Yep! Keto flu! Get your salt up! Generously Salt some broth, pickles (and the juice!).....anyway you can! I had cramps even after taking the magnesium (I still take it though, and fyi, most people are deficient in this vital mineral too!) for a few weeks. The cramps don't bother me, as long as I keep sodium around 4000mg a day. If I let it slip, I can expect the cramps. And the Pink Himalayan sea salt is the bomb!! Is a far superior salt, imo! But yes, get some extra salt (I do use salt tablets too, since I don't want to eat the food it takes!)! Actually ordered a new supply last night!

You need the sodium more than you need magnesium. You only lost the magnesium once sodium got low in the first place.
So supplementing magnesium on s daily basis sorta helps to maintain it when we inevitably let sodium get lower than it should be. It's a balancing act. The more water you drink, the more sodium you need since any excess will take sodium with it as its flushed out of the body.
Cramps, even when due to low magnesium, is still always die to low sodium as well.

this is all making sense, I drink around 2ltr water a day plus another 1ltr in tea but since doing LC proper I have increased water by another ltr so I must be really low on sodium

I have some miso soup in my draw at work, will have that today till I can get some other ways to get it in,

You can always add a tsp of salt to like 2oz. Water and chase with water...just an idea. Hope you feel better quickly!

Well I feel stupid. I had a massive headache almost all of last week and didn't consider the possibility of low sodium until Friday. Question: what about Lite Salt (or Lo-Salt)? That's what is readily available at the office and what I use when I forget to take my supplements or salt up.

Lite Salt is potassium. Which we all need. And I use in my broth/keto-ade. But you still need that sodium up. Low-sodium will go and leech potassium. So then you have 2 problems.

Oh dear. Thanks for answering so quickly! That also explains why when I thought I was "salting up" at the office I still had a lingering headache. :)

So I went and looked at the ingredients, and the Lite Salt we have here has these ingredients: Salt, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Silicate, Magnesium Carbonate, Dextrose, Potassium Iodide.
