Kitnthecat wrote: »OK everyone, my 72 he fast is now on hold until next weekend. My mom made supper and I ate it! Blew my carbs on a tiny bit of potato and wild rice and some berries... And some booze I'll have to report to one of the supervisors at work that I ate, since she was worried that I haven't been eating enough and cautioned me about anorexia as she ate her second donut of the day. She knew I was planning on fasting.
So my new plans are still to fast during my weekend but now for 48 hrs, then next weekend I'll shoot for my long awaited dream of 72 hrs!
Yeah, when I tell people that I fast for 36 hours and that's its no big deal, it blows their mind! And I understand FULLY why. When I was carb eater, I shuttered at the thought of not being without food for more than 4 hours... Keto is amazing.
Keep up the good work!

On a side note, made some delicious keto friendly pumpkin muffin/cupcake thingies with splenda.. They were great, but not so much for my diet. LOL Stay away from the artificial sweeteners if you can.
What was the recipe for the pumpkin muffin?
Dan
Found this on r/ketorecipes. I used regular granulated splenda as I couldn't find baking splenda and it was fine. If you make these, be sure to refridge them overnight before eating. The crust is much more crust-like after it has time to get really cold.
Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Muffins
2 blocks cream cheese
1 cup baking splenda
2 eggs
1 cup canned pure pumpkin
1/2 cup almond flour
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
4 T butter, melted
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Mix the melted butter with the almond flour and coconut flakes. Press into the bottom of some greased muffin cups with liners. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, eggs, and splenda until very smooth. Add vanilla and blend. Drop a heaping spoonful of this mixture into each muffin cup, smoothing it out as you go. To the remaining cheesecake mix, add the pumpkin and spices and blend well. Drop another spoonful of this mixture on top of each layer of cheesecake. Each cup should be just full.
Bake for 17 minutes at 350 and let cool completely in the fridge before serving.

Yes! Another 2 lbs off after I had put on a lb last week. A new low and my interim goal of 3 stone (42lbs) off achieved - super happy about that! Now need to motor down the next two stone and, thanks to @DittoDan I feel that I have the tools to do this, although whether I will have the will, I'm not sure - but definitely want to get another 9lbs off at least. Very happy.
How are you guys getting on?0 -
Happy Friday!
Burned 11,900 calories (3.4pounds) doing the Poseidon 100 Fat Burning Water Fast, 40 hours.
Gained 3.4 pounds and Down one pound from last week’s water fast results. So, still positive results.
Was not too hungry, but was obsessed with food yesterday...Note to self: Do not review food recipes during Water fast! doh!

Hi guys;
...just realized I have been WF once or twice a week for one month. Wanted to share the results.
Burned 33,600 calories (9.6 pounds) doing the Poseidon 100 Fat Burning Water Fast so far; one month.
Thanks Dan! I am very close to goal weight.0 -
I blew it for this week. Didn't follow my own recipe and had failure for this week. But I may do a couple fasts. I may do one Sunday or Monday to recover. I don't care, I want this weight off on my time-table.
I didn't plan out my days after the fast and overate again on last weekend. Then I did a workout on Tuesday (got the shed completely painted!), which was probably too close to the weigh-in day. Maybe I'll lose a little by tomorrow, but I ate today. I did the fast for 36 hours, but on the 2nd night of the fast, I didn't pee as much as I usually do, and ended up a pound over last Saturday's weigh-in. Still ain't bad. I was up 6 pounds on Monday and recovered most of it. If I could just "be good", I think I'll start "whooshing" again.
Here are some pics of my shed:
Oh, how many tools does it take to build a shed? (a lot!)

That is so good T!
Yeah, fasting is at everyone's disposal. They're very helpful for breaking stalls.
I'm glad I could help... in some small way...

