I'm confused. Where is the container labeled "Hostess Twinkies?" They're just as nutritious as that mound-o-mac-and-cheese and lots tastier.3

That protein portion is sooo soo sad. Even when I was eating carbs I would have the protein and carb amounts switched. They also could have taken a better pic of brown rice, that rice looks slimy?2

You guys are hilarious. This reminds me - have any of you read The Dorito Effect? I got the audiobook to listen to. Pretty fascinating stuff about how the SAD (Standard American Diet) came to be known, and a lot about the origins of flavors we never knew we wanted (Doritos, etc.), the story of the prize-winning chicken, and more.3 -
@bjwoodzy **facepalm** that's what SAD stands for! Thank you! I should learn to ask instead of wonder...2

Google helped me1

I'm still learning the acronyms too @RowdysLady !! Lol! @DittoDan made a list of some of them a while back!0

I don't know...I have some reservations.... how can you do scratch 'n sniff/taste with an audiobook? Is there a chapter on Olestra and its highest incarnation in Wow! Doritos?
PS. There are some precious pix posted in this awe-inspiring, yet near-emetic, collection, such as diet water and everything-free whipped peanut something, to scratch but the tip of the iceburger:

The diabetes educator I consulted with showed me this very product as a great tool to use for portion control.0

I'm seeing these bowls everywhere I go now! Were even in the checkout lane at Wal-Mart today!
Yes the Olestra comes with that warning! It came in a prescribed form (can't remember the name), and my OBGYN gave me samples (many years ago) with the instructions of "don't trust a fart"!! Lol! I was too scared and never took any of it!! Haven't ever tried any of those chips with it either!2 -
@Karlottap HAHAHAHA, don't trust a fart!! I really do have the funny bone of an 8 year old.8

@Karlottap - Your OBGYN imparted such priceless life advice while giving you samples of.... Olestra?@RalfLott Isn't Olestra the ingredient that "may cause anal leakage"?
My friends and I got many, many snickers from that warning.Olestra sometimes causes underwear staining associated with “anal leakage.”
Olestra sometimes causes underwear staining. That phenomenon may be caused most commonly by greasy, hard-to-wipe-off fecal matter, but occasionally also from anal leakage (leakage of liquid olestra through the anal sphincter).
CSPI also warns, "Olestra causes gastrointestinal disturbances, which are sometimes severe, including diarrhea, fecal urgency, and more frequent and looser bowel movements."
(Just in case you were tempted to buy some Wow! chips.)

Um....I may have owned that....2 -
I think I owned that too @RowdysLady !
@RaftLott, the medicine wasn't "olestra" (can't recall the actual name of it), but it did the same thing! Supposed to keep the body from absorbing some of the fat we eat. But when warned that underwear can be stained from "greasy gas" lol!, I never took it! Wish I could remember the name! I don't even know if it's still used!2 -
Xenical may be the pharmaceutical... from a close personal friend of mine .... makes you fart butter3
-
My SO has crohns and had a resection done of his terminal ileum because of that he doesn't absorb much of the fat he eats, I don't know why any doctor would prescribe medication to cause that effect. So sad2

Yep that's the stuff. The damage that stuff would cause with prolonged use could cause serious issues for people.1 -
Apparently Alli is a remarketed version of Xenical, that reduces less fat (15% rather than 30%) so that it minimises those, umm... err.. side effects. My friend knows way too much!1
