hurt some of the others feelings. One is a wild child and just turned 3. She is ours, but not able to watch a show yet. The others in that group are not really ours. And there are 4 of them. I wanted some alone time. I hope the adults can handle it. Emma is almost 11 and this is the first time I have ever done this. I learned alot about her. She told me I was scary! Yuch! When she was leaving I asked her if she still thought I was scary. She ran up, hugged me and grandpa and said no. Success!
Ok, bed time.