Nice shed Dan ! You know, it looks different from what I pictured after having heard you talk about building it. I like the interior. A little bit bigger and it could be a tiny house. (I love tiny houses.)
Maybe I've come over here a little too soon, but that's OK. I'm now at hour 64 of my planned 72 hour fast and feeling good. I'm excited. Going to clean the house, maybe get more yard work done and have a walk. Then I'll have a nice supper. Wonder if I'll be hungry by then ? I haven't had any hunger really, maybe my stomach grumbled once, but it went away and never returned.0 -
Drum roll please..............I made it to my goal of a 72 hour fast ! I felt fine throughout, started to feel a little less energetic around hour 69, right after my 75 minute fasted walk. Felt my tummy grumbling at hour 70, but just drank more water and made it past 72 hours. I broke my fast with 4 small eggs, 3 pieces of bacon, all the bacon drippings, and some cheese. Then I had a small dish of regular ice cream. I was still pretty low carb at 35 g. I'm stuffed at just over 1,000 calories. I'm going out now and will probably drink a bit of vodka tonight. I'll see what the scale says tomorrow. It may be up from today's all time low. I cautiously didn't log today's weight.0

So here are my results of my 72 hour fast. I was 187.22 pounds on Thursday morning. Sunday's weight was 183.7 lbs, a difference of 3.4 pounds. I did eat supper last night and had a couple of ounces of vodka with soda later in the evening, so I figured that the scale would go up. But it didn't, it went down another 2/3 of a pound, making my weight loss of the fast 4.18 pounds, kind of hard to believe. I did not log today's loss, out of superstition ....although I just told you guys about it. But my number on MFP will say 183.7, not 183.04. I'm sure that I will gain that back by tomorrow.
But then I start trying to figure it all out. I had a week like Dan had last week and did not lose, just maintained. But I stayed on plan. So maybe this 4 pound loss is my body catching up to it's previous weight loss rate of about 2 pounds per week ? I don't know, time will tell. I will be having a larger meal than normal today, but don't want to overdo it. Then I am meeting friends out for supper tomorrow and the next day is pizza day at work, but I'll be careful, never eating wheat again... I can imagine I will be fasting again on Thursday to make up for it.
This WOE, especially with incorporating fasting, fills me with confidence that I can handle all of these social situations with ease, and just get right back on plan. My favorite dinner out is usually a cheeseburger without the bun, or steak with veggies and butter. I look forward to the challenge. My group of ladies that I meet with only see me once per month, so it is really fun to show them what I look like each time we meet, and watch them watching me eat my meat and butter...hee, hee.
So I am confident that if the scale goes up after these 3 occasions, I will just get back on track again with a short fast on Thursday, or a 48 hour fast into the weekend. It takes planning, but I'm also flexible. I just love the freedom ! The only down side is that I'm running out of clothes to wear, and I'm flat broke and can't buy anymore. Oh well, maybe by the time I have money, I will have lost another size anyway !0 -
Wonderful @Kitnthecat. Great post!0

WOW! That is awesome Kitn! ... Inspirational.... and I hope you keep trying it ....
(now if I could only follow my own plan and get back on track....)

Thanks everyone. Lol Dan, you'll get back on track...but remember, there is no "one way" to do this. Some of the best results happen in the kitchen when we change up the recipe a bit !
I'm glad I didn't log that new low weight yesterday, as it didn't last. I now have to lose a little water weight that happened as a result of upping carbs for Thanksgiving yesterday. But I'll get back on track too !0 -
Well, lost 3lbs yesterday but had put on 4 somehow (well I know how, but can't believe that I managed to put on so much with one lapse) the week before. So no nett loss but at least yesterday's fast helped to iron out a bad week.0

Trying this for the first time this week.
1. Was already keto-adapted, less than 40 carbs per day.
2. At a calorie deficit (1350 per day)
3. Weighing every day anyway
4. Not exercising - ugh!
5. Will post results
Today is the no food day. Hardest part will be at home when my husband asks what I want for dinner. He is barely on board with keto, but seeing my good results and no negative health effects, although he worries about long term. I am not sure he will be on board with fasting...0 -

Welcome Christine. I hope it shakes everything up. By wrote you just wrote above, I assume you read the two threads already? You can exercise. just not too close to your weigh-in day (2-3 days before.)
Hope it goes well...

