Yeah Kate..that's us. He grabbed my hat and was being a goof at our family reunion and someone snapped a pic. He's horrified I have it as my profile pic lol.

Congrats to you on the 0. I had a glass of wine and watched Newsroom with the son. Was in bed early.

Getting my boobies smooshed this morning . :noway: fun stuff.

Great picture of you and your son- it's especially good of you- and you both look like you are having a good time.

"Getting my boobies smooshed this morning." Hmmm, is hubby staying home from work? I know probably just a Dr appt.

I looked back at Junes post by Ashley of the work they did on their yard. Really looked nice. A good space to relax, party, or do just about anything. Darla and I have been working on our landscaping. We have a new house so have a blank canvas for the yard. Profile pic is of our first attempt at doing something outside our comfort zone. We are happy how it turned out.

Lushy weekend. Will try for a zero today.

so far so good on the new job. It is really warm up here for us so I will be cooling down with beverages I am sure. When I make my fajitas I marinade them in Line juice, tequila, a little bit of prefab fajita mix (or spices like cumin and chile powder) and some oil. I also throw the jalapeno and serrano that I halved and seeded into the pool. then I grill it all up and enjoy with fresh salsa, cilantro, sour cream and avocado slices all rolled in a corn tortilla.

    Nice yard Ryze

Toooo much with mom last night, no work out today and since I got all the house stuff done yesterday I can just veg today. We're already having pomegranate acai margs. Think it'll be an early to bed night so we can hang by my mother in laws pool tomorrow :glasses: it's been in the 90's here for a couple weeks now but the weather doesn't really decide my drinking but since mom is here I think this week will go like this

Monday-Sunday = drinks :drinker: I'm viewing it as vacation. I will shoot for a work out tomorrow though and next week back to 0's Monday-Thursday with Friday, Saturday and Sunday being fair game

I would NEVER post a pic of our backyard, its a disaster...even after 6yrs in the house.

    Monday-0
Tuesday-4 red berry voskas and sprite zero. I will blame Len for the 4th one....I was going to stop at 3 BUT couldn't let him drink alone
I'm not sure about tonight, we really don't have much in the house. I do have to stock up for the weekend, so maybe I'll stop at the liquor store on the way home?!

I'm already over average and I need a zero tonight.

The yard is super cute and such a nice retreat in the summer to chill out. I was telling Ron that I love to have happy hour in our yard in the summer because we have done so much work it in it and it's better than any patio in Woodbury. We have one more area to work on for a drainage issue around the egress window and then we move to the front.

2 glasses of wine...but I poured half of the 2nd one back...which leaves me about a glass left in the bottle.
We're kinda out of everything also...so I probably will stop by CVS and pick up some vodka and wine on sale.

..........But, I'm already starting to plan an Octoberfest party - Buds, Spuds and Brats

Ron proposed to me in Germany and we lived there twice during his years of service. My son Kyle was born there as well. So, it must be celebrated with style.

Thanks Ryze! We love our backyard space. We are both landscape architects. Not that we "do backyards" in our everyday profession; we are more like civil engineers/planners. But we do have plant knowledge and design background, so we're kind of obligated to have a sweet yard. I like your wooden bridge. We talked about doing something similar, but didn't. Did you build it?

Well I have been off for 2 days with a sick kid. I probably could have come in yesterday but we had unexpected guest in Tuesday night and I got drunk and was up till 1, so totally used my borderline sick kid as an excuse to take the day off. First time I've done that and she's almost 18 months old. So I had about 6 drinks, probably more really, Tuesday and 3 glasses of wine last night. I'm shooting for a 0 tonight and 3 Friday and taking Saturday as a "free day" as we're visiting friends and hanging by the pool all day and staying the night with them.

I'm interested in laws. I live in Kentucky and you can't buy anything but beer at the grocery. But drug stores sell liquor, wine, and beer. We can't buy package liquor until after 1:00 on Sunday, and my city (Louisville) passed a law RIGHT before Derby that you can purchase a drink after 10am on Sundays at restaurants. Bars can stay open till 4am, except on Derby when some stay open till 8am. What are yours like?

We can get booze anytime, anywhere LOL. The grocery store tends to be the priciest. Costco the cheapest. CVS has good deals with their sales but you can't use your extra bucks on booze. :ohwell:

Got some more wine yesterday at CVS as promised.Had 2 glasses. Pool and gym today and I usually come home from a day in the sun wanting something refreshing...so maybe vodka/pom tonight?

PA is dumb!!! You can only get wine and booze at the PA wine and spirit shops. Beer can be purchased at beer distributors (cases) and some supermarkets like wegmans or whole foods (in 6pk or 12pk form). Liquor stores are closed in sunday, except for a couple that are open 12-5 (this is new...thank goodness our is one of them and we can walk to it  )

We can only get beer at the grocery store, nothing at gas stations or cvs type stores, have to go to the packy for wine and hard stuff and only recently are the packys open on Sundays until 5. Mom and I have been lushy and lazy, it's been a nice week  I am looking forward to 0's and exercise next week though.

    MN -

Liquor stores open every day except Sunday - but, I am 10 miles from the WI border so that takes care of that
You can always drink in a restaurant
Grocery stores cannot really sell anything except minimal beer (probably has to do with alcohol content)- but, no wine. They grocery stores have been fighting this for years.

I've been to PA and I do have to agree that Kate lives in the worst state thus far...

    Last night was a zero

I'm at lunch and someone came in and just told me that my alcohol withdrawal patient just fell on the floor...good grief, that's a report to fill out now...damn!@!

Washington used to only have state run liquor stores for hard alcohol, you could by wine and beer in the grocery stores. Coming from So Cal it used to bug the s out of me. But finally last year we passed a bill to open it up. the state run stores are gone (they are now using the resources to regulate the pot laws they passed) and finally Costco can sell alcohol. (Ironic that the corporate headquarters state for Costco could not sell the stuff until last year. They were a big part of the lobby to get the bill passed) Unfortunately to pass the bill they had to include a HUGE liquor tax. So the booze is expensive here. More vodka last night. I have a plan to go home tonight and clean instead of drinking. I will let you all know how that turns out.

I remember the 1st time I travelled on business...it was to NY state and I walked in the grocery store looking for booze. I was SHOCKED! The clerk just laughed at me when I asked where the liquor was.

I had never heard of such a thing. I made sure I always sent my employee to the dry counties for business trips. I learned real quick where the good places to travel on business were. I've still never really been to the southern states because of that. It's kind of crazy how puritanical parts of the country still is when it comes to booze.

I am in Washington State and like Robin stated, we now have booze sold in regular stores. The trade off is we now ( I have heard) have the highest liquor taxes in the nation. It's a two tiered tax. First 20% tax on the cost of the booze, then on top of that a $3.60 tax per liter. What that means is that when you see the price of a bottle of booze you can double the price after the taxes. (Sucks big hairy donkey balls-TM SoCal)- but at least it got the state out of the liquor business.

I forgot to mention I grew up in a dry county. When we first moved there in 1981, my Dad went to the grocery looking for beer and was surprised to find we had relocated to a dry count. I worked at a Chinese restaurant that was inside a hotel for most of high school, and everytime I would tell people there was no bar, we were a dry county, they were shocked. Half the time they thought I was kidding. That county is now moist: restaurants can serve it, but there are no liquor stores. Weird....bible belt.....
