Did you swim today?

'Fess up. Did you swim or is your suit still hanging over the shower rod?

I'm about to go "suit up" to quote Barney Stinson. I plan to get in a half mile.

I swam, 750m in a lake as part of an Aquathon race. It was chilly even in a wetsuit but I had a good swim, sighted well, stayed on course, drafted a bit, didn't panic or get flustered. Just a good nice swim. Then I fell over right on my **** in transition putting my shoes on to run lol!

That's awesome!!! I'm starting on Monday. I'm planning on starting with 30 minutes/day and working my way up to an hour. I hope to get back to the days of being able to get in a zone and swim a mile without thinking about it! Right now I get tired off 2 laps...not cool.

I swam yesterday and had planned on doing a mile. I went 20 laps and got a migraine, felt disoriented, and my arms went numb. I fought on to 24 laps to get 3/4 of a mile and called it quits. I'm taking today off as a rest since I had a weird reaction yesterday.

I wish I could swim every day :( The indoor pool only has evening lane swims twice a week.

I can't wait until the outdoor pool in town opens. Then it's every night for me!!

@buniphuphu- that sounds scary! I hope you're feeling better and can take it easy today!

I swam yesterday for the first time in 2 or 3 years. 30 minutes but lost count of laps. I loved it and can't wait to do it again but I'm starting off with every other day. My husband and I have been trading off on who cooks dinner (helps prevent us from ordering in or eating out) so I'm swimming on days he cooks.

@Moxie42 I'm much better now. I had planned on swimming after work today, but my BFF wants to go shopping and talk, so I'll try to go after that.

Swam yesterday- 30 minutes but forgot to count laps. But I know I did better than Monday. On Monday I had to take a 3-5 second breather after almost every lap. Yesterday I mostly did 2 laps at a time and half the time I did flip-turns so I didn't stop at all (and omg I never realized how much energy those actually take!). I feel just a little sore in all the right places which makes me think that my technique hasn't been completely obliterated- that makes me very happy, and helps me feel less self-conscious around the triathalon-training team that has been using all the middle lanes!

I swam this morning. I did a mile in 59:14. I'm really slow, but that was 18:29 faster than the last time I swam a whole mile. I felt really good at the end of it, too. I felt like I could have kept up that pace for quite a while longer.

That's GREAT!!! It's the best feeling when you get into that "zone" and feel like you could just keep going forever- I miss that feeling, lol!

I have a crazy-busy weekend and haven't decided what I'm going to do as far as working out goes. I hit my workout goal for this week but might try to get a swim in on Saturday. I think for June I'm going to change my workout goals to at least 4 times a week with at least 3 days of swimming.

I swam this morning and plan to again Sat. and Sunday morning. Sunday mornings are my favorite as the pool is pretty much empty and so calm and peaceful.

Well, I'm not going to be able to swim for a week or two because I got a new tattoo over the weekend! I'm still going to stay up-to-date on the group though- I don't want to lose the motivation! I'm planning on sticking with other workouts in the meantime too, so I at least stay in the habit of being active.

Pulled calf muscle yesterday morning. Did manage last night's swim lesson, but taking it easy for couple of days.

I cannot do many laps. Our pool at our house is small. What are some ways in which I can still exercise in the pool without laps. More for legs and abs.

@playmadcats- ouch, I hope you feel better soon!

@anrebr88- is it deep enough to tread water in? I used to live in a community center that had a tiny pool. My husband, our roommate, and I were all shocked to lose weight with no changes other than going to that pool every day and treading water while tossing around a frisbee, beach ball, or diving sticks.

Or for a lifeguard-training level of workout, try treading water with a 5-10 lb weight. If you can do that fairly easily, increase the intensity by holding the weight above water, then above your head. Also, retrieving 5-10 lb (or more) weights from the bottom of the pool if it's deep enough- maybe 6-10 feet.

Shallow water options: holding the edge of the pool and kicking as hard and fast as you can- alternating rounds of that with "tidal waves"- grabbing on to the edge of the pool and using your arms to push and pull your body towards the side (trying to make the biggest waves with your upper body motion as possible).

I went Saturday and Sunday both. I hadn't been for almost two weeks, so I swam a mile on Saturday and half a mile on Sunday. My arm muscles are pretty sore today, but it's just from a couple of good workouts.

Saturday evening Sunday and quick swim today. However today was practising turns more than swimming so used the small pool which was empty ( plus not too hot for a change)

Planning on starting back next Monday. By then my tattoo will for sure be fully healed, and my wrist should be feeling better. I've never swam with a joint problem so I'm hoping that since it's low-impact it won't aggravate anything. If it does I'll check Amazon for some water-friendly wrist braces. I haven't felt motivated at all to work out but I do miss swimming.

Just got back from tonight's swim. I started working on swimming 50m without stopping at the end of the length. The first couple were difficult, but after I got my pacing and breathing in check it went well.

I find it takes me a solid 15 lengths before I'm warmed up. Maybe I should go for a brisk short walk before swimming...

I need a hip replacement, spinal fusion, and rotator cuff repair plus I've had ligament replacement surgery in my ankle, and my orthopedists all recommend swimming to maintain activity without stressing the joints further.

I did half a mile tonight. I had a hard time mustering up the motivation to go to the gym because I didn't want to face the heat again, but I went and had a leisurely swim.

Sorry you have to go through all that- sounds really painful! Thanks for sharing though- I've been a little paranoid about aggravating it just because it completely affects my job but it sounds like it won't be a problem which is a relief

Also, great job on swimming yesterday even though you weren't really feeling it!

I find the most rewarding workouts are the ones I don't feel like doing in the first place. ;)

Last night I swam the full kilometer. It's getting easier! Last night I did ALL my lengths in 50m intervals instead of mini breaks at every 25m. So proud of myself! Though I do need to work on my flip turns.

I logged another half mile today. I normally do elementary backstroke, but today, I mixed it up a bit. I did some elementary backstroke, some normal backstroke, and 50 meters of freestyle. Man, my breathing SUCKS! I sucked in a big lungful of water when I got my timing just slightly off. *cough, cough, sputter, hack, wheeze*

Breathing is hard!! It took me a few weeks to get back into the swing of breathing properly during freestyle. I'm still working on not turning my head too far out of the water. There are some great Youtube videos that I found helped me remember proper form. Next step: bilateral breathing!

I got up early this morning and was at the gym by 7:30. The pool is very quiet on Sunday morning. I swam for 1:15 and did a mile. I kept losing count of my laps, so I may have done even more laps than I thought.

Groans. My vet was in pool Saturday (don't ask). Totally messed up swim by proving I could swim as fast as him ( which I can for short periods). Only problem was being too worn out to do the full time I intended. Was hoping for 0-80 lengths but gave up at 50.

I know I know entirely my own fault!

Ugh, I hate when I loose track of laps.