I just completed an unplanned water fast of 37 hours. I threw it in to get rid of the water gain from upping my carbs at Thanksgiving. It took care of that and I'm back at my new low weight again ! I wasn't really hungry yet, and now after eating bacon and eggs, I'm ready to go again. I'm not sure if I'll even eat supper tonight. I may just fast from right now until Sunday. So I'll have either a 48 or up to 60 hr fast this weekend.
I've picked up some sort of virus at work, so I'm holding back on the exercise right now. But I don't find that my gentle exercise hampers my weight loss at all. I'm not doing anything strenuous, mainly walking. If I feel better this weekend, I'll plan on a walk or two.0 -

Dan - Yes, I read the two threads with all the instructions. My comment about exercise was related to the fact that I am currently NOT doing anything (and haven't for quite some time) and feeling like I SHOULD do some. It was not a reflection or comment on your plan!
Yesterday went well. Only comment from hubby was around my breath. I had super large ketones on my ketostix and I think that was reflected in my breath yesterday as well... unfortunate side effect from this way of eating. But, I stayed away from any gum or breath mints. He didn't realize I only had broth for dinner as he was mowing the lawn and I was getting the kids corralled for dinner! Overall, my day was pretty easy. I also do Epsom Salt baths almost every night, which is relaxing and helps detox - ups the hot water bill, but oh well!
I will check in on Sunday with the overall results.

Very good Christine! Yea, once I went to dentist (while on fast) and the lady cleaning my teeth could smell it on me too! And she actually knew what Ketosis was.... When I told her how much weight I had lost (like 110 at that time) she said I had lost a whole person and stated that she weighed that much... LOL!
I hope it all goes well....

Kitn.....
You are the "Fasting Queen"!!! I want to do a longer fast, but social situations get in the way. Early on my keto diet, I did a 3 day and a 4 day fast. But haven't revisited it this year. I have done some 48's, but then Saturday gets in the way. Hard to fast (for me) when I am out and about.
Maybe I should start my fast on Wednesday? I like the energy it gives me at work, I can get so much done, its like I'm on speed....
Dan0 -
Yes, the energy is addictive. I am hooked. That's a good idea to start on Wednesday, do it !0

Well, another weekend, another fast. This time was 48 hours. I felt fine throughout, feels normal now. The scale went down by 1.5 pounds. And the best thing was that the scale did not go up at all after I ate, which it usually does the day after.
The greatest news of all is that I surprised myself by fitting into a lot of dress clothes and work clothes from 10-11 years ago ! I thought I'd have to lose a bit more before those clothes fit. I'm so happy, since I don't have extra money right now to shop for clothes.
So right back into the swing of things again. I'm planning a mini fast of 36 hrs mid week, with another 48 hr fast on the weekend. Happy fasting everyone !0 -
I did a 36 hour water fast earlier this week, but didn't follow the recipe. I'm hoping within the next couple of weeks I get on track with it all. I was impressed with how easy it was, but my husband wasn't in love with it. He is Keto and has no issues with that WOE but thinks water fasting is a bit extreme. Easy for him to say .. he lost 65 lbs in 3 months LOL.
I'm pretty sure I could have hit 46-48 hours comfortably, but had a longish drive planned with the kids and wanted to make sure I felt okay so I broke it a couple of hours before we left.
I am not a daily weigher so I'm not sure how much stuck yet. I was down about 2.5 lbs when I broke my fast which I didn't record since I figured I'd gain most back, and I havent weighed-in again since. I fasted Saturday/weighed-in Sunday. I might weigh in tonight0 -
.... down 3.3 lbs!!!!!!!!!!0
-
Good for you !0

@110challenge fantastic loss, well done!0

3 lbs and a new low! Yay. It's my birthday tomorrow and we'll celebrate at the weekend with keto chocolate mousse. I will have to control myself tho'!0
